Ch. 21Problem Solving

Thud!

Chrystal struck Seno with such force that he stumbled backward, crashing into a simple shoe cabinet near the door.

The sharp corner of the cabinet gouged his hand, leaving a bloody mark as it was caught between the cabinet and the floor. The sharp pain stabbed through him, igniting the rage that had been simmering within him.

"Damn it! Are you looking to get yourself killed?" Seno barked, pain seeping into his voice as he struggled to his feet, his eyes locking onto Chrystal’s with a sudden jolt of shock.

Her eyes, usually calm, now blazed with a cold, unyielding fury that he hadn’t expected. It wasn’t the dull, blunt anger of someone unaccustomed to violence; it was the sharp, deadly gaze of someone who knew exactly what they were doing—a look he had only seen in the eyes of hardened criminals. It made him swallow hard, uncertainty creeping into his mind.

Uncle Kai, standing just behind Chrystal, sensed the danger in the air. With a subtle gesture, he signaled to the two bodyguards accompanying them. They moved swiftly, flanking Seno on either side, grabbing his arms before he could react.

Seno struggled, his pride wounded as he shouted, "Who the hell are you? Why are you holding me down? Can’t you see this woman and her brat are squatting in my house? She just hit me! I’m calling the cops! I’ll make sure you all pay for this!"

His voice grew louder, drawing the attention of the neighbors. Some whispered among themselves, trying to piece together what was happening, while others opened their windows to get a closer look.

Chrystal ignored the throbbing pain in her knuckles, her eyes never leaving Seno’s face. Part of her wanted to punch him again, to wipe that smug, arrogant expression off his face for good. But she knew better. This was the capital, and Seno was, after all, the rightful landlord. No matter how wrong he was in raising the rent and bullying her mother and sister, attacking him outright could only complicate things further.

Besides, her body was still weak, and the pain in her hand reminded her that she couldn’t afford to act recklessly. If Samudra found out, she could only imagine how he might react to her impulsive behavior.

With this in mind, Chrystal quickly shifted her approach. Facing Seno directly might not be the smartest move in this situation.

If she couldn’t handle it alone, she would use someone else to do it. She turned to Uncle Kai, her eyes softening, and her voice trembled as she spoke, "Uncle Kai…"

The thin layer of anger that had been on her face dissolved into an expression of helplessness, her voice wavering as if on the verge of tears.

Uncle Kai had already taken a disliking to Seno the moment he saw him. There was no need for Chrystal to ask so gently; he had been planning to step in from the start.

"Don’t worry, little miss," Uncle Kai reassured her, stepping forward. "I’ll take care of this."

"Take care of it? You old bastard!" Seno spat, his face twisted with anger as he continued to struggle. The iron grip of the bodyguards made his pain worse, and the tension in the air escalated.

Uncle Kai, recognizing that the situation was spiraling, attempted to de-escalate things. "Mr. Seno, let’s find a fair solution for everyone. Why don’t we sit down and discuss this calmly? I’m sure we can resolve this matter without further conflict."

Seno was still furious, but at least he stopped yelling. He glared at Chrystal, Uncle Kai, and the bodyguards who had turned this simple eviction into a far more complicated affair.

In the midst of the growing crowd of neighbors, the situation grew tenser, with all eyes on Chrystal, her mother Safira, her sister Ruby, and Uncle Kai, waiting to see how things would unfold.

"You old fool, you should be dead by now. You can’t fix anything!" Seno sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.

Despite being a respected household manager, Uncle Kai had served the Leon family’s head, Mr. Renald Leon, since his youth, and now he felt a bit embarrassed in front of everyone. Being insulted like this, called "an old fool who should be dead," froze the smile on his face.

Uncle Kai’s smile turned icy. "Very well, as Mr. Seno suggests, we’ll call the police."

Seno was momentarily stunned, and the neighbors following the drama were equally taken aback.

In most cases, small disputes could be resolved without involving the authorities. Why bring the police into this?

Uncle Kai signaled the driver and the bodyguards to release Seno, then turned to Chrystal. "Our family, Miss Chrystal, suffers from mental and cognitive limitations. The punch she threw was an act of self-defense."

"If Mr. Seno wishes to pursue this further, I’m afraid he’ll have to deal with Miss Chrystal’s legal guardian. Just so you know, Mrs. Safira Floryn is her biological mother and is recognized as her guardian."

Uncle Kai’s actions had shifted the dynamic, emphasizing that Chrystal’s punch was a defensive response to Seno’s initial aggression.

Seno fell silent, unsure how to respond.

Chrystal quickly grasped Uncle Kai’s plan, hiding a smirk.

Uncle Kai’s maneuver not only diffused the immediate tension but also leveraged the fact that the hallway was under surveillance, and Safira had been injured. Everything was documented clearly.

If this were taken to the police, it would likely be seen as a minor incident, easily resolved with a modest settlement.

But Chrystal knew that these two issues should not be conflated.

After dealing with the minor altercation, it was time to address the bigger issue—Seno’s breach of contract and the unlawful rent hikes.

Uncle Kai continued to play the role of mediator with the poise of someone experienced in handling legal matters. "Mr. Seno, as the landlord, you have violated the contract twice and raised the rent three times during the lease term. Everyone here knows who is in the right and who is in the wrong."

"Therefore, I won’t take up any more of your time. Since Miss Ruby has already mentioned that all the lease contracts and payment records are on hand, we will let our exclusive legal team handle any remaining issues."

Seno’s face, still stinging from Chrystal’s punch, felt hot and painful, with blood trickling from his mouth. This pain made him question Chrystal’s support.

"Who exactly is this old man?" he thought. "What’s his connection to this family?"

And as for the special legal team Uncle Kai mentioned, Seno dismissed it as an empty threat. He didn’t believe there was any reason to be afraid.

With a sneer, he replied, "A legal team? Ha! Don’t pretend. You’re just trying to intimidate me!"
