Katrina had seduced the manager to the luxury hotel so he could see the CCTV. The manager had told her that the owner of the room was a VIP guest, the reason why Anthony and Robert were unable to extract Amber.
Katrina reveled in her cunning, her mind already racing with plans. She knew Kenneth's heart still held a place for Amber, despite his betrayal. Convincing him that Amber was just as unfaithful as he had been was the perfect way to end any lingering ties between them. It would be easier for him to move on, and Katrina could finally have him all to herself.
Unbeknownst to Amber, Katrina's smile widened as she watched Amber hurry away from the hotel room where she and the stranger had sex for the night. With her torn dress and messy hair, a perfect recipe to make Kenneth believe Amber had a wild night with an old fat pig client.
"Got you," Katrina said triumphantly.
She felt a thrill of satisfaction, knowing she had the perfect ammunition to drive a wedge between Amber and Kenneth. She quickly texted the photos to Kenneth, her fingers trembling with excitement. After sending the message she hurried to Kenneth's mansion making sure she would be the one to comfort him.
Kenneth's phone buzzed with a new message. He picked it up and opened the text, his heart clenching as he saw the photos of Amber leaving the hotel room. A wave of confusion and anger washed over him, his mind racing with questions. Why was Amber at a hotel? What was she doing there?
Katrina's message followed. "Amber was with a VIP guest at the hotel. I can't even believe innocent Amber would do such a thing. I thought you should know, Kenneth. Seems like Amber's been keeping secrets too."
Kenneth's heart ached as he stared at the photos, his feelings for Amber clashing with the evidence before him. He couldn't believe it, but the images were undeniable. Doubt and betrayal twisted in his gut, and he struggled to reconcile his lingering feelings for Amber with the apparent reality.
As Katrina arrived at Kenneth's mansion, she watched Kenneth's reaction, looking at his phone. She smirked with satisfaction, her plan unfolding perfectly. She stepped closer to Kenneth, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry you had to see this, Kenneth," she said softly. "I can't help but show you everything I know." Katrina pulled out her phone and showed some photos of Amber working at the club. Although Amber was working there as a mere waitress, Katrina only showed the photos where Amber wore a very short dress as a uniform, making her look like a slut.
"Isn't this place full of dirty old men trying to get young lady escorts?" Kenneth said questioningly, anger bubbling within him.
"That's exactly the place, Kenneth," Katrina said, her voice laced with concern, but a smirk crept on her lips when Kenneth wasn't looking.
Kenneth gritted his teeth as he looked at her, his expression torn.
Katrina's eyes softened, though the triumph remained beneath the surface. "Kenneth, sometimes people aren't who we think they are. Maybe now you can finally move on."
Kenneth nodded slowly, the pain of betrayal cutting deep. As Katrina pulled him into a comforting embrace, she smiled for her victory, just as she had planned.
"Shameless bitch, you're a traitor to our family. You whore!"
All Amber heard as she arrived home was the evil hiss of her stepmother, whose eyes were cold and accusatory, fixated on the marks of her body.
Last night, she accidentally slept with an unknown man. Amber shook her head to defend herself, "I was drugged. I didn't do it intentionally."
"Not intentionally?" Her stepmother Valentina huffed. "Do you know how much trouble you've gotten us into?"
Amber tearfully shook her head in denial when her stepmother waved the whip in her hand. She knew how much it would hurt. Every time Valentina felt Amber annoyed her badly, she would whip her, leaving scars that took months to disappear.
"Not only did you have the guts to ruin Mr.Lee's clothes, but you dared to hit him?" Valentina scolded her. "You have to work all your ass life to afford the money he asked for!"
"But he was planning to rape me!" Amber couldn't help but cry out.
"Then just let him fck," Valentina taunted without concern. "Open your easy legs for Mr. Lee; at least get us benefits. It would be better than sleeping with some other wild man to earn no penny."
Amber's eyes widened in disbelief, tears falling down her cheek. She knew her stepmother had always disliked her and her late sister Monique, but she had never thought Valentina would want to ruin her so badly.
Ever since the duo mom and daughter had moved in, this big house was no longer a home for her and Monique. Father had always been aloof from their suffering. Amber felt like running away, but what about Chase if she ran away?
"Now, she lost her job. Mom, are we still paying for Chase's medical bills?" Her stepsister Katrina revealed from the shadow, gloating at Amber.
Valentina scoffed. "Of course not. And that's on you,” she pointed to Amber, sitting on the floor. "This is your fault. If Chase dies, it's because you refused to help him."
Amber immediately pleaded, holding Valentina's legs. "No. Please don't stop paying Chase's medical bill. I will find a new job. I swear I will perform better this time."
Monique had been her only savior while she was alive. She always shielded Amber with all her mind, and now she was gone, Amber felt obliged to protect her son. If she just ran away, they would have given up on him directly, leaving him for dead. She couldn't let it happen.
Valentina enjoyed her pleading face as she pried off Amber's hands on her legs. Cunning flashed across his eyes.
"Since you've pleaded so hard, there's only one way for you," Valentina deliberately paused, giving Amber a bad feeling.
"Marriage," Valentina's words cut through the suffocating air. "Marry the son of the Morgan’s, or watch Chase die."
Amber felt it like a bomb exploding in her head. "Why me?" she asked. Though Amber hadn't known any Morgan’s in her life, the ancient heritage and vast properties of the Morgan’s were known to many. They are a very powerful family.
"Does it matter?" Katrina said nonchalantly as if marriage wasn't a big deal.
"You should be grateful that you have the honor to marry such a prominent family," Valentina added, exchanging a knowing look with her own daughter.
There's no way this mother-and-daughter duo would marry her to a decent man from a noble family. Amber smelled plotting almost immediately.
It was like Katrina could read Amber's mind, she interjected. "But don't get too carried away. Stefan was a man deemed loathsome in appearance and reputation, which is why he is half-exiled from the family."
"Half-exiled? What does it mean?" Amber asked in confusion.
Katrina smirked wickedly. "Do you think we will let you marry the real heir of the Morgan? Who do you think you are? Look at yourself, you whore."
Amber had fully regained her senses that this mother-and-daughter duo was planning to sell her again. Sacrificing her to an unloved son would gain them the shelter of the Morgan family. What a deal.
"But...but how should I explain it to Kenneth," Amber muttered, trying to fight this injustice.
Kenneth had been her boyfriend for years, whom she promised to marry and keep her virginity for. But she had no idea how to face him after all that had happened last night. He might be able to understand it was an accident last night, but how would he forgive her for abandoning him to marry another?
"Don't ever think about Kenneth again," Katrina laughed mockingly and crouched to whisper in her ear. "He's already mine, and I'm carrying his baby. You're nothing to him."
