Ch. 12THE PRICE OF THE MULTI-BILLION HEIR

“What are you offering? Or should I say, how much are you willing to pay for termination of the Mazur’s next heir?” I speak, summoning her notoriety to me.
We lock eyes.
These is the height of the wickedness and animosity in the whole world and in the eras to come, and it is such a pity that I had to be a victim of it. I am still in denial that they actually proposed this to me. That they really sat down, discussed things and came up with such an abomination as a solution to this. It still bothers me to what more extends they can stoop to protect their freaking image and reputation. I still want to believe that I am dreaming. That I am in a movie acting, or watching a soap opera, but I think I should brace this bittersweet fact:
The Mazur’s are not honorable people like I thought. They don’t deserve the high praises that the nation accords them. They are monstrous beasts in disguise. They are heartless and insensitive. They are selfish and careless. They don’t have hearts, and if they do, they have stone hearts. They are rotten to their cores.
“Do not pretend as if this hurts you. I know gold diggers of your kind. You can even sell your soul to the devil to get what you want. You were just playing hard to get.” she scoffs, and I shock her with a bright smirk that is enough to light up the whole world.
“Then I guess that makes two of us, don’t you think? I mean, you are willing to stoop to such deep, dark, and unimaginable depths just to secure your family’s reputation. Even to an unbelievable extend of killing your own grandchild. Seems your heart is darker than mine, madam!” I mock.
If they are scheming, then the heavens have gifted me with a more scheming sense. If they want us to play, then I am game. And in the end, we will see who the smart one will be. I am actually weirdly enthralled to see the ending of this.
“Do not dare compare me with a pathetic soul like you! I am not a socila claimer. I am not loose like you are. And I am not stupid to not even aim at things out my reach. And my battles, they are all worth, because I am fighting for my beloved family. And don’t even call me a murderer. I proposed that because I knew you can’t say no to money since that was your goal from the start.”
Ooh, really? Madam saint, huh?
“You don’t have to lie madam. You killed your grandchild the moment you came up with this plan. The minute you put a price tag on its life. There is no need playing the saint. It doesn’t even suit you.” I mock, and she smirks back at me.
“It is for the greater good. This is what is right and best for my family. For all of us. And between me, and you who have agreed to kill your own child for money, I am sorry, but you are worse, don’t you think?” She fire back, her smirk broadening like she has hit the exact point.
Laugh all you want, witch. You and your family can laugh all you want. Celebrate if you can, but the most interesting part is that I will not be crying. And if my plan works, then it will be me who will have the last laugh if we ever cross paths again and this bitter pasts starts to haunt you. If ever that time comes, I hope you will still manage to produce this annoying smirk and throw a party.
“Now what? Don’t tell me that guilt is eating you. I didn’t think people like you have conscience.” she speaks, breaking the awkward lull that had engulfed us.
Talk of guilt and conscience. I am guilty as charged about loving wrong, but about anything else, naah, witch! My conscience is clean, and I am at peace my God because the demons have nothing on me. I am too clean of all she is thinking for the demons to haunt me.
“If you are not bothered, I too am perfectly okay with this. I am regretting nothing. And I will never.” I state.
She cocks her head.
“Why did you give me such a hard time if you knew you will eventually agree? Or are you playing games with me, Irma?” She queries, sounding a little bit suspicious.
I cloak my grin. I can not let her grow suspicious.
“I just realized that you were right about almost everything, Madam. I am nothing against this family. I don’t fit in this circle and actually, Ray told me that a while ago, but I was so blinded by love and his betrayal that I didn’t see the true side of it. I don’t have the right to cause any problems to this family. Anyone in their right senses would give anything to be a part of this family, me included, but that is not enough to wrack it. I am letting go.” I say.
She nods her head slightly, still assessing me. I remain composed, not giving her any reason to grow skeptical about my decision.
“This soon? Won’t you try something like fighting for your love? Or tying him down with the baby if you truly loved my son?” She asks, and I know this is a trap to lure me out of my lies.
But she ain’t getting me.I am smarter than her. I have all this planned out and I am not failing. For the sake of my child.
“Loving means holding on as long as there is hope, and also letting go when there is nothing left to hold on to. Ray is getting married, and Tarah is a perfect match for him. I have no chance with him. And tying him down with this baby means tying myself too. I don’t want that.” I state.
She stares for a moment, perhaps weighing my words, and I let her assess them to her satisfaction.
“Alright. So, what is your price?” She asks after a long moment of silence.
My price, huh! How much is my baby worth?
“What are you offering?” I ask.
“One million dollars!” She says, perusing the chequebook, ready to buy my child.
“Just that? My child is not some peanut, you know?” I brat out, and she raised her head, cocking an eyebrow.
“This is more than enough to change your entire life. Have some respect and don’t parade your greediness!” She hissed between gritted teeth, seemingly fuming inside.
Ooh well, they didn’t say that I can’t bargain, right?
“I am not being greedy here. I just think that is mere change for the price of the Mazur’s heir! This is gold that I am throwing, give it your best, madam, or the deal is off.” I speak, and I know I sound like a bitch, but this will be all worth in the end.
“The deal is off? And here I thought you didn’t want to cause trouble anymore. What games are you plying, Irma? My patience with you is running out!” She scoffs.
“I am not playing any games. Just because I said I don’t want more trouble doesn’t mean you can take advantage of that. I know what I am carrying, and I know how much damage it can cause you. Pay me what a Mazur deserves!” I state, and she smirks.
She didn’t think I could be this annoyingly scheming, right? Well, I don’t blame her oblivion. What precisely does she know about me? Nada!
“Ten times the amount, so that you can get your annoying ugly face out our lives, and make sure that thing is flushed out ASAP!” She furiously states, hunching her head to write on the cheque.
But who told this stupid dictatorial witch that she has the final say?
“One billion dollars!” I say, and she snaps her eyes at me, blinking countless times as if she didn’t hear me.
“What?” She snaps. She seems to be going through a mental breakdown. Serves her right.
“You heard me right, and you and I know that what I am doing is worth more than that. Just one billion dollars, and this all will be bygones-my child, and my disgusting face. We will wake up to a new dawn tomorrow far from each other, forever.” I state, and I bet she can not believe that I am actually blackmailing her. If only she knows that she hasn’t won anything against me so far…
She scripts the digits on the cheque and draws her signature, her lips murmuring something that I can’t make out.
“Here!” She throws the signed cheque to my face. “You have milked more than you deserve, but that won’t even cause a scratch to our fortune. I hope you use it well!” She furiously hisses.
“Thank you, for your generosity, madam. And also, I have a lot packing to do so I won’t see Ray. Please pass my gratitude to him. I wouldn’t have all this money if he didn’t make that mistake of planting his seed in me. Until forever, it’s goodbye for me.” I mock, feeling like a number one inside, while she turns around like an enraged lioness and leaves.
I place the mind-blowing cheque on the bed and embark on packing. Hello, tomorrow. Hello new dawn. What awaits me? I hope my plan works.
