Ch. 11Secretly Becoming an enemy

That morning, Frisilia woke up from her deep sleep. She immediately checked her phone and found a lot of messages as she checked them one by one. She suddenly came across a message from an unknown number.
"Good morning, I hope you have a great day," the message read. Frisilia looked puzzled, wondering who could have sent her such a sweet message. Then she remembered she had just exchanged phone numbers with Theodor.

"Could this be from Theodor?" she wondered.
"Sisil! It's already noon. aren't you running late?" Frisilia's mother shouted, calling her name.

Frisilia glanced at the time on her phone, then hurriedly ran to the bathroom as she was already late for school due to a mentoring session she had to conduct with her students. Frisilia didn't have time to reply to the message because she was already very late. Her mother asked her to have breakfast first, but unfortunately, she had to leave immediately.

On the other hand, Theodor was still waiting for a reply from Frisilia. He was puzzled as to why Frisilia hadn't responded to his message yet. During breakfast, he kept checking his phone, which raised many questions from those around him. Theodor did not seem like his usual self. His mother asked first, followed by his grandfather, then his father, and finally his brother Jacob.

"Someone's in love," Jacob quipped. Responding to that, Theodor gave Jacob a sarcastic look. Even Gibson and Jiny, who seemed indifferent, looked at Theodor. They were curious if Jacob's statement was true.

"Shut up and mind your own business!" Theodor snapped at Jacob. Then Theodor tried to lighten the mood. He started discussing work with his father, so that others wouldn't suspect him. Gibson and Jiny looked disappointed because the performance wasn't intriguing for them. Gibson and Jiny then excused themselves first from Gilbert, followed by Elden and Theodor. Naura didn't join them for breakfast that morning because she was still asleep.

Anna then asked the housekeeper to bring breakfast to Naura's room. After that, she accompanied Gilbert for a tea break. Anna was quite close to Gilbert. Anna spent more time at home, overseeing all the household chores. Jiny was different. She was a rich kid who never had to do hard work at the Burg house. Jiny always spent her time outside with her socialite friends. That's why Gilbert trusted Anna more.

Yasmin rarely spent time at home with herself. As a career-oriented woman, she often spent her time alone at the office. She also infrequently communicated with Gilbert, although she still lived at the Burg residence.

During the tea break, Gilbert started discussing something serious with Anna. "Anna, do you know about the problems your husband and eldest son are facing?" Gilbert suddenly asked.

"Problems? What kind of problems? Is it serious?" Anna started to panic.
"There's a financial issue in the company, and they're both investigating it," Gilbert explained.

Anna fell silent for a moment. She didn't understand the company's situation, but it weighed heavily on her mind. She didn't want her husband and son to face difficulties. And Anna knew that this was related to Gibson and Yasmin. Anna then tried to ask without implicating Gibson and Yasmin. Gilbert tried to explain to Anna that he trusted his family, but when it came to money matters, he didn't know whether to trust them or not.

Anna understood that it wasn't easy to run a company that was building from scratch, but she also didn't want Elden and Theodor to be the ones to take the blame in the end. She reassured Gilbert that it was just a misunderstanding and miscommunication.

At the Company.

Theodor refocused on his work. He didn't think Frisilia would reply. For Theodor, if Theodor was at the company, his mind couldn't be distracted by anything else because, for him, the company was a battlefield. If he let his guard down, he would lose. Theodor was still digging into the financial reports that didn't add up. He thought he needed to discuss this with his uncle's secretary. So he called Gwen into his office.

They started talking. Gwen acted honestly to avoid suspicion. Theodor didn't have any suspicions towards her. Because he believed Gwen wouldn't manipulate the data she provided him. Gwen tried to gain sympathy from Theodor to maintain his trust. Then, Gibson found Gwen with Theodor.

Gibson felt a surge of anger. He started to feel jealous because Gwen didn't tell him she was meeting Theodor. Gibson hurriedly entered Theodor's office.

"What are you doing here?" Gibson asked, hands on his hips.
"Uncle, I was just checking some documents with him. Do you need anything?" Theodor began to tidy up his documents.
"Oh, I see. No problem," Gibson said arrogantly. "Gwen, I'll wait for you in my office."

Gwen quickly organized her documents. She looked like she was smiling sweetly at Theodor. It was as if she was asking Theodor to understand her actions. Gwen then excused herself. Theodor went back to his work.

Gibson looked sour. Gwen hugged him from behind. Gibson let go of her hands immediately. He tried to sulk at Gwen.

"What's wrong with your attitude? Are you sulking?" Gwen said playfully.
"Do you like him?" Gibson asked. Gwen smiled because she felt Gibson's jealousy towards her.

She immediately stood in front of Gibson and pulled his face towards her. She kissed his cheek and said comforting words to calm Gibson down. Gibson, who was initially annoyed, calmed down thanks to Gwen's kiss. Gwen then explained the purpose of her visit to Theodor's office. She did it all for Gibson. They both started being affectionate in the office.

Gibson told Gwen that he couldn't do this openly in the office. He asked Gwen to accompany him after work. He had prepared a luxurious hotel room for them to meet that night. Gwen looked happy because Gibson had Completely sided with her.

"How about it? Do you like it?" Gibson asked Gwen affectionately. Gwen smiled as she looked at him.
