Ch. 13BECOMING

Wiska arrived at his duplex, the house he acquired during his time in Sweden. While in Sweden, he had been sending money to his uncle in Lagos, with the hope of acquiring a magnificent building.

Upon arrival, Wiska wasn't alone; he was accompanied by his fiancée, a South African woman he met in Sweden. Wiska and his newfound love were deeply fond of each other.

As they carefully observed the house, Wiska confirmed that all the money he had sent to his uncle had not been in vain.

He contacted Jeff once more, and within 30 minutes, Jeff had managed to drive to Wiska's house.

When the two friends finally met, they were engulfed by their friendship, thrilled to see each other again after a long time apart.

However, Wiska couldn't ignore Jeff's imbalance and the smell of alcohol emanating from his mouth. It was clear from his behavior and the strong odor that Jeff was intoxicated.

Unable to keep up the pretense any longer, Wiska confronted him.

My friend, don't you think you've had too much to drink? You should rest now," Wiska suggested, concerned for Jeff's well-being.

"Too much? Nothing can be too much for me," Jeff said, laughing scornfully, clearly out of sorts.

As Jeff continued to ramble, Wiska gently guided him outside to rest.

Meanwhile, Stella was spending time with her friend Linda when she left Jeff's house. Although her current location was fine, she longed for happiness. The constant visits from Linda's boyfriend made her stay unbearable at times.

One afternoon, Stella narrowly avoided a dangerous situation. Linda's boyfriend showed up at the house, aware that Linda would be at her shop. He knocked repeatedly, and Stella, knowing his intentions, chose not to open the door.

However, he became increasingly aggressive, pounding on the door until Stella reluctantly opened it for him. In a fit of rage, Linda's boyfriend barged into the house, demanding answers.

"What's the meaning of this nonsense? You locked me out? What is wrong with you?" he yelled angrily.

Linda's boyfriend's anger manifested in a barrage of questions, but Stella remained silent, unwilling to engage with him.

"I don't know you, and I don't know your mission in this house, but you have to be very careful not to cross my path," Linda's boyfriend warned Stella, his tone laced with menace.

Stella couldn't contain her frustration. "Can you listen to yourself?" she retorted, confronting him. "You think I don't know you or what you want? All you men are the same. I saw your mood and the way you looked at me lustfully the day I came. Besides, you know that Linda will be in her shop, so why are you here?" she exposed him.

As Stella spoke, Linda's boyfriend struggled to find the right words, feeling guilty for his actions. Lustfully, he stared at Stella, his desire evident in his erect member.

"I want you to calm down. I didn't come for Linda but for you," he confessed, his voice filled with a mixture of desire and remorse.

"For me?" Stella began to question him, but before she could finish, Linda's boyfriend pressed his lips to hers in a forceful kiss. Stella, caught off guard, felt vulnerable and unable to resist as their mouths intertwined, mixing in a passionate embrace.

They kissed for a while, and Linda's boyfriend began to make advances, attempting to undress Stella. However, Stella found inner strength and forcefully pushed him away before running out of the house, her mind racing with confusion and fear about what to do next.

As Stella approached the gate, she was intercepted by Linda's sudden appearance. Covered in shame and guilt, Stella's rough appearance did not go unnoticed by Linda, who sensed that something was wrong.

"Why are you palpitating, and why do you look so rough? What's going on?" Linda asked with curiosity, trying to understand the situation.

Stella was about to explain herself when Linda's boyfriend emerged from the room, surprising both women.

"Babe, what's up? Are you back already or did you come to get something?" Linda's boyfriend asked, feigning innocence.

Linda, already suspicious of the situation, questioned him, "What are you doing here? You didn't inform me that you were coming."

He quickly concocted a lie, "Yes, that's true. It was actually an impromptu visit. My battery died, so I couldn't call. I'm sorry, dear."

Linda, sensing something amiss, continued to probe, "So, what are you doing here now?" she asked politely but with an undertone of suspicion.

You know I'm a plumber, so I came around to inspect some work," Linda's boyfriend continued with his fabricated explanation. "You mentioned that your water system was faulty, so I decided to check on it as well," he added, lying again to cover up his true intentions.

Linda listened to his explanation but remained skeptical, pointing out Stella's rough appearance. "I was asking you why are you rough," she pressed Stella for an explanation.

Before Stella could respond, Linda's boyfriend interjected, "Stella is not feeling well. She was taking a nap when I arrived, so I sent her to the pharmacy to buy drugs for me. My head was pounding when I got here, and she rushed out to get the medicine." Another lie rolled off his tongue smoothly.

Stella nodded in agreement, playing along with the charade to avoid further conflict.

Linda, although still uneasy about the situation, managed to believe their explanations, albeit reluctantly. "I'm so sorry, babe. How are you feeling now?" she asked her boyfriend, showing concern.

"Much better, as you can see," he responded with a smile that seemed to reassure Linda, even though she still felt uneasy.

"Alright, I actually rushed in to get something from the house," Linda said, changing the subject. "And again, please always notify me before coming over. As you can see, I'm not the only one in this house now," she requested, hinting at the need for privacy.

It's alright, dear, I understand," Linda's boyfriend responded, his guilt and unease evident in his demeanor.

"Okay, babe, I will be going now," he said, insisting on leaving as he felt increasingly uncomfortable.

"How about the drugs? Can't you at least wait to take them?" Linda asked, concerned about his health.

"Like I told you, I am fine now, so there will be no need for that," he lied, assuring Linda that he was okay.

As Linda entered the room, she was taken aback by the disorder and untidiness. "Why is everywhere rough and untidy?" she questioned rhetorically, sensing that something was amiss.

Although Linda couldn't pinpoint the cause, she had a strong feeling that something had gone wrong. Deciding to seek clarity, she called for Stella with a solemn expression.

"Hey, Stella, please come," she called out, her face reflecting her concerns. "I am still contemplating why my boyfriend came here at this odd time, and also, the state of the room has raised some questions," she explained, gesturing with her hand to demonstrate the disorder.

"My dear Stella, tell me the truth. Is there anything I need to know?" Linda asked, seeking honesty and reassurance from her friend.

Stella was lost in thought, wishing the ground would just open up and swallow her. Despite her efforts to conceal everything from her friend, her mind raced, and her breath quickened.

Struggling to find the right words, Stella opted for simplicity, applying the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Short and Simple) formula. "My friend Linda, you worry too much. Nothing happened, okay?" she said, attempting to reassure her friend.

"As for the messy room, I apologize. I was actually taking a nap when your boyfriend arrived, so I had to rush out when he said he was feeling better," Stella explained, hoping Linda would accept her explanation.

"You are my friend, and you know I would never do anything to hurt you," Stella added, looking to see if Linda believed her lies.

Relieved by her friend's reassurance, Linda relaxed and embraced Stella. Later, Linda went into her room to retrieve something, leaving Stella alone with her thoughts.
