Katherine turned to the main entrance of the Duke's mansion, where there was Ashton and his servant, who escorted him to the door. Ashton's smile was still wide, and the man was back to being nice to her when he had insisted on canceling the engagement. Katherine's little heart screamed in pain while pulling footsteps away from the Duke. Katherine cursed her fate and stupidity, which was now entangled in the same path as her stepsister and stepmother. It's okay that Katherine is already very sick; why did Katherine boldly say that she was ready to be hurt? Even at this second, she was desperately holding back her tears.

Katherine got on her horse; she looked at Ashton before completely out of the duke's mansion area. Ashton waved at her; this was even more painful than the man blatantly saying rejection; in fact, the feeling of forced love can be beyond painful. But again, Katherine lost her mind and chose to be selfish for this one.

Katherine's smile was the answer to Ashton's wave, worried that the man might not see her smile because the distance was far enough for Katherine to finally wave her hand awkwardly too. Katherine turned towards the open gate of the mansion with the help of the guards; her heart was really beating erratically; she didn't know what had gotten into her because this was not in her original intention at all. Poor Katherine, she has to live another unpleasant life like this. Compared to Lady Darrellyn, she seemed luckier than Katherine, who didn't even have a family and parents at all.

During the way home, Katherine was crying over her fate. Eleana's words were spinning in her brain like a broken record, but it was enough to incite and make Katherine think that it was true that she had to take the path Eleana said to be happy. The only thing Katherine has in this world is herself, and she has to make the only person who is in her happy. That person is the one who cares the most, understands the most, and never leaves her in any way, so why does Katherine still ignore her heart's desires? Katherine had to occasionally respond to her small voice of selfishness.

Katherine got off her horse when she arrived at her stepmother's residence, still wearing the diamond that the Doweger Duchess Rosella had given her on her ring finger. Eleana was still there too, looking worried like her mother, whether it was fake or they really did it for fear Katherine would cancel the match. Katherine walked past them and entered the house coldly. Rowena and Eleana stared at each other before Eleana was nudged by her mother to go and ask Katherine what had happened in Edinburgh.

Eleana walked quickly after Katherine until they arrived at Katherine's bedroom door, which had been opened by the owner. "Kath, what happened there?" and Katherine just shook her head in response.

"Kate, let's talk." Eleana held Katherine's bedroom door, which the woman was about to close. Seeing Eleana with a large fetus in her stomach made Katherine unable to bring out her strength and pushed the door so that Eleana could step back and the door could be closed. "What do you want, Elea?"

"I want you to tell me!" Eleana's terrifying glare finally came out.

“What should I tell you? About a stupid woman begging for love in front of a man, about a woman who insists on staying even though she's been kicked out many times, or does a woman who doesn't know herself seduce him to let him be by her side?"

"Kath," seeing an emotional Katherine made Eleana feel sorry for her, but she realized that one thing her question had been answered. Katherine did not cancel the engagement; instead, she begged to stay even though there was no love from Ashton. Eleana came closer, and when she saw Katherine's eyes glistening, she quickly grabbed her sister's hand and pulled her into the arms of the woman who was in two bodies.

“Good job, my sister; you did the right thing. You have to be selfish for your own happiness, and you can't let anyone take the one you love. Something like this is called sacrifice and can't be blamed; to get love, you have to sacrifice."

“But that is not right, Elea. I hate your behavior and mother like that, but I'm doing the same thing now." Eleana let go of her hug and rubbed Katherine's teary eyes. "In the end, you understand why we are, why we are like this, and why we are willing to sacrifice anything for love, material things, and social status."

“All of that was selfish; I didn't even stop regretting what I did.”

"And I'm also starting to think that there's nothing wrong with this," continued  Katherine, feeling ashamed of herself, feeling that she had lost in her own principles. Stupidly, she felt there was nothing wrong with fighting for Ashton. Let Katherine now take a similar path to Eleana and Rowena, but Katherine still has a different side. Katherine will never be greedy for wealth, just love. She just needs healing from the trauma.

“Sometimes I feel like you educated me like a monster. For now, please get out because I need some alone time.” Katherine asked Eleana to come out and not block her bedroom door.

Eleana raised her hands in the air, and with an evil smile, she stepped back and let Katherine enjoy some alone time. Katherine herself rolled her eyes at Eleana's response; immediately after that, she closed the door and let Eleana, who was still in front of her room. Eleana left after she heard the sound of the door being locked as a sign that she could no longer disturb her. Wandering Eleana looked in every direction for her mother for the best news of the day because they had succeeded in instigating Katherine to take advantage of the situation, run wild, and seek social approval.
