Jared drove Caroline home to her apartment. He made sure she was resting comfortably in her room. He literally waited there until Caroline was sleeping peacefully on her soft bed.
"This room is a complete mess," Jared said as he looked around.
It was still the same as yesterday because Caroline hadn't had time to clean up. Let alone taking care of the apartment, she didn't even have time to take care of herself.
"Get someone to clean up this room." Jared looked at Thalius, giving the order.
"Yes, sir." The man quickly did as Jared asked.
No need to wait long; a maid came to clean up the mess. The room, which had looked so messy and disheveled, now began to look tidy. However, it looked empty.
Jared took Thalius and Donny to the furniture store, buying things he thought would be good to put in Caroline's apartment space. He completely transformed what was once a messy room into the space of everyone's dreams. He even replaced all the furniture in there.
There were expensive paintings on the walls. A television with a big screen, fitting flowers, urns, and other expensive furniture.
When Caroline woke up and left the room, she was surprised to find the room different from usual. She thought she was in the wrong apartment. However, when she checked her room again, she was actually in her room. This confused Caroline even more. Why did her apartment suddenly look so different and luxurious?
Caroline called her mom, asking if her mom had come home and cleaned up the mess.
"I haven't had a chance to come home yet because your papa hasn't woken up until now." Bonnie replied in confusion.
"Am I really at fault for the apartment being unwell?" Caroline wondered to herself. She stepped outside, checking the number of the apartment she was staying in. Still, she found that she was in the right apartment. The number 306 was written there.
"This is weird." Caroline was getting confused.
"You're not working today?" Bonnie asked for confirmation, as Caroline had to leave for work.
"My boss asked me to take the day off. He drove me home."
"You should ask your boss what happened. Because he's the last person there besides you."
Caroline just thought about it. Jared had been very kind to her since the incident at the party site. She didn't know why her fiancé's uncle was so different from Jake. Jake had a very bad and brash nature. Jared was the opposite.
"You're right, Mom. I'll ask my boss." Caroline said it firmly.
After disconnecting the phone, Caroline dialed the boss. Her call was not immediately answered, as Jared was very busy at work. She tried repeatedly, but there was still no answer from Jared. This made Caroline feel uneasy because she hadn't found an answer to what was happening. She felt confused and worried.
[Uncle, did you clean up my apartment room? Why are there fancy things there?] Caroline texted. She was afraid that she would be charged for the repairs. She had no money and had to pay off a lot of debt, so she had to be smart with her money.
Caroline waited for a long time until she received an answer.
[Yeah. Consider it an apology from the Corner Family for Jake publicly humiliating you. I haven't had a chance to apologize to you for my nephew being unkind to you.]
[But that's too much.]
[It's not worth the pain Jake has caused, is it?]
Caroline was silent. She didn't know what to say now. Jared's words were true; the pain Jake gave her was very deep. Not worth any amount of money. How could she be thrown away by the man she loved so much and planned to marry?

"Sir, Jake is looking for you." Thalius whispered informingly.
"Tell him I'm very busy and can't be disturbed." Jared replied firmly. He didn't hate Jake; he just didn't like his nephew after what Jake did to Caroline. How could a nephew who was so dear and spoiled have no humanity at all? He didn't think Jake would let Caroline drown to death. Not only did he let her, he even laughed when he saw Caroline struggling to reach the surface.
He would teach him a lesson. A lesson that would open the eyes of his heart to care more about the people around him.
"Uncle!" Jake tried to get into Jared's study. Although Thalius had prevented him, the man continued to try to break through.
Thalius was about to push him away when Jared finally allowed his nephew to stay so they could talk.
"What did you want to say?" Jared gave him a cold stare.
"This is not fair; why are you demoting me??" Jake protested in displeasure.
"Is my reason not clear enough?"
"Just because of Caroline, you demoted me to company manager? I don't want such a lowly position."."
"This is not just a Caroline issue, but a humanitarian issue. What would you do if Caroline drowned at the party you organized? The news will spread everywhere, and our family will be labeled as a family of murderers."
"She fell by herself; I didn't even touch her at all." Jake continued his defense.
"You're guilty because you didn't do anything. You should have empathy when you see someone in distress. Especially when it's someone's life." Jared emphasized.
Jake sighed harshly. "I apologize for that. Now go back to my position as CEO of the subsidiary office."
"I'll give you a chance for six months. If you can behave better, I'll restore your position to what it was. I'll hand over the subsidiary to you, not just make you the CEO." Jared made a promise.
"Are you serious?" Jake was wide-eyed at his uncle's words. This was a very tempting offer. He would have more power if the subsidiary was his instead of just being employed as the CEO.
"Yes, you have my word. I will ask my men to watch your every move; if you behave well for six months, you can take the company as your own. However, if you make trouble just once, I will demote you again." Jared emphasized.
"Fine, I accept your offer. I'll keep your word, Uncle. I'll make good on your promise in the next six months." Jake said it confidently, thinking that he would be successful in accepting Jared's challenge.
"I forgot one thing," Jared said.
"What's that?"
"You have to get Emily to stick by you in your current position. I've told your parents to limit your access to money. So, you can only use the money from the paycheck you'll get. If Emily can survive, you're off the hook."
"What the fuck? Are you serious, Uncle? Why are you complicating my life so much? Do you hate me just because of that fucking girl?" Jake looked furious.
Jared was quite angry when Jake said that, but he tried to act casual in order to cover his feelings.
"I'm doing this because I care and love you, Jake. I want you to be a good and dignified man. I want you to find the right woman. A woman who truly loves you, not just after your fortune. You already threw away a sincere woman like Caroline, so you should get a woman who is better than her, not a woman who is worse than her." Jared said it firmly. "I'll always be watching you, so you can't lie to me."
