Eleana was at her mother's residence, and with Rowena, they never stopped laughing together while sipping hot tea and massaging their feet. It was as if routine for them, trumping the service of the noble ladies higher up above them. Several times their maids resigned because of this; even their maids didn't have much time off and had to serve them every minute, let alone Eleana. Her title as Viscountess made her live a more glamorous life and needed more maids than Rowena.
But they were both the same; Rowena was willing to spend more than she could earn for herself. While laughing with Eleana, she brought up the gossip newspaper that was just released yesterday, which concerned Lady Darrellyn. With the new bitch title in our town, Lady Darrelyn is rumored to be opening her doors to several different men every day. Not only Lady Darrellyn but her younger siblings and all the maids in her mansion were branded as bitches by the public. Rowena burst out laughing; she was glad that her daughter was able to take down the woman who had become her rival.
"I'm proud of you, Elea. After hearing the news of Katherine's engagement, I can assure you that she will suffer even more." Rowena smiled slyly.
"Oh, I'm really looking forward to it." Eleana put her cup back on the table.
"We'll see soon enough; what's more exciting is the public's response to the woman."
"True, but you know that I hate Lady Eloise?" Eleana brought up another woman.
"The daughter of Count Bamon?" Rowena confirmed. Eleana nodded her head before telling her story: “I went to Madam Bettie's boutique three days ago; she arrogantly showed off the jewelry attached to her body. Coquettishly at the male attendant, the lady tucked her hair behind her ear while winking and showing off the most expensive diamond in the world.”
"Diamond?"
“The Wittesbach diamond.” Rowena was shocked and reflexively covered her mouth when she heard the series on the diamond mentioned by Eleana.
“The diamonds from India are very expensive? I have no idea where she got it. Maybe it's imitation."
“I don't know; the diamond is quite small, but anyone will know the type and price. For God's sake, everyone there covered their mouths in shock and approached her naturally. The people who loved me turned around the woman. I really hate it; I swear if Thomas comes back, I will ask him to buy the newest and most expensive series from that woman," said Eleana bluntly.
"I will support you. I urged Thomas to buy you at any price."
"Of course, mom, I will take a walk after buying it and show it off to whoever is in front of me so the newspapers will report how shining I am."
"You are the best, Elea. But don't be sad if your mother buys it before you." Rowena smiled knowingly, making Eleana frown at her mother's joke. Even so, it is not impossible that Rowena can buy it earlier than Eleana because, until now, Thomas has not yet come home, and Rowena is never lonely with men who need her in bed.
"I won't tell mom which one I'm going to buy so you'll never get ahead of me." Eleana, not to be outdone, Rowena could only chuckle. Their competition is only about jewelry but also expensive things, and it is really fun for both of them; that's how they live every day—about jewelry, talking about other people, and talking about men—very compatible as a mother and child.
"Mother, shouldn't we prepare the best dress for Kath's engagement?" Rowena nodded her head. She took a sip of her tea before thinking about which designer would be suitable to make the best dress for their Katherine.
"What if Madam Matilda?"
“Oh my god, that's a famous designer. She used to design royal family clothes; it would be amazing if Kath wore it, and with that, no one would look down on us.” Hearing those words, Rowena snapped her fingers; that's what Rowena meant, like diving while drinking water. Not to mention that Katherine's fiancé was an honorable duke in Scotland; Kath's clothes had to be looked at carefully so that both families would not feel embarrassed.
“Instead of plain white, how about we have it accented in a subdued purple? Kath likes lilacs; she'll love them.”
"Oh, I can't wait, mom. Kath's dress must have been the most beautiful dress at any engagement event Scotland has ever seen. Don't forget if anyone asks, say that we are the ones who give ideas and choose the best dressers for Katherine," said Eleana.
"Oh, of course, my daughter. We will have a very grand engagement party and make a wedding that is more magnificent than this engagement."
"I totally agree with you, mom. If necessary, we can use the area of my mansion to be used as an event venue. Insert the biggest name for Baron James Orva's family, especially his daughter Darrelyn." Rowena had not had time to express her pleasure at Eleana's idea when suddenly Peter, Eleana's caretaker, came hurriedly and was quite nervous. Eleana and Rowena's attention was fixed on the man.
"What's wrong, Pete?"
"I received a letter and a box from Edinburgh." Peter handed over the roll of paper in his hand. Peter initially only waited in front of the house until Eleana, as her ma'am wanted to return to her mansion, but Peter saw three men on horseback enter Rowena's yard and gave Peter a roll of paper like a banner. They also ordered it to be given to Rowena immediately as an order from the Doweger Duchess Rosella.
Peter rushed off to meet Rowena in her lounge, feeling that the letter was very, very important. Seeing Peter running to meet Rowena made Eleana angry at first because she felt that her bodyguard was not polite to her mother, but Rowena rushed to contain Eleana's anger because she saw Peter's panicked face.
“Doweger Duchess Rosella just sent some of her bodyguards to deliver this. Seeing as it took three people to deliver this, I felt it was important, so I rushed here." Rowena only glanced at Peter who spoke, she then opened the letter without hesitation.
“To Madam Rowena, this letter was personally ordered by the esteemed Doweger Duchess Rosella. She asked for the engagement to be held in two weeks to be carried out quietly and secretly. Until the time of the wedding arrives, letters of invitation will be distributed throughout Scotland and the Duke of Edinburgh's colleagues throughout Europe. With regret, Doweger Duchess Rosella brings along a jewelry box for you.”
