Everyone seemed busy in the front area of the Earl of London's mansion; the bodyguards loaded their suitcases onto the carriage, and the Earl and his friend, Ashton, only paid attention to the work of the bodyguards. Ashton shook his head when he saw the third suitcase being put into the carriage because the Earl of London's visit to Glasgow was to catch Viscount Thomas not for a vacation, so he didn't need so many changes of clothes; even if it took a long time, the Earl just had to buy them at a well-known boutique, and he didn't need to make the horse carriage full only with suitcases filled with clothes.
Ashton glanced at Anthony beside him, who smiled at his own travel preparations. It seemed that Anthony was indeed lacking on vacation; he looked so enthusiastic, and Ashton could only shake his head instead of reprimanding him because the horse-drawn carriage had so many loads. "You should be bringing gifts to the people of Glasgow once in a while." Ashton joked.
"That's right, I'll ask the maid to wrap the ones in the mansion to be used as special souvenirs here. I'll leave them in your carriage, okay?" Ashton patted his forehead. He regretted reminding Anthony because it turned out that Anthony wanted to leave his things in Ashton's horse-drawn carriage.
"No, forget it. Glasgow people are no strangers to stuff from here." Ashton tried to save himself by pretending that way.
"Then I'll bring some of the best brands of alcohol."
"Well, that I agree!" Ashton exclaimed; he smiled happily when it comes to the pleasures of men on this one.
After everything was ready, Ashton and Anthony immediately traveled to Glasgow; they even decided to turn around towards Viscount Thomas's residence without resting first at Ashton's mansion, which was located in Edinburgh. Anthony didn't seem to mind; he wasn't tired at all if he had to go straight to work to find that bastard at his house. It was even better because Anthony was expecting a long trip, so he would just go home to sleep after being out and about on a long journey.
With Anthony's bodyguard directing them towards Viscount Thomas's mansion, they reached the mansion without any difficulty after traveling for hours.
Initially, Viscount Thomas's mansion guards stood in a row, not wanting to let the Earl of London enter his area because they already knew that Anthony would be there to look for Viscount Thomas again. However, when Ashton got out of his carriage with the Edinburgh coat of arms, the bodyguards immediately submitted and let Ashton and his entourage enter the mansion area. Thanks to Ashley's connections, Anthony and his entourage were also able to enter.
The guards seemed to know that Ashton would become Lady Katherine's fiancé so he could freely enter the mansion area of Viscount Thomas, who incidentally would become his brother-in-law if the match was successful. After all, the guards didn't have a problem with Ashton, so Ashton's guest had the right to enter the mansion area. It's just that Ashton, with his connections, can also bring Anthony inside.
The mansion looks deserted; for some reason, even though there are many servants and bodyguards passing by, the mansion feels lonely and gloomy. If Ashton is not mistaken, Ashton's guard once asked for information about Aldora's family and Viscount Thomas, and he managed to get information that every day after the wedding of Viscount Thomas's mansion was often filled with fights between Viscount Thomas and his wife, who always demanded this and that. Maybe that was one of the reasons why this mansion felt so lonely, and Ashton didn't expect the lack of harmony between husband and wife to also affect the aura of their residence.
Ashton and Anthony, without hesitation, strolled towards the main entrance, where Ashton looked respected, unlike Anthony, who instead looked scary to them, with the occasional maids whispering as if they were scared and they were threatened.
From a distance, Ashton saw a woman with a big belly smiling and approaching Ashton's arrival—don't forget someone beside her, whom Ashton recognized as the woman who insisted yesterday that she didn't care if he hurt her as long as the match was going on. Lady Katherine looked embarrassed by Ashton's presence there.
After Viscountess Eleana and Lady Katherine were in front of the two men, they then gave a bow to greet. With her bright face, it seemed only Viscountess Eleana didn't treat Anthony curtly.
"How about this? I didn't prepare anything to host the Duke of Edinburgh and the Earl of London." Viscountess Eleana was full of smiles, thinking they were right to visit as a candidate for her sister. But Lady Katherine's eyes seemed unable to lie because there was bitterness behind the look in her eyes when she saw Anthony; it's just that Lady Katherine could faintly hide it by occasionally turning her face away by looking down or looking at Ashton.
Viscountess Eleana kindly invited Ashton and Anthony into her mansion. Viscountess Eleana took the lead as host, not forgetting Lady Katherine beside her, whom she immediately led to a spacious and neat guest table. A maid left when Viscountess Eleana asked her to serve the best drinks they had there for Ashton and Anthony.
Viscountess Eleana could only awkwardly exchange pleasantries while Lady Katherine had only kept her head down. "I apologize that my arrival was so sudden. I know you are Lady Katherine's older sister. This will also be our first meeting to get to know each other," Ashton said politely.
"No need to be shy; soon my sister will be engaged to you. I hope we will become family who get along well." Lady Katherine just smiled, but Ashton remained expressionless, as if he were not interested in the conversation concerning his match with Lady Katherine.
"Oops, shouldn't I cover this up?" Viscountess Eleana kept her mouth shut; she had forgotten that the engagement had been agreed to be carried out in secret or whether it was on purpose to let Anthony know this.
"It doesn't matter; my friend already knows about my engagement plans with Lady Katherine," Ashton said, while Anthony only looked at the laughter inside. In Anthony's eyes, Viscountess Eleana and her sister looked obsessed with Ashton, considering that Ashton did not want the Lady and tried to cancel the engagement, which made Anthony sad and unable to laugh either. Anthony could see the extraordinary beauty of these two sisters; if they were sane, Anthony might also offer to propose to Lady Katherine. But Anthony knew what Ashton was like, and Anthony didn't want a woman chasing another man; for him, it was just a waste of time and energy, so Anthony was just being normal towards Viscountess Eleana and Lady Katherine; there was no implied desire other than wanting to catch Viscount Thomas.
Drinks were served; both Ashton and Anthony enjoyed them without hesitation. They even looked so relaxed with a sitting pose, leaning back in a chair and lifting one leg to the other.
Ashton took a sip of the brandy he had before starting a more serious conversation. "Viscountess Eleana, are you perhaps not curious about our purpose for coming here?"
"I don't have the courage to ask; since you will be my brother-in-law, I guess you are free to come here without reason even if you are just bored at home," Viscountess Eleana said softly.
"Unfortunately, we have another purpose here." Viscountess Eleana froze, didn't seem to understand, and was curious what made Ashton come there besides his sister Katherine there.
"We have come to look for Viscount Thomas because of one crime that man has committed to many people."
