Ch. 3Meet Gabriel

Auntie Ranti's two children had repeatedly invited their mother to live with their children outside the city, but Auntie Ranti did not want to just leave the house that her late husband had bought for her.So she stayed there, and the presence of Aneta and Gabriel made her feel less lonely.
Therefore, when Aneta asked for help to look after Gabriel, Aunt Ranti gladly accepted, and at first Aneta asked for help not for free, but Aneta would pay Aunt Ranti for helping her, but Aunt Ranti firmly refused.

In the morning, Aneta went to the office that had rejected her yesterday, and she herself was also confused. Why was she called back to the company? Did she make a mistake? Not even working yet, how could she make a problem? She was just about to be interviewed and rejected first.

Aneta went straight to the HRD floor, and as usual, her appearance, which she thought was quite neat, caught the attention of the employees in the company because it was an elite company whose employees were concerned about their appearance.

After knocking on the door three times, Aneta entered the room.
There were already two people yesterday who immediately rejected her without wanting to listen to Aneta's explanation. There was anger when she found out that the company was more concerned with appearance than performance, but what could she do?

Aneta nodded her head while smiling a greeting to the two people in front of her. Although she didn't like them, she had to be polite.

One of the women sitting behind the desk told Aneta to sit down first on the bench that had been provided for the previous interview. Then she was seen picking up the receiver on the desk, and after talking for no more than a minute, the woman put the receiver back down.

"Mrs. Aneta Priscila, you have been accepted to work for this company. Congratulations, ma'am," explained the woman with the tag name Arista.

Aneta, who was surprised, did not immediately welcome Arista's hand, she was only stunned when Arista suddenly grabbed her hand to shake.

"Haven't I been interviewed yet? Then how did I get through?" Aneta asked after getting over her shock.

"You have good grades here, and your work experience is convincing enough to get hired here," Arista explained again as she showed Aneta her CV in front of her.

Aneta was very grateful that she could finally get a job, for the future of herself and Gabriel.

Meanwhile, in a restaurant, Reksa sighed with relief because the meeting was over and he had reached an agreement that was favorable to him.

He looked around the restaurant because he was in such a hurry earlier that he didn't pay attention to the restaurant where he went to meet his coworkers earlier.

Because Reksa was so excited when he got the news from HRD that Aneta, his schoolmate, had come and now must be working for his company, he forgot about his appointment with his coworker this morning.

And when he found the restaurant's menu, Reksa immediately ordered Aneta's favorite chocolate lava brownies from high school.

He ordered two, one for Aneta and one for himself.
Since becoming Aneta's best friend, Reksa also loves chocolate brownies.

After getting what he ordered, Reksa went out of the place. He briefly heard a loud voice as if he were angry, then he turned around and found a little boy who was being scolded by the security guard.

"Son, did your parents not teach you manners?" snapped the security guard at the little boy, who was still in the white and red uniform in front of him.

The child looked down, as if regretting his mistake, and it caught the attention of Reksa, who was about to open the car door in front of the restaurant.

Reksa approached the security guard and the little boy.
"What's going on, sir?" asked Reksa, looking down at the little boy in front of him.

"This little boy is trying to steal here, sir," said the security guard excitedly.

"No, Uncle. I just saw through the glass there, Uncle. I didn't steal." The little boy was adamant.

Then Reksa squatted down, aligning himself with the little boy. Seeing the little boy's eyes made his heart tremble. I don't know what happened to his heart.

"What's your name, boy?" Reksa asked softly.

"Gabriel, Uncle...."

"Then where are your parents, Briel? Shouldn't you still be studying in class at this hour?" asked Reksa as he scanned around, wondering if there were any parents.

Gabriel looked down. He was shy and didn't dare talk to strangers, that's what his mother had always taught him, because strangers might have bad intentions towards their people.

"Mom said I shouldn't talk to strangers."

"Alright, Briel, let's sit over there. Reksa pulled Gabriel's hand to follow him, sitting on a chair at the front of the restaurant.

"Okay, now let's get acquainted. My name is Reksa, and your name is Gabriel, right?" Reksa said as he pulled Gabriel's palm, making it look like they were shaking hands.

"Now we know each other, and Uncle is no longer a stranger.

But Gabriel remained silent, hesitant to speak.

"Believe me. I'm not a bad person."

After a few minutes of silence, Gabriel finally spoke up.

"Actually. I skipped school, uncle. Hearing Gabriel start talking made Reksa breathe a sigh of relief, whether it was because he used to be a pediatrician or because he really cared, but it seemed like Gabriel had a special charm for him to be this close and seemed to love the boy so much.

Reksa was silent, waiting for Gabriel's story to continue, but the boy never continued.

"Then... do you really want to steal?" asked Reksa finally.

"No, uncle, not at all," Gabriel denied immediately while waving his hands.

Gabriel reached into his pants pocket and pulled out some change that he had wrapped in white plastic.

"Today is my mother's birthday. I wanted to buy her favorite cake as a present for her birthday, but when I saw the price of the cake behind the glass, I didn't think I had enough money to buy it. I was going to bargain with the security guard, but he said I was stealing.

Reksa stroked Gabriel's hair, he could see how much the boy loved his mother and how lucky his mother was to have a son like Gabriel.

"Then where is your father?"
