"Why are you driving so slowly? We might lose the trail!"
"Calm down, Miss. We can't go too fast because the traffic is heavy."
Eventually, the girl in the black dress leaned back in her seat. With her arms crossed in front of her chest, she displayed an annoyed expression.
Occasionally, she would check her phone to ensure her messages were being replied to. But then, she abruptly slammed it down in frustration. "Useless!"
This made the driver, Jason, slightly startled. Through the rearview mirror, he could see his boss’s irritated face. After ensuring the road was clear, Jason reached back with one hand to retrieve the phone Helena had just thrown.
Keeping his eyes on the road, Jason extended his hand towards the back seat, intending to return the phone to Helena. But she swatted his hand away. "Don’t try to bother me!"
So Jason pulled his hand back and placed the phone on the dashboard. After seven years as Helena’s bodyguard, he knew well her difficult and demanding nature.
When they finally arrived at their destination, the car came to a stop. Helena immediately extended her hand towards Jason. "Where's my phone?"
Jason promptly retrieved the phone and handed it to Helena. "Here you go, Miss."
"Stay here," Helena ordered. She then got out of the car and hurried into a nearby café.
Instead of staying put, Jason followed Helena at a distance. Tasked by Helena’s father to always keep an eye on her, Jason, at 30 years old, wouldn’t leave her side, even for a moment.
The sound of Helena’s heels clicking on the floor echoed as she walked inside. Her gaze scanned the room, searching for something she was sure would be there.
Her attention was soon caught by a man in a jacket she recognized. He appeared to be holding hands with a girl, and they seemed quite familiar with each other.
With mounting anger, Helena strode quickly toward them. By the time she reached their table, before they could even notice her, Helena had already grabbed a glass and dumped its contents over the girl’s head.
The girl, dressed in a revealing outfit, was startled. "Ah! What is this?"
As the girl scrambled to clean her head, Aiden, Helena’s boyfriend, stood up and glared at Helena. "Helena? What have you done?"
"What have I done? I should be asking you that. What are you doing with this trash?!" Helena snapped back. Just because she was cheated on didn’t mean Helena would weaken and cry, begging him not to leave.
Helena was stubborn and brutal. She reflected back what others did to her.
Upon hearing the insult from his still-girlfriend, Aiden raised his hand, preparing to hit Helena, but his hand froze in mid-air.
As Helena turned around, Jason was already behind her, holding Aiden’s hand. Not only that, but Jason also twisted Aiden’s arm until the man groaned in pain.
"Argh!" Aiden yelled as Jason finally let go of his arm.
"Never hurt a woman," Jason said in his cold, flat tone.
Clutching his injured wrist, Aiden glared at Jason. "How dare you do that to me." After saying that, his gaze shifted to Helena. "This is what I don’t like about you! You always bring him along wherever you go. Do you know what it’s like for me? When the person who’s supposed to be with you 24/7 is another man and not me!"
Helena’s eyes widened in shock. She struggled to believe that Aiden was actually saying this to her. "Seriously? Jason is just a bodyguard. You don’t even deserve to be jealous of him. Why are you suddenly making an issue out of this with me?"
"I’ve disliked your relationship with him for a long time, Helena. Even though he’s just your bodyguard, I still don’t like him."
"Watch your words about my bodyguard. You don’t have the right to say that." Jason spoke up again on Helena’s behalf.
But Helena raised her hand toward Jason, signaling him to stop. She stepped forward with clenched fists and delivered a slap across Aiden’s face.
"This is for hurting me. Instead of cheating behind my back, why didn’t you just tell me what the real problem was? Instead of playing behind my back like a coward!" Helena vented all her anger on Aiden, even though he was still holding his stinging, red cheek.
The girl in the revealing outfit then shoved Helena’s shoulder. She glared at Helena. "Stop it, Miss! Don’t you understand how Aiden feels when you always stick close to a bodyguard instead of your own boyfriend?"
Seeing this, Helena couldn’t hold back her anger any longer. Her emotions reached a boiling point. Without mercy, Helena began to yank the girl’s hair fiercely. "What do you think you’re doing? You can say all that to me after what you’ve done. Do you think your status as a mistress is more honorable than mine? If so, let me show you your real position."
Helena shoved the girl down hard, forcing her into a position where her head bowed at Helena’s feet. Not stopping there, Helena knelt down and yanked the girl’s hair, making her look up at Helena. "Do you like this? Next time, don’t ever mess with me or take pride in your status. Because in front of people like me, girls like you are worth less than the dust on their feet."
After saying that, Helena threw the girl’s face away. Standing up, she looked at Aiden, who was clearly stunned by Helena’s actions. "And as for you, Aiden. From now on, I’m freeing you. We don’t need to be together anymore. Today, I’ve realized that we were never equal in any way."
After a few moments of staring at Aiden sharply, Helena turned around and tossed her long hair. She walked with determination, as if showing everyone who she really was.
Jason followed her faithfully as usual. But once they reached the car, Helena could no longer hold back her pain. She couldn’t pretend to be strong anymore. A single tear fell, although she tried to wipe it away roughly.
