Ch. 6Hans' Suspicions

Claire threw her body onto the bed after putting down a paper bag containing an evening gown.

Regina's gift.

Claire had previously tried to refuse it, but Regina kept insisting. What could it be? She didn't feel good if she continued to refuse, while Regina continued to insist.

Claire rolled herself to the edge of the bed. She slightly stretched her body, which felt very sore. Even though her work today at the office was not too much, Besides, at the boutique, she also only tried on a few pieces of wedding dresses.

A long dress that was quite troublesome. It was true that it was only a few pieces, but wearing just one piece took more than ten minutes because of how complicated the dress was. Claire even massaged her head several times, which made her feel dizzy when looking at those long dresses with layers of fabric.

She actually preferred a simple dress, but Regina's taste was much different from hers.
The middle-aged woman wanted a luxurious and glamorous gown. The Mahendra family's daughter-in-law should not look ordinary. That's what she said.

What could be done? Claire could only obey. After all, she only had to accept it.

If she married Hans later, She will choose a wedding dress that is comfortable for her. It wasn't as troublesome as before.

Speaking of Hans, Claire almost forgot about him. Ever since she was at the boutique, her cell phone didn't stop vibrating with a call from Hans. Not wanting to make a mistake, especially since Regina was there, she deliberately left it on.

She quickly reached into her bag and grabbed her cell phone. Her eyes widened at the screen full of notifications. Fifty missed calls and twenty messages.

Oh my!

Hans must be worried right now.
He hurriedly pressed the call button again. Sure enough, within the first ring, Hans answered immediately. He must be waiting to hear from her.

"Are you okay?"

That was the first sentence Hans uttered as soon as the call was connected. See how this man is so worried about her without knowing that the woman he loves is with another man?

"I'm fine, Hans."

Claire could hear her lover's sigh of relief.

"I thought something happened to you. I looked for you at the office, but you weren't there. What happened? Why did Mr. Jonas pull you out by force earlier?" Hans began to ask with curiosity, saying that he had been holding back all day.

Claire bit her lip, not knowing what to say. She stupidly forgot to prepare an excuse for Hans. As a result, she remained silent for quite a while until Hans' voice came back. "Claire, are you still there?"

"Huh? I'm here, Hans," Claire replied stammeringly. Her tongue seemed to refuse to move. Lying to Hans was not easy. She really didn't have the heart.

"Did something happen?" Hans asked again. Claire could hear the man's worried tone.

"No, it didn't. You take it easy. I'm fine. Just then," Claire paused to catch her breath, "Mr. Jonas needed an administrative report that I forgot to give him. That's why he pulled me out by force."

Just as she had predicted, she had to start making friends with lies. Even though she had to do it, Claire still had to do it.

"Really? Does it have to be like that? I don't usually see Mr. Jonas acting like that with his employees."

Claire realized that her earlier excuse was indeed unconvincing. However, she had no other answer. The more excuses she gave, the bigger the lie.

"I don't know. After all, we're just lowly employees who inevitably have to obey our superiors' orders, right?"

"You're right." Hans was silent for a moment before continuing. "Are you sure that's all?"

Claire was stunned. Hans didn't believe her. "You don't believe me?" Claire retorted in a tone that pretended to be offended.

"It's not that. I'm just afraid that something happened to you, and you're hiding it from me."

"Hans, you know I never lie, right?" And this time, he lied.

Hans sighed again. "Yes, I know. I love you, darling. I don't want anything to happen to you," Hans said earnestly.

Claire held her breath. Normally, she would smile happily at Hans' words of love, but today was different. There was pain slowly eating away at her heart from deceiving Hans.

"I love you too, Hans." Claire could feel Hans' smile there. She could not even imagine it.

"Yes, already. Get some rest. I'll pick you up tomorrow."

"No need. Let's meet at the office," Claire interrupted quickly.

Hans was silent for a moment. Claire waited anxiously.

"Claire, I feel like you've been a little distant from me lately." Hans again expressed his feelings, which felt strange with the recent changes in his girlfriend's attitude.

"Me? Ah, no. Maybe it's just your feelings. I'm still near you, Hans. I still belong to you and love you," she said, trying to reassure Hans' doubting heart.

I don't know if it was Hans' strong intuition or something else, but it was clear that Hans' suspicion made Claire have to be even more vigilant. She didn't want Hans to know everything. She was not ready to lose him.

After a while, Hans didn't make a sound again. Ara was getting worried, so she tried calling him again. "Hans?"

"Yes, it's possible." The man finally spoke in a weak tone. Hans could be heard taking a deep breath. Claire grimaced inwardly. "Alright, dear. Sleep well. I'll see you tomorrow," Hans continued. In his voice, the man sounded like he was trying to be cheerful again.

Maybe Hans was anxious or worried, or maybe the doubt was really coming out of him.

"Okay, good night."

"Good night, dear."

Claire disconnected the call languidly. Being in a situation like this was something she had never even imagined in her life.

She had to be faced with the choice between love and her family. It was a very difficult choice for her.

She had just admitted her feelings of love for Hans. God has another will. God gave Claire an unusual destiny.

Perhaps the sincerity of love possessed by Hans made the man more sensitive to what was happening. Hans began to realize something was wrong, or maybe it was Claire's own movements that made him realize it?

I don't know. What is certain is that Claire must find a way for Hans to never find out about her affair with Jonas. She didn't want to lose him. Claire loved him. That's for sure.

Then, how could she do it?

The woman with long, curly hair flopped back down on the bed. Her eyes looked straight up at the ceiling of her room. She was forcing her head to work at the moment to find a way out.

Claire was getting dizzy thinking about everything. Next month. The wedding will be held next month. Plus, Hans was getting suspicious.

What should she do?

While she was still in confusion, suddenly an idea popped into her head.

Prenuptial Agreement.
