Ch. 21sacrifice

Victor and his team arrived at the house, their cars were loaded with ammunition and weapons. The three vehicles pulled up behind quietly, trying not to draw attention to themselves. It was midnight, but the house was still lit up, music and laughter spilling out into the night air.

Victor got out of the car, his gun at the ready. He surveyed the house from a distance, his eyes scanning the windows and doors. He signaled to the others, and they emerged from the cars, their own guns drawn.

As they prepared to move forward, Josh called out from behind. "Victor, wait! Remember, we need the cursed wolf alive."

Victor hesitated, his grip on his gun tightening. He had almost forgotten about that. Their mission was to capture Aria, the half-breed with the cursed wolf's blood, not to kill her.

He turned to the others. "Let's move in quietly. We need to take them by surprise. Josh, you're with me. We'll take the front door. Mike, you're with Sarah. You take the back door. And Alex, you're our sniper. Keep watch from here."

As they approached the main gate of the house, Victor signaled for the team to fan out, covering each other's backs. They moved stealthily, their eyes scanning the ground for any signs of traps.

But in the darkness, Mike failed to see the thin wire strung across the path. He took a step forward, and suddenly, the ground gave way beneath him. A loud explosion ripped through the night air as Mike's foot triggered the landmine.

The blast sent Mike flying, his body torn apart by the force of the explosion. Victor and the others were knocked off their feet, their ears ringing from the deafening sound.

Lyrien rushed to the window, his heart racing, as the sound of the explosion echoed through the night air. He pulled back the curtain, and his eyes scanned the darkness outside.

Eluned and Arachne appeared beside him, their faces tense with concern. "What was that?" Eluned asked, her voice low and urgent.

Eluned's eyes narrowed. "It sounds like our protective mine was triggered. We have intruders."

Aria, Erith, and the others gathered around, their faces filled with worry. "What do we do?" Aria asked, her voice trembling.

Eluned took charge. "Lyrien, Aria, Erith, and Arachne, you four need to leave now. Take the back route, it's safer."

Aria hesitated. "But what about the others in the house?"

Eluned's expression was firm. "You need to worry about your own safety first. We can't risk losing you. The others will be fine, they can take care of themselves."

Lyrien nodded, his mind racing. "Let's go, we need to move fast."

Arachne led the way, her knowledge of the house's secret passages guiding them through the darkness. They moved swiftly, their hearts pounding, as they made their way to the back of the house, they were scared and desperate to escape the danger that lurked outside the house.

Victor signaled for the team to proceed with caution, his voice low and urgent. "Remember, there might be other mines around. Stay alert."

The team nodded, their eyes scanning the ground as they moved forward. They reached the house, but to their surprise, there was no one in sight. The people they had seen earlier had vanished into thin air.

"What the...?" Josh trailed off, his confusion evident.

Victor's expression was grim. "The mines earlier... they must have triggered a warning system. That's why the people we saw vanished. They knew we were coming."

Josh nodded, understanding. "So, they had a heads up. That's why they're not here now."

He nodded to the first team, who approached the main door. "You're first. Go!"

The team leader, Alex, pushed open the door, but before he could take a step inside, a bullet fired from within, striking him with deadly precision. The door burst open, then slammed shut again, leaving Alex's lifeless body on the porch.

The team was stunned, their eyes fixed on Alex's body in horror. Victor's face twisted in anger. "We've been set up. They're waiting for us. Let's regroup and come up with a new plan."

Eluned stood behind the door, her eyes fixed on the half-breeders gathered around her. "We need to protect the Moonswhisper and Shadowbringer at all costs," she whispered urgently. "They are the most precious beings in the universe, and we cannot let them fall into the wrong hands."

Just then, a voice crackled through the comms device on Eluned's wrist. "Eluned, this is Raven. Victor and his team are making a move again. They're heading for the door."

Eluned's eyes snapped to the door, her grip on her firearm tightening. "Get ready," she whispered to the half-breeders. "They're not going to take us down without a fight."

The door creaked open, and for a moment, there was silence. But then, Victor and his team emerged from the side door, their guns blazing. The half-breeders were caught off guard, and chaos erupted as a fierce gun battle ensued.

The half-breeders, caught off guard, were quickly overwhelmed. They tried to return fire, but Victor's team was too strong.

Eluned, trying to escape, was hit by a stray bullet. She fell to the ground, wincing in pain. The half-breeders around her were either dead or dying.

Victor's team moved swiftly, taking out the remaining half-breeders. Eluned, helpless on the ground, could only watch as her comrades fell.

Just as Victor approached her, Eluned lay on the ground, her vision fading, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that she had done everything she could to protect Aria and the others.

With a faint smile, she thought to herself, "They're safe... they escaped... my sacrifice wasn't in vain."

Victor's gun pressed against Eluned's forehead, his eyes blazing with anger. "Tell me where the girl is," he snarled. "Where is Aria?"

Eluned's smile never wavered. "You'll never harm them," she whispered, her voice weak but defiant.

Victor's face twisted in rage. "You're willing to die for her?" he spat.

Eluned's eyes locked onto Victor's, her gaze unwavering. "I'm willing to die for what's right," she replied, her voice firm.

Victor's finger tightened on the trigger. "You're a fool," he sneered.

The gun fired, and Eluned's body jerked once before going still. Victor stood up, his chest heaving with anger, as he gazed down at Eluned's lifeless body.

As her eyes closed, Eluned felt a sense of pride and fulfillment. She had given her life to protect her friends, and she knew that they would make it count.

In her final moment, Eluned felt a sense of joy, knowing that her sacrifice would not be forgotten, and that Aria and the others would carry on her legacy.
