Ch. 13Fevered flight

The darkness suddenly closed in around Lyrien again, it was ike a suffocating shroud. He stumbled as his world spinning out of control. When his vision became cleared, he found himself in a twisted and nightmarish realm. The air were reeked of decay and death. there was a twisted, ancient trees which loomed above, with their branches like a skeletal fingers wreaching for the sky.

Suddenly, an old woman emerged from the shadows, her gnarled stick thumping against the ground. Lyrien tried to speak but couldn't, as his voice was caught in his throat. The woman's eyes glowed with an otherworldly light as she turned to face him.

"Witch!" Lyrien spat, his heart was racing.

He unsheathed his claws suddenly, ready to defend himself. But the old woman merely laughed, her voice was like a rusty gate. "The Moonwhisper," she croaked, her eyes were glinting with malevolence.

Lyrien called out the name the woman called him "Moonwhisper."
'' Who are you and why did you refer me as that?'' He demanded to know who she was, and the woman cackled, saying, "I am your creator."

Lyrien's eyes narrowed at her. "You mean the Moon Goddess," he growled.

The woman's smile twisted horribly. "No. I am not like that cruel one. I am a Witch of Darkness, i was the one who played a subtle role in the Moon Goddess's grand design. But I have my own agenda."

Lyrien's ears folded back in suspicion. "What do you mean?"

The woman's eyes gleamed again with a malevolence. "The Moon Goddess had plans for you, Lyrien. Plans to use you to calm the realm when everything is at peak of destruction. But I interfered, played a little game with fate. And now, your mission has changed."

Lyrien's heart sank. "What do you mean?"

The woman's smile grew wider. "You will suffer the most deadly fate, Lyrien. And I will be the one to bring it about. I will attack the Moon Goddess's work, make the witches powerful, and bring end to the werewolves tyrant against the witches. You wolves will be the ones to bring down the world."

As she finished speaking, her smile grew even more horrible, which were sending shivers down to Lyrien's spine.

Lyrien's eyes suddenly snapped open, he found himself on a hospital bed, his body was wracked with pain. Aria was beside him,she was fast asleep. Lyrien tried his best to sit up, but he felt a searing pain shot through his wound, making him growl in pain.

Aria woke suddenly after hearing the sudden groan of Lyrien, her eyes wide and filled with concerns. "Lyrien, oh my god, you're awake!" She tried to hold him up, but Lyrien pushed her away, still growling in pain.

"Why...why am I still in pain?" he snarled, his eyes were scanning the hospital room.

Aria's face was pale. "Your wound should be healing by now. What happened to your wolf?"

Lyrien shook his head, still trying to clear the fog. "I don't know...I don't remember."

Just then, the driver burst into the room. "We need to leave, now! Alpha Erin has placed a heavy bounty on your heads."

Aria's eyes widened in fear. "What?"

The driver glanced out the window, his face grim. "It's dark outside. Erin has made it public, and everyone is going crazy. We need to get out of here, before we're caught."

the man leaned in, with his voice sound urgent. "I know your brother, Lyrien. He'll never let you live if he catches up to us. We need to leave, now."

With swift efficiency, the man began to removing the drips and wires from Lyrien's body, despite his pained protests. Aria rushed to Lyrien's side, he helped him sit up and swing his legs over the side of the bed.

"Come on, Lyrien, we have to go," she urged, her eyes were scanning the room for any signs of danger.

The man tossed a set of clothes at Lyrien though still covered in blood. "Put these on, quickly."

Lyrien winced as he checked on the cloth '' I think i'm better off this cloth'' he was complaining about the blood on the cloth. Aria supported him, ass she helped him stand, the man led them out of the room.

They moved swiftly through the hospital corridors, they were avoiding all the detection by mere seconds. The man seemed to know the layout of the building intimately, he was dodging security guards and cameras with ease.

Finally, they burst through the emergency exit, gasping in the cool night air. their sleek black car was waiting for them, the engine was purring, and the man ushered them inside.

As the man sped away from the hospital, Lyrien's body began to be burning with fever, his wound were throbbing in agony. Aria's eyes darted between Lyrien and the man, confusion etched on her face.

"His fever is burning up!" she exclaimed, her voice was laced with worry. "And his wound isn't healing. What's going on?"

Lyrien's eyes suddenly fluttered closed, his mind was foggy with pain. He felt like his body was on fire, his skin scorched and blistered.

The man's gaze flicked to the rearview mirror, his expression grim. "We need to get him to a safe place, fast."

He floored it as he add to the speed, the car surging forward as they devoured the miles. Lyrien's head lolled back, his body was wracked with shivers.

As they approached the bus stop ahead, Aria's eyes was widened in alarm. "Soldiers! They're checking everyone at the bus stops!"

The man's jaw clenched, his eyes scanning the road ahead. "Hold on, this might get bumpy."

He swerved onto a side street, narrowly avoiding a checkpoint. Lyrien's body jerked with the sudden movement, his pain spiking.

Aria's hands fluttered over Lyrien's face, her touch cool and soothing. "We have to get him help, now. He can't take much more of this."

The man's eyes locked onto the road ahead, his face was set in determination. "I know a place. We'll be safe there."

But as they sped through the deserted streets, Lyrien's fever raged on, his body screaming in agony. And the soldiers were closing in, their net tightening around them...
