"Honey, can you go to the hospital now?" Bonnie asked with a sob over the phone.

"I'm at work, Mom. What happened? Is Papa awake?" Caroline asked happily. Because, after being in a coma for three days, there was finally some progress.

Bonnie gave no answer. Her sobs broke out even more.

"Mommy?" Caroline began to panic. She started thinking all sorts of things after hearing her mother's sobs. All the bad possibilities started to run through her head. If everything was fine, her mother wouldn't be calling her with such sobs, especially during working hours.

"What's going on?" Caroline raised the source of the voice.

Lenzy, who was not far from her, stared sarcastically, looking annoyed at Caroline, who received a phone call during working hours. Everyone knew there should be no personal calls while at work. Caroline had completely broken that rule.

"Papa passed away." The sentence was uttered by Lenzy in a hoarse and trembling voice. It was the most painful sentence she had ever said to Caroline.

Caroline fell silent at that sentence. She tried to digest what had happened. How could she be faced with so many problems? Her heart seemed to stop beating after she heard that sentence. She paled. The news she heard really made her whole body melt. Her legs trembled to support her weight. She wanted to cry and scream, but her tears seemed to have run out. She couldn't even cry anymore.

She don't know what sin Caroline committed when she was hit by successive calamities. Her family went bankrupt not long ago. She was dumped by her fiancé. Now she was left for dead by her father. Not to mention, she had no news of Aalya after her sister's attack. She would not be able to face this alone.

"Carol, if you don't want to work, you can quit!" Lenzy said it harshly.

Caroline gasped at that sentence. She had to go to the hospital now! She quickly grabbed her bag and ran down the corridor. Lenzy didn't let that happen. She chased after her, held Caroline back, and tried to stop her from leaving.

"I don't know what you've done to make Mr. Madison so nice to you. However, you can't act like that. I'll let Mr. Madison know if you want to skip work. He should know what your real attitude is like. You don't really have any ambition to work." Lenzy took advantage of the opportunity, trying to make faces in front of her boss. She pulled Caroline roughly.

Caroline didn't say a word. She rebelled so hard that Lenzy's hold was released. She ran faster, hoping to reach the hospital and meet her father soon. Lenzy continued to chase while shouting, making them the center of attention in the office.

Thalius quickly told Jared what was happening. The well-built man quickly left his office. He strode bravely down the hall and found Lenzy arguing with Caroline.

"Stop bothering me!" Caroline looked so frustrated as Lenzy kept trying to intervene.

"I'm not bothering you; I just want to prevent you from leaving! You can't leave without Mr. Madison's permission!" Lenzy tried to explain.

Jared came closer. His gaze seemed so focused on Caroline.

"What's going on? Don't you realize you're making a scene here and getting in the way of work?" Jared interrogated.

"Sir, she intended to run away. I was just trying to restrain her as her friend." Lenzy made a face at Jared.

Caroline made no defense at all. She just stayed silent with a look in her eyes that explained all her feelings. There was panic, worry, anxiety, anger, and also a deep sadness there. Jared could see it in Caroline's eyes. He didn't know what was going on, but he knew that something very serious had happened to make Caroline act like that.

"You can go." Jared said softly.

"But, Mr." Lenzy seemed to object.

"Are you or am I the boss here?" Jared gave Lenzy a sharp look.

Lenzy fell silent. She hadn't expected Jared to side with Caroline. While she had done what she thought was right, Why was Caroline always defended since the first day she worked there? Lenzy was still wondering. What was so special about Caroline? Caroline is pretty, but she is also beautiful. Caroline has a good body; she has that too. Even her appearance was more attractive and luxurious than the clothes Caroline was wearing.

"Thank you." Caroline said it in a hoarse and trembling voice. She quickly left after getting permission from Jared.

Lenzy looked both annoyed and confused. She wanted to protest, but she didn't want to appear annoying in front of Jared, so this time again she could only give in.

Jared looked at Thalius seriously, as if he were giving him a code to follow Caroline and tell him what had happened. Thalius understood the code he received, and he quickly rushed to follow Caroline to the hospital.

"Mama!" Caroline immediately hugged her mother when she got there. They cried together, then rushed to the room where Anthony's body was.

Caroline felt like half of her life had died when she saw her father lying on the hospital bed with his eyes closed. How could she lose her father because of her sister? Can it be said that her sister killed her father?

Caroline's tears broke even more when she hugged the body. She had not given enough attention and affection to her father lately. Especially when she was dumped by Jake, she locked herself in her room more than spent time talk with her parents. Now she regrets not being able to spend quality time with Anthony in his last days.

"Papa, you can't die this quickly. You haven't even seen me in a wedding dress. You said you wanted to hold grandchildren. Why are you breaking your promise? I'm not married, so you can't die. Let's get up!" Caroline shook her father's body with increasingly violent sobs.

Bonnie could do nothing but cry as her daughter wept for her husband. She also felt very lost over Anthony's death, especially since the cause of death was her own daughter.

"Aalya must pay for this! I'll make her pay. It's better she never comes back if her return leaves Papa dead!" Caroline said it with vengeance.

There was no longing left in her heart. She considered her sister dead. For her now, Aalya was just a murderer of her father. She would take revenge for that.
