[Lucy's POV]
"Are you happy to be a member of our family, Lucy?" Ma'am Christy asked with a smile as she placed her freshly made strawberry moist cake in the middle of the dining table.
"Y-yes." I almost choked on my water from lying.
If only she knew, the anxiety I was feeling right now was making my heart race all the way to my bladder because once again, we were surrounded by Raizel's servants.
What's more? I had to sit next to him, with his bodyguards behind us. I had no other choice but to follow him, or I might end up in deeper trouble later.
Luckily, his mom decided to visit on my first day in her son's mansion. This gave me some hope that today might be peaceful and quiet.
But worse, Ma'am Christy made it look like a feast with all the food she prepared for the "Welcome and Thanksgiving party" she organized for me.
If Ma'am Christy knew what happened yesterday, she might faint from stress. What her son did was beyond terrible.
I subtly shook my head as I poked the marble potatoes on my plate. Memories of everything that happened came flooding back, and I couldn't help but feel terrified of her son, all the way down to my toes.
Can I still back out? Can I take back the help they gave me? Because right now, I feel like I made the wrong decision in life.
I suddenly sighed deeply, which caught Raizel’s attention because my voice was louder than I intended. He froze and immediately raised an eyebrow at me. This man was truly full of attitude.
"What?" he mouthed.
I looked at him. "Nothing," I whispered under my breath.
“This is the happiest I’ve ever seen my son. Thanks for making him happy, dear,” Ma'am Christy said, smiling.
"Because there’s—"
I almost choked on the meat I was chewing because of the glare Raizel gave me.
As if he was saying, *talk about me and you're dead*. I quickly ended my sentence.
"Because he finally has someone to be with. Sir isn’t hard to get along with."
Of course, I was going to stay silent and do everything I could to ensure his family slept here tonight.
"Get me some water," he ordered, looking straight at me.
Not even a "please" from this grumpy Mafia Lord. His attitude is beyond frustrating! Ridiculous!
The servants quickly moved to get water, but they all froze when Raizel shouted, "Stop."
He immediately turned his attention to me.
I was just sitting here quietly.
"I want MY HONEY to GET ME SOME WATER!" Raizel emphasized, still staring at me.
I was about to continue eating, but I felt all the servants behind me staring too. I glanced around, realizing he was talking about me.
Nervously, I turned to him, my eyes widening when I saw the expression on his face—it was unreadable.
"M-Me, Sir?" I stammered, almost choking on the food in my mouth.
He nodded, and I understood everything. I quickly stood up and obeyed his order, chewing nervously and forcing myself to swallow the food. I was sure I'd get indigestion because of this boss.
I heard a mischievous chuckle from the person beside me, clearly entertained by what was happening. I glanced over and saw them grinning.
I couldn’t deny that he looked extremely handsome. It’s just a shame his attitude was awful.
I carefully poured the water from the pitcher into the glass in front of him. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his mom watching intently, smiling from ear to ear.
Probably because she heard her son call me "honey" and even smiled.
Do I look like a jester to them?
Unbelievable!
"Shit!"
I snapped out of it when I heard Raizel’s startling voice. I didn’t realize I had overfilled his glass in my nervousness.
Damn it! I just wanted to become a potato out of fear!
"Sorry! I’m really sorry!" I almost knelt down to beg.
In the moments that followed, I became emotional. I was on the verge of tears from fear, worried that my mistake might cost me my life.
Raizel's silence, along with everyone else's, only made my anxiety worse. They were all staring at me.
I’m doomed! His glare alone made my entire body tremble.
"I’m really sorry, Sir. I even got your eggs wet."
My eyes widened at the words that slipped out of my mouth.
I immediately covered my mouth. I didn’t mean to say anything else other than referring to the eggs on his plate.
I must have also worried Ma'am Christy because she stood up from her seat. Everyone was now looking at me, including Raizel's siblings.
It’s only now that I realize how intimidating they all are. Doesn’t his mom have a daughter?
My whole body was shaking with fear. I wanted to disappear into thin air.
Luckily, Ma'am Christy was the first to reach out to me.
"It’s okay, dear. Don’t worry," Ma'am Christy tried to calm me, but I was already frozen in fear. "My son won’t get mad at you. I think he actually likes you."
What!
He likes me?
If only you knew, Ma’am. Your son is on a whole different level.
Raizel’s two brothers almost spit out their food at their mom’s comment. There was a brief silence before the room erupted in laughter.
"Ezekiel! Mikey! Stop laughing!"
Ma'am Christy scolded the two, but they didn’t listen. They kept laughing, while I couldn’t understand the look on Raizel’s face.
"Raizel is an idiot, just like her. He’s just playing with her, Mom. It’s impossible for him to like a girl."
I froze when I heard what Raizel's brother said. If I’m not mistaken, that was Ezekiel.
It turns out this one is just as mischievous as his older brother. Now I know why their mom needed my help.
"But, what does Ezekiel mean? Is Sir Raizel gay?" I muttered to myself.
It felt like my anxiety slowly faded. Instead, I wanted to laugh at the thought, but I held it in.
The lunch party ended, and I was still alive. I didn’t know how long I’d last, but I needed the money, so that should be my focus.
That afternoon, the servants were busy around the mansion. I just heard Sir Raizel giving orders to them.
He was sitting on a sofa, one leg casually resting on the coffee table while he was engrossed in reading the business section of a newspaper when he suddenly spoke, "Make her look presentable."
I was shocked at what Raizel said to his servants before he closed the newspaper and placed it on the table. Then he stood up and left to prepare himself.
The servants led me into the main room. Apparently, he was going to have a meeting with a client, and I needed to be there. I sadly nodded. Because of my mistake, his family had to leave early.
"Miss, please undress," one of Raizel’s servants quietly instructed.
I was startled by her words. "What?!"
"This is what we’ll have you wear."
My eyes widened at what Erza said. She was the first person I met here when I was looking for a broom yesterday.
She showed me a black sling dress. It was short, and even without trying it on, I could tell it wouldn’t reach my knees. It was backless and incredibly sexy.
"Sorry, Erza. That outfit is too revealing." I declined the dress she was holding.
She shook her head and sighed. "Apologies, Miss. Sir Raizel chose it, so we can’t refuse. Who knows what he might make us do if he finds out you don’t want to wear it."
Everyone agreed with what Erza said. Even though they had the dress, high heels, and makeup, I still couldn’t feel at ease.
"Should we tell Sir that you don’t want to wear the dress?" Erza asked.
Wait! Are they blackmailing me?
I forced a smile at them and grabbed the dress from Erza’s hands.
"No! I really like it! You’re too funny. Just give me a second, and I’ll put it on. This is exciting!"
Damn it! I’m going crazy with everything that’s happening.
I rushed into the bathroom, out of breath. I wanted to pull my hair out because of my foolishness. I felt like I had entered a jungle full of wild animals.
I didn’t know how long it took to put on the dress, but all I knew was that I kept tugging it down because it was so short.
When I came out, they immediately sat me in front of the mirror and started doing my hair and makeup. Erza even loudly told them to hurry because Raizel was getting impatient.
Six of them were working on me. Two were curling my hair, three were applying makeup, and one was putting cream on my feet before slipping the five-inch black heels on me, which matched the dress.
I tried to recognize the reflection in the mirror. This wasn’t the Lucy I knew. My eyes looked captivating, probably because of the smoky eyeshadow they applied. My eyebrows were perfectly shaped, my lips were red, and my skin tone contrasted beautifully with the color of my dress. My curves were accentuated by the tight fit of the dress, and my back was completely exposed due to the backless design.
"Just tell me if it's impossible for her to look human. Is it that hard?"
I swallowed hard when Raizel suddenly entered the room. He was now wearing a black semi-formal tuxedo, which seemed to perfectly match the dress I had on. His hair was neatly styled, and he looked incredibly handsome.
I just smiled at him.
He quickly averted his gaze and turned around. To my surprise, I saw his right arm extended in front of me.
It felt like a hundred angels passed between us.
Does this mean I’m supposed to take his arm?
This is crazy! He doesn’t plan to have me taken out, right? Not with how stunning I look right now. No way!
