Ch. 5Chapter 5

At Simon's house, he was already in his pajamas, his eyes still not closed, staring at the ceiling of his room, feeling restless. The young man was deep in thought, as the next day he would start working and leave his younger sibling and mother temporarily...

On Simon's first day of work, Sandra picked him up, noticing Simon's slightly furrowed brow, she was thinking of doing something about it. "Today you drive, come on in." Sandra left the keys before she entered the car.

Simon was momentarily stunned, but he started working and couldn't disobey his boss's orders. Although trembling, he steadied his steps towards the car, then sat in the driver's seat.

Hesitantly, he started the car engine and slowly moved forward like a snail. Sandra began to feel anxious until she looked down, wiping her face a few times. If Simon couldn't handle this, how would he manage the next tasks?

On the other hand, Sandra began to worry about Simon's performance, but not even three minutes later, Simon finally drove the car steadily. Sandra breathed a sigh of relief with a smile. "Great! Follow the route, and stop at the intersection after the traffic light."

Simon understood the instruction while paying attention to the road, searching for the traffic light corner. Shortly after, Simon spoke, "Is it there?"

Sandra nodded, then spoke again. "Find a parking spot, today we'll make a stop there first, previously I managed that store for a while. I have to oversee their performance there."

"Okay."

Simon parked the car in front of the store and looked at the bustling place with visitors, perhaps because of its strategic location, plus there was also a mini cafe next to it. Sandra purposely set it up so that customers had a place to stop by.

"Do you know, this store was built based on my interest in fashion, if I told you I've been running this store since high school, would you believe it?" Suddenly, Sandra asked as they got out of the car.

Simon, who had just closed his door, turned instantly. "Seriously? Um... you mean you started this business back then?"

Sandra nodded, then walked slowly while looking at the store. "But what I regret is that back then I didn't manage it seriously, if I did, the store would surely be bigger than it is now."

"But isn't it already developed like this now?" Simon commented.

"Yes, that's because this past year I've invested a lot in my business to enhance it, well at least it will be an investment for the future. I even did surveys in every office and researched all types of clothing materials with the best quality, until I finally did it, even though the progress was a bit slow..."

"This is already better, right?" Simon raised his eyebrows.

"Enough, you must go inside and change your style a bit." Sandra pushed Simon inside forcefully, although he wanted to refuse but he found himself already inside.

"Prepare the best suit for my assistant, and revamp his appearance as best as possible!" Hearing her command, everyone quickly moved to take Simon to the fitting room.

While Sandra awaited, communicating with her other employees, her cold gaze swept across the room.

Under her leadership, the exclusive fashion store and elegant clothing dedicated to creating the highest-quality garments in the world, even awarded 'Endless World Associate,' combined with her immeasurable influence, surely the prices reached hundreds and even thousands of dollars per piece, it was truly astonishing!

Half an hour later...

Simon appeared at the door, causing Sandra to startle and momentarily pause her conversation with the employees. The young man looked fresher than before, his newly trimmed and neatly combed hair, and even his office suit was stylish.

Simon, now appearing energetic, was a dedicated employee with high spirits. Sandra approached him, applauding in admiration. "Amazing, you look even more handsome in that suit, let's head out now."

During the journey, Sandra couldn't stop smiling, glancing at Simon driving several times. Although he was just her assistant, Sandra didn't care. She judged Simon to have a friendly and humble nature. However, she couldn't understand if this was merely her admiration, or if she genuinely liked Simon.

Gerald stared out the window, gazing at the neatly arranged buildings in the city. His mind was recalling two years ago when he proposed to Sandra, but their relationship had to end instantly due to his dark affair with Shania, driven solely by his twisted desires and lust.

"Gerald, are you really going to chase after Sandra's love again?" his good friend Bobi, the street racer enthusiast, asked.

The man forced himself to nod. "Regardless of how, Sandra must return to me." His fist clenched with determination.

"But Ger, are you sure you can earn back her trust? I still have a acquaintance who might interest you because of her beauty..."

"I'm not interested, you better keep it for yourself."

Laughter filled the air, Bobi couldn't contain it. "Seriously, Ger? Have you truly repented?"

Gerald made a face, then grinned as if he had something planned. "We'll see how I handle this situation..."

As his phone rang, Gerald was about to sit down but stood up suddenly, then grimaced upon seeing the caller's name. "Surely Sandra informed her parents about this, my history is finished!"

Gerald ignored the call and activated silent mode. Even though he was also wealthy, no one knew that Sandra's family was the one constantly directing money to his ATM.

This secret was unknown to anyone, Gerald thought if Mrs. Leslie decided to cut ties with their family, then Gerald's parents would once again go bankrupt. "I have to visit Mrs. Leslie!"

Bobi was astonished by his friend's reaction.

Gerald dashed to his car in a flash, then he drove at high speed without caring what would happen later. He was only afraid of losing money, regardless of the risks he would face later...

On the way, his phone vibrated, Gerald received another call from the same number, his eyes blinked hesitantly before answering the call. "I still need their money..." Gerald had no other choice, he took a deep breath before sliding the green button. "Yes, Ma'am." His car slowed down, Gerald was visibly disheartened.

As he entered the area of Sandra's family residence, Gerald accidentally crossed paths with a group of strangers who were just leaving the grand house.

"Gerald?"

"That's right."

"Isn't that the car..." The person squinted their eyes.

Gerald glanced at the car's side mirror.
"Why have you come? Hasn't Mrs. Leslie already informed you of something?"

Gerald nodded. "However, there's something important that I need to tell her, may I come in?"

Although they tried to stop him, Gerald insisted on entering the largest and most luxurious house in the area.

The sound of the door opening revealed a middle-aged woman. "Mrs. Leslie..." everyone bowed and stepped aside around her.

"We've said what you told us before, but..." Mrs. Leslie raised her hand, "It's okay, please make us some drinks."

"Very well, Madam." Her gaze shifted to Gerald who was still there.

"Have a seat, what do you want to say. I'll give you three minutes!" Mrs. Leslie turned over the classic hourglass decoration on her terrace table.

"It's about the contract..."

"The contract has terminated early," Leslie looked at him coldly, then turned around, took out a document that seemed deliberately prepared, and handed the brown folder to Gerald. "From now on, you don't need to come here anymore."

Gerald was stunned, unsure of what to say. Did this mean he had truly lost everything?

Their business contract, no longer a secret, Gerald tried to understand that Sandra's family truly wanted to end the relationship, they had been together for two years, and he knew a day like this would come. However, Gerald himself didn't want it to end like this.

Gerald slowly straightened up, looking at the figure of the woman who was almost his future mother-in-law, Mrs. Leslie, exuding elegance. She spoke again, "Why? Do you still have something to say? I won't listen to anything more and never meet Sandra anywhere, including at her workplace!”
