Ch. 17Half breeders

As soon as Arachne saw the woman, she rushed to embrace her. "Eluned!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with warmth.

The two women hugged each other so tightly, like an old friends which just reunited after a very long time apart. Aria's curiosity was suddenly piqued as she couldn't take it in, she asked Arachne, "Is she the witch who will save Lyrien?"

Arachne smiled and shook her head. "No, Aria. Eluned is not a witch or a wolf. She's a human, a skilled healer who will take care of Lyrien."

Aria's eyes were welled up with tears as she knelt before Eluned, begging, "Please, you have to help me save Lyrien. I'll do anything, just please save him."

Eluned's face was filled with compassion as she stroked Aria's hair. "Don't worry, child. I'll do everything in my power to save Lyrien. I promise."

Aria's sobs became subsided, it was replaced by a glimmer of hope. She looked up at Eluned, with her eyes which was shining with tears. "Thank you...thank you so much."

Eluned smiled and helped Aria up to her feet. "Let's get Lyrien settled in, and then we'll start his treatment. I'll need to examine him and see what we're dealing with."

As Eluned led them to a cozy room, Erith watched the situation,he was fascinated by the warm exchange between Arachne and Eluned.

As Eluned tended to Lyrien's wounds, Aria was asked to stay inside other room, as she might be so tired from the journey, though she insisted on staying with Lyrien but she was asked to wait in other room, staying there her eyes gazed out the window of the house, her eyes were seeking out the men she had seen earlier. They were gathered in the courtyard, with their movements fluid as they went about their tasks. She watched, fascinated, as they worked together, their interactions seamless.

Arachne entered the room, her presence quiet, but Aria sensed her. She followed Aria's gaze to the window, her eyes narrowing slightly as she saw where Aria's attention was focused.

"They are breeders," Arachne said, her voice low and matter-of-fact, as if she knew Aria's unspoken question.
Arachne's gaze followed Aria's nod towards the window. "They are half-breeds," she said, her voice low and mysterious. "Children of humans and wolves, born with the strengths of both worlds."

"They don't belong to either world, human or wolf," Arachne said, her voice was seem to laced with a hint of sadness. "People call them monsters, abominations. They're shunned, feared, and hated."

Aria's eyes widened in horror. "What happens to them?"

Arachne's expression sudden turned grim. "The men are often taken as servants or killed. And the women...they're subjected to unspeakable cruelty. Raped, abused, and used by male wolves who see them as nothing more than objects."

Aria felt a wave of revulsion wash over her. "That's disgusting," she spat. "How can anyone do that to another living being?"

Arachne's eyes flashed and was filled with anger. "Because they're seen as less than, as not worthy of respect or compassion. But they're not monsters, Aria. They're just...different."

Aria's gaze returned back to the window, her eyes seeking out the men in the courtyard. She saw them in a new light now, she saw them as a victims of a cruel and unforgiving world.

"How many are there?" she asked, her voice was barely above a whisper as she asked.

Arachne's expression then turned somber. "Many. they are too many. They're scattered in the world, hiding in the shadows, afraid to be discovered. But we're trying to help them, to protect them from those who would harm them."
Arachne's expression turned grim. "The Beacon wolves are cruel and ruthless," she said. "They see any creature that's not like them as a threat, something to be eliminated."

Aria's eyes widened in horror. "What do you mean?"

Arachne's voice was laced with disgust. "They've taken over the city, turned it into a place where only humans and wolves are allowed. Any other creature that enters is either chased out or killed."

Aria felt responsible as she knew her father lord Edgard was tasked with killing the witches in the city. "That's monstrous," she spat. "How can they do that?"

Arachne's gaze suddenly become somber. "They're afraid of what they don't understand. They see the other creatures as inferior, as abominations. And they'll stop at nothing to keep their precious city pure."

Aria's mind reeled as she thought of the implications. "So, the city is... segregated?"

Arachne nodded. "Yes. The Beacon wolves have divided the city into sections, each one strictly controlled. Humans and wolves live together, but any other creature is forced to live on the outskirts, in poverty and fear."

There gazed were focuse back on the people outside the window.
"Be careful around them, Aria," Arachne said, her voice low and cautionary. "They may look strong, but they're fragile in their own way. Years of mistreatment and abuse have left scars on them, which was both physical and emotional."

Aria nodded, her heart was going out to these mysterious beings. "I will," she promised. "I won't hurt them."

Arachne's gaze searched hers, as if looking for any sign of deceit. "See that you don't," she said finally. "They're under our protection now, and we won't let anyone harm them again."

Aria felt a huge respect towards Arachne, for her strength and compassion. "You're a true leader," she said, her voice was filled with sincerity.

Arachne's expression softened, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "I just do what needs to be done," she said. "But I'm glad you're here, Aria. We need people like you, who can see beyond the surface."

As they spoke, the door opened and Eluned entered, a look of concern etched on her face. "Arachne, I need to speak with you," she said, her voice low and urgent.

Arachne nodded, her expression turning serious. "What is it, Eluned?"

Eluned hesitated, her eyes darting to Aria before returning to Arachne. "It's Lyrien," she said finally. "His.......
