Ch. 9Sibling Quarrel

Snowflakes rained down on the Glasgow ground, places already covered in snow by the time Katherine walked past. Not many people were passing by—maybe only two to three people who looked sorry to leave the house. Their bodies shivered just like Kath's body on her new horse, which was beginning to grit its teeth.

The journey to Viscount Thomas's mansion still took a few more minutes, so Kath had to make her way through the snow to her sister's mansion. Kath really didn't remember the past incident when the master from Bellshill abused her, at least for the next few hours while she was dealing with Eleana Russell's problems. It was different if she locked herself in the room and suddenly the image of the man came back to haunt her memory.

At that second, when she remembered the incident, Kath even lost her sanity and was about to jump from the balcony of the room like yesterday. She didn't know if she should be grateful or what to do when she found a newspaper on the table, and she felt she had to stand up in front of Eleana and protect her reputation.

Kath put her horse on the lawn when she saw her sister's presence at the front window of her mansion, with occasional stomach rubs and a smile when she also realized Kath's presence was out there.

Kath rushed into her sister's mansion, which was so warm and safe for the baby in Eleana's stomach. When Kath took off her coat, Eleana, with Anne following behind her, began to approach Kath. “I'm glad you're okay now, as I thought you would come today. Apart from that, my mother and I are very worried about you; now seeing you here with enthusiasm like this makes me very relieved," said Eleana, referring to yesterday's incident, which had darkened Katherine.

“That day is still very horrible and painful for me; three days is not enough time to get rid of a trauma. I don't know if I should thank you for diverting my mind or if I should scold you for acting up again. Eleana Russell, please help me with something better, not causing trouble with other people's families. Look, what else are you doing right now? Spreading rumors that your husband was stolen again by his ex-girlfriend?” Hearing what made Kath come there made Eleana a little embarrassed.

“This time, please let me move, Katherine. It's been a long time since I pretended to be fine, fake smiles, and faked kindness. It torments my mind and heart. So sorry, because this time I have to act, and I want my husband to come home.”

“Things like this will not satisfy you; stop playing games like this. I will go to the Orva family residence to apologize and sort it out for Mrs. Margaret."

“You always know it, Katherine! Don't get involved in this matter! You don't even know how a wife feels every day waiting for her husband's return." Eleana raised her voice, and Anne back there, who was the source of all the news spreading, could only quietly hide behind Eleana's back.

“You ruined a girl's life, Eleana. Don't you realize that?" The gentle look that had been so welcoming when Katherine arrived at her house had now changed to an angry glare.

"You're defending her again; you forgot that she also destroyed my life!!" "What's your life? What else are you out of luck with? Can't you just stay silent and enjoy your life that so many people desire?”

"Katherine, you really?!"

"I really don't want you to be the talk of many people; I really don't want to see my sister's name clearly printed in the title of the hottest gossip in this city for the umpteenth time. Would you be gracious with your life, My Lady? Thomas will kick you out of here if he doesn't love you anymore; if you're still here, it means he'll come home.” This time Katherine's pitiful gaze made Eleana silent for a long time. Unfortunately Katherine was really good at talking and made her melt with just a few words.

The two like beads met in silence. Katherine was firm with her determination to awaken her sister, and this time the older sister was reluctant to give in and pretended that she had not been touched at all by Katherine's words just now. “Anne, prepare some food for her. Don't let her go again without resting first," said Eleana with her gaze still locked with Katherine. Eleana relented, but she would not stop all the actions that her sister had opposed just now.

"Anne, were you the one who told people that Lady Darrellyn Orva became the third woman among my sister's relations?" Anne, who was about to go to the kitchen, suddenly stopped and was only able to lower her head.

“You are paid to protect Viscountess, not to put your ma'am in trouble like this!!” Kath snapped.

"I told her to," said Eleana loudly.

“So the other day you actually told the public lies about Lady Darrelyn? You have slandered other people who don't know anything," said Katherine. She looked up at the ceiling as if unsure of the new matter they had to face now.

“Katherine Aldora!!!” Eleana was furious; she screamed Katherine's name very loudly.

“When will you be on my side?” Eleana whispered again, when her screams didn't even make Katherine flinch.

“Is affirming the crime a form of defending part a or b? Think again with your wits who started the fight over whom,” Katherine decided. She immediately grabbed her coat back.

“Anne!! Don't let her go home before resting and eating!" Eleana left them first to go upstairs, and Kath was only able to freeze watching her sister's back move away and change into maids who walked towards her.

Eleana walked into her luxurious room, a luxurious room decorated with all the expensive furniture that used to be very warm and filled with love—but now it's very, very cold after the departure of Thomas, who is about to enter his third month. Don't know what her husband was doing out there; what was the reason for leaving the mansion and leaving Eleana with the baby without a father present? Eleana didn't do anything wrong to make her husband furious, and one thing that became a strong cause of Thomas' departure was the presence of another woman between them.

Eleana believes that the woman must be Darrellyn Orva, the eldest daughter of James Orva, and unfortunately Eleana believes that woman must still have a place in Thomas' heart.

Eleana's gaze was blank; she remembered the incident that day when Thomas suddenly didn't contact her after he promised to marry Eleana—a piece of newspaper with the big title that Viscount Thomas had proposed marriage to one of the daughters of the famous Baron James Orva. The name Darrellyn Orva comes from the words in the letter along with the story of how they first met and all forms of Thomas' admiration for Lady Orva.

“Darrellyn is the embodiment of perfection; it is hard to find a woman who is not only beautiful but smart, talented, and kind at the same time.” And that morning witnessed the first time that Eleana Aldora cried over a man. Eleana has never fallen for a man like this; she just used other men's assets without feeling love. It's different to Thomas, who truly captivates her, even though her love for money has never been forgotten.

At least Thomas has a difference with other men for Eleana. Rowena didn't stay silent; they planned a trap by bringing Thomas to bed and making him the father of the baby Eleana was carrying. Their plan went smoothly even though it was Katherine who again tried to block them; unfortunately, at that time, Katherine failed. The next morning, all the insults aimed at Eleana turned to Darrellyn Orva; the public believed all the news about the baby Eleana was carrying, while Darrellyn is still in a dark circle.
