CAMILLA
I woke up to the loud sound buzzing from my phone that was ringing. I picked it up, and upon checking the time, it was just 4:00 a.m. I checked the person that called, but I don't save the number on new my phone. Remember that my phone was damaged that night, so I got a new iPhone 12 promax on instalments.
I answered when it rang again so that I could rant at the idiot calling me, and it was none other than Madeline.
Camilla, where have you been? Have you run away, too? You should have dropped the house documents even if you want to run. I went to your dormitory, and the receptionist said you're not in the dormitory again, that you pulled out. Wherever you have run to, you should come back home because this Saturday is your wedding.
Whose wedding? I told you to sort yourself out, that I was not interested in the annoying wedding you arranged.
You must be joking….she snapped. Then where is the seventy-five thousand dollars? You must carry the cross of your dad's mistake, not me.
Did you consult for my interest before you proceeded with the marriage arrangement? Are you my mother? Anyway, I will try to send you the money within the weekend.
Where do you want to see that significant amount of money? Will you end up a porn star? Whoops! Will you sell any of your organs? Probably you might be working in a company that is into hard drugs and human trafficking or slave trading.
I wanted to scream at her, but Aria was asleep beside me.
Well, you should be quiet. All I know, however, is an assured fact that I'm not getting married to that old fool. Stop disturbing me. I will do anything just to make sure that I don't get married to him. I am only trying to pay back the money because my dad was involved. The next time you make an impulsive decision like this on me. I will make sure I drag you to court until you get into jail.
I hung up the call and couldn't sleep anymore. I got up from the bed and sat at my desk. I brought out all my student savings books, and all the money I had was not up to five thousand dollars, and I was bragging about repaying seventy-five thousand dollars in the next five days.
Archie is paying me a thousand bucks each week, which amounts to 4000 dollars monthly. Even in a year, I still can't repay seventy-five thousand dollars. I knew Mr. Collins paid that huge on purpose so that someone wouldn't have a choice but to settle for him. I shook my head wildly to rebuke settling for him.
I went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch for Aria. I was going to school that day as well. That seventy-five thousand dollars made my stomach churn. Finally, the dawn was here, and the time was speedy too, as if it was working against me. It was 8:00 am, and I got Aria ready for school. Her driver took her to school. When I walked into the elevator, and it opened to take me out of the building toward school, Archie was in there with his regular gym white shirt with an undershirt singlet on.
Short of it, my eyes just moved off quickly, and my mind pounded high. Something in me told me to talk to him and borrow the money. I didn't hesitate.
"Good morning Archie…"
"Good morning, Camilla." Hope you're good?He responded.
Please, I desperately need your help. Only you can help me for now.
How can I help you?
Please, I need seventy-five thousand dollars. I need you to lend me, and I will be repaying every month. I won't run away.
He choked from the water he drank. I bet he was surprised like me. Why do you need that sum of money?
My stepmother sold me for that amount to an older man because I got a scar on my face; in her eyes, I became worthless.
Why would she do that without your consent, and she's not even your mother? You have to sue her in court. He picked up his phone to call the lawyer.
I grabbed the phone and told him I didn't want to sue her because of some personal reasons.
Okay, I will lend you the money. He went upstairs and came back all dressed, with a check that had seventy-five thousand dollars written in it; I shrieked in shock. I was grateful to him.
He helped me to get to school and I dropped off at the campus gate. The car rode off and I screamed in a deadly voice that I didn't believe it was mine.
I went to the bank to have the check changed into cash and thus deposited into a checking account. On the way, I met Mark and Olivia from the bank. By this time, I ignored them, but Olivia bumped on me. She bumped into me so hard that my bag fell and everything scattered on the floor.
Mark apologized and helped to packed my stuff. Olivia tried to protested and stopped him from packing my things, but he still did. That is when he saw the seventy-five thousand dollar check made out with my name on it. His eyes nearly bugged out of their sockets. I took the check from him and left the scene.I bet he thought I won some lottery.
Then, after the money was changed into cash, I called Madeline for Mr. Collins' details; she sent it, and I credited him. She was so shocked that she asked me what happened to me to have that money. I did not mind her.She was cursing that I have that kind of money, and they've been suffering all these while.
What's my business if you and your daughter are suffering? You guys should do something for real this time to make money. As soon as I hung up and was about to leave, someone came and bumped into me, and when I looked up, it was Anna.
I bent down and picked my stuff, but I was so pissed off. She put one of her legs on one of my books.I told her to take her leg, but she refused, so I stabbed her with a pen on her leg and went my way.
