On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Karen discovers that her foster parents intend to marry her off in order to collect a large bride price. Karen and her boyfriend Tommy decide to elope, but before they can, her parents whisk her away and hand her over to a powerful wizard king, who intends to marry Karen to his son. Tommy and Karen’s best friend, Clare, hunt for Karen in an attempt to rescue her. But the hunters become the hunted, as Tommy and Clare discover that not only are the king’s men searching for them, but a mysterious rider is following them. Tommy and Clare battle obstacles—and each other—in their attempt to rescue Karen from the clutches of the wizard king.
