"It amazes how you always have time for everything, Red," Irani commented to Red beside her.
They were at his house that day. They were eating popcorn while watching cartoons in the TV room.
A week has passed since they became officially together.
Darn. Everything felt surreal for her Irani. Until now, she still couldn't believe that they were already together. Who would have thought that she would end up with Red? Not certainly her.
"Time management, Cassidy. Priorities." Red said, winking at her.
Every time her class ended, Red would drive her home. Aside from being a student-athlete, he was also a band member. But despite that, he still has time for her.
Irani pursed her lips while looking at Red who was now busy watching the show on the TV screen. She pondered on his answer and wondered if she was one of his priorities. That thought made her smile.
"Why are you smiling?" Red asked, now looking at her. "You looked happy, shortcake."
"Nothing," she said, pursing her lips.
“Hmm, what does it feel like that I'm already your boyfriend now?" he asked, a teasing smile on his face. "I still remembered clearly how you use to call me monkey before."
She rolled her eyes at him and playfully shot him with popcorn in the face. “Shut up, Red.”
Red grinned before he stole a kiss on her lips.
“Red!” she muttered, her eyes widened at him.
“Your lips are now my favorite dessert,” he said, smiling at her. "I love kissing them, shortcake."
Irani just pursed her lips. So this is what it feels like to be in love. Every day with Red feels like heaven.
She saw his wallet on the coffee table. She took it and opened it. Her lips parted a little when she saw they had a picture together in his wallet. That was their Polaroid picture when they ate at the Unicorn Cafe.
“That’s our first picture together,” Red said beside her. He put the bowl of popcorn on the table and grabbed his cell phone.
“Let’s take a picture,” he said as he put his arms around her shoulder. He used his other hand to open his phone and snap a picture of them together.
“I’ll post this on Instagram,” Red said, looking at their picture on his phone screen. Irani was pouting at the photo while Red was looking handsome beside her.
“Don't!” she said.
“Why don't you want to, shortcake?" Red asked, raising his eyebrows at her. "You still don’t want them to know you’re mine?”
She pouted her lips. "I looked ugly there."
“No, you looked cute here, shortcake," he said, smiling at her.
She playfully rolled her eyes at him as she felt her cheeks heated up. “Fine,” she said in the end.
Red smiled before he stood up from the couch. “Bathroom break, baby.” He kissed her cheek before going out.
A minute after Red went out, Irani's cell phone rang.
Red Dela Merced tagged a photo with you.
Irani's lips parted when she saw that he posted their photo on Facebook and Instagram with the caption #Meandmybaby.
“She’s with me,” Grey said to the guard after they arrived at the bar entrance where the celebration of their basketball team was happening.
"Thanks, Grey," Irani said after the guard let them enter.
Grey smiled at her. "No worries, Irani. Wait, I'll go out for a while. Cashmere is calling."
Irani nodded at her best friend's boyfriend. Yup, just like her and Red, Grey and Cashmere were already together.
Their basketball team won the inter-school tournament the reason why they were having a celebration that night.
Irani told Red that she couldn't come with him because she had a project she needed to finish. But it was a lie. The truth is, she wanted to surprise him.
She bit her lower lip and looked around to look for her boyfriend.
But then her lips parted in shock when she saw a familiar built of a guy… She was sure it was Red… He was kissing another girl.
“Excuse me!”
Irani almost fell down when someone bumped into her. Her shoulder ached. But it was nothing compared to what her heart was feeling right now. Her heart was torn into two…
She hurriedly went out of that place while her tears were falling from her eyes. She didn't bother to brush the tears off her face.
“Irani…” Her eyes were blurry with tears as she looked up to that familiar voice. Drei was standing in front of her. His brows were in a straight line as he looked at her face.
“What happened?" Drei asked in a concerned tone. "Why are you crying, Irani? Is it Red? Did he hurt you?”
Irani bit her lower lip hard to stop her tears from falling. “I saw him…kissing another girl.”
One. Two. There. She felt like her heart was being stabbed a couple of times.
She saw how Drei's jaw clenched. “Damn him. If I only knew that he's just going to hurt, I wouldn't let him have you." His voice was full of regret.
Irani stilled. “W-what do you mean?” she asked him in a confused voice. "I don't understand, Drei."
“I like you, Cassidy…” Drei admitted. He raised his hand and gently wiped the tears off her face.
“But then Red told me you're only fascinated with me… and that he's the one you really like. He then asked me to let him have you. He’s my senior in the team and I don’t want to have bad blood with him. Besides, he promised me he will take care of you so I agreed…”
Drei smiled sadly. “I thought he was really serious with you. But seeing you hurt right now, I regret what I did."
Irani's eyes widened when she felt a familiar hand pull her away from Drei. It was Red. He was beside her. Everything happened so fast. The next thing she knew, Drei was already sitting on the concrete sidewalk.
