Caroline became the talk of the office. Throughout the workday, everyone kept talking about her. Because she became the first woman to eat at the same table as Jared, Everyone could clearly see the attention that the man gave Caroline. They became jealous, also wondering about who the woman really was. Because she had become the center of attention on her first day of work,.
All this time, Jared was known as a boss who was against female employees. Because there are many women who try to flirt with him. Instead of focusing on work, they focus on finding ways to get noticed by Jared. That is why there are only a few female employees there. Many of them have been fired, and few new female employees have been recruited. This was also the case with the woman Caroline had seen. The woman who came out of Jared's office had a very messy appearance.
Caroline thought the woman was forced to serve Jared during working hours. In fact, it was the woman who tried to flirt but was immediately rejected by Jared, even though she took off her clothes. Jared would never look at a woman trying to get a rich man's attention. That's also what attracted him to Caroline, because she was dressed modestly, even though he had asked her to come in a sexy outfit. He just wanted to judge what Caroline's character was like. Whether she would be tempted to seduce Jared in order to get his money or not. In fact, she wasn't even treasure-crazy at all. Nor did she show any interest in Jared. Jared liked women like that.
"Have you known Mr. Madison long?" Lenzy asked as they were getting ready to leave.
"Why?" Caroline asked back.
"You seem to be very close."
"We've known for three years, but not that close." Caroline answered honestly.
"Where do you know each other?" Lenzy asked again.
"I think it's private. I can't tell people I just met about my personal life."
"How arrogant of you! It's not because Mr. Madison is being nice to you that you're being so arrogant. What's so hard about answering a question?" Lenzy said it with annoyance. She seemed to dislike Caroline.
"Does it matter to you?" Caroline was not afraid at all.
"Of course it is. I'm warning you: don't ever think you can get close to Mr. Madison. Only I will be his girlfriend; don't even dream that you can make him fall in love." Lenzy said it with emphasis.
Caroline laughed slightly. "You'd better look in the mirror. Mr. Madison is a rich man; his level is far above ours. Billionaires will only match with fellow billionaires. People from the working class, like us, don't even dream of being one of them. They will only marry and have relationships with people who will give them benefits." Caroline gave advice. She had been dumped by Jake because she was poor, so she would never fall for a rich man again. Being dumped because of the caste difference was very painful. Since when is there a rule that the rich should marry the rich?
"What do you know about that? If you're poor, be poor yourself. I'm not working here because I need the money." Lenzy said it sharply, then left to go home.
Jared, who was not far away, was silent as he heard Caroline's words. The man seemed to understand how much Caroline hated Jake because of the incident that night. He can understand if Caroline behaves like that. However, he was also worried that Caroline would feel hatred towards him because of the relationship he had with Jake.
"Caroline!" Jared called out as Caroline was about to get up.
Caroline turned around, staring at the source of the voice.
"Yes, sir?"
"I need to pick up a file at a lawyer's house. I need you to come with me." Jared looked for a way to take Caroline home. He was sure Caroline would refuse if he offered her a ride.
"You want me to get the files for you?" Caroline asked reassuringly.
"Yes."
"Alright. Let's go quickly, because I have to prepare dinner." Caroline said as she started to walk away.
Jared smiled as he followed Caroline. He stared at her back, his heart beating wildly. He felt like butterflies were fluttering in his stomach as he stared at Caroline's hair moving left and right as she walked. Throughout the trip, he couldn't take his eyes off her at all. He felt that he had truly fallen in love.
"Which car is yours, sir?" Caroline turned around, looking at Jared for an answer.
The smile on Jared's lips instantly disappeared when Caroline turned to look at him. He relaxed, put on a straight face, and pointed at the orange McLaren 765LT in the parking garage.
"That?" Caroline asked reassuringly, her index finger following the direction of Jared's.
"Yes, why?" Jared asked back, seeing the look on Caroline's face.
"The model and color are very striking. You have poor taste; I don't think this kind of car is suitable for the office. It's too fancy." Caroline commented.
"Isn't luxury necessary to convince clients that our company is really trustworthy and reliable because it has a lot of money?" Jared said confidently.
Caroline was silent for a moment. Then she said, "I guess you're right. I just don't understand how rich people think."
"Didn't you also come from the rich class before?"
"Not really. My parents were at this level before they went bankrupt." Caroline raised her hands to waist height. "While your level is above here," She raised her hands far above her head.
Jared wanted to laugh at Caroline's behavior, but he held back to maintain his image in front of her.
A white porch was pulled up right in front of Caroline. Caroline stared with a furrowed brow. Donny got out to open the door, while Thalius stayed in the driving seat.
"Please get in." Jared asked Caroline to get in first.
"We're not taking your unique car." Caroline looked confused.
"No, we're not. It was put in the parking garage for business purposes. I will only drive it if I have a meeting with a client."
"Then, why were you pointing at the car earlier?"
"You're just asking which car is mine, right? We're not asking which car we're taking." Jared replied casually.
Caroline could only hiss softly with a shake of her head. She quickly got in before Jared gave the order for the second time.
Just as Jared got in and was about to sit down, Thalius hit the gas at high speed. It made Jared unable to balance his body, and he fell on Caroline's body.
The car stopped suddenly. Thalius looked scared that Jared would be angry. He looked back to see what his boss's face looked like.
However, the sight in front of his eyes made Thalius silent. Jared was enjoying the situation. He lay on Caroline's body for a long time. Their faces were so close, almost pressed together. Jared felt as if his heart had stopped beating. His face was hot and flushed. His breathing sounded so rushed. His body trembled as if there were an electric shock. He was petrified, frozen in place.
"Sir, you're heavy!" Caroline pushed Jared's body hard.
"So-sorry." Jared said nervously. He looked up, sitting down with mixed feelings. He was absolutely agonizing to be in this situation. Caroline was really making his heart work harder than usual.
