Anne entered Eleana's room in a hurry; her expression was so panicked that something might happen. Eleana turned to her maid, "Ma'am, I couldn't stop Lady Katherine. It looks like he will be moving towards the Orva family residence to apologize for this.” Eleana ruffled her hair while screaming in frustration; she walked faster out of the room and headed downstairs. Anne ran trying to catch Eleana for fear that Eleana would fall and harm her baby.
“Peters!!!” called Eleana while shouting so that the maids looked at her warily for fear of going berserk again like last time and kicking the maids again.
“After Katherine left, she said she was going to the Orva family residence. Tell her not to interfere; if Katherine gets to Orva's residence and acts to embarrass me and my family, then all the servants here without exception will be fired. Go beg her to save you from this!!” said Eleana absolutely. Peter bowed respectfully as a sign that he would carry out his duties while looking at Eleana's departure to the top floor again.
Peter saw the ranks of the servants who had heard the mistress's words look sad, and not the least of them shed tears, afraid that this would really happen. Eleana was such a strict person when she said that it must have happened to her subordinates. They thought about how their family would stop working and how the orphaned girls would continue their lives outside the mansion without having a place to live. Peter then immediately ran; he used the horse given by Lady Katherine to stop Lady Katherine's journey to the Orva family's residence.
It was quite difficult to trace Katherine because Peter was obviously a few minutes late after Katherine left; luckily he recognized the path to Baron James Orva's mansion, which was familiar to him because Eleana often conducted reconnaissance there. Peter spurred his horse very fast, no matter how slippery the road was filled with thick snow and even cold air that could freeze his body.
Peter thought about the fate of the maids under Eleana; if he couldn't catch up with Katherine, then he also threatened to become unemployed, as well as the fate of the other maids in his hands. Peter accelerated even more as the snowdrops also came down harder. He saw the robe Katherine had worn to Eleana's mansion, and Peter could not be mistaken. Katherine was truly a persistent woman; she dared to brave the snow to straighten out the things her sister had made.
Too bad she had to have a sister like Eleana who liked to cause trouble. “My Lady!!!!” Peter tried to call Katherine from a distance. It seems that it will be difficult to hear because the distance is quite far, not to mention the wind is so strong that it makes a big wind sound.
“My Lady!!!!” Peter did not run out of effort; he kept screaming because it was difficult to overtake Katherine, who was far enough in front of him. Katherine still didn't turn around, so Peter had to rack his brains to find another way to cut the road so he could be faster in front of Katherine. Peter's horse neighed; he turned left to find a shortcut.
Peter managed to cut off Katherine's path; Katherine, who was surprised, even stopped her horse suddenly. "Peter, what are you going to do?" she asked.
"I called you from a distance, My Lady." Peter caught his breath. "It's not that I didn't hear; I know you were asked by Eleana to stop me."
“As you expected, My Lady. I didn't know you were so persistent." Peter was buying time even though it was freezing cold and Katherine was in a hurry.
“Yes, my stubbornness is more or less similar to your mistress. Now step aside; for whatever reason I will not back down for the truth.” Kathe was ready with her horse to pass Peter, but Peter said something that made Kathe stop again.
“Now the fate of the maids rests in your hands, My Lady. Viscountess Russell said that if you come to the Orva family residence and humiliate her by apologizing, she will fire all the maids there without exception.”
"She said something like that?" Katherine asked and Peter just nodded languidly.
“If you go, I will also lose my job. So please forgive me for having to stop you.” Kathe chuckled; she cursed in her heart. Eleana really came to this point wanting to take down her opponent. Darrellyn Orva faced the big slander that Eleana made; it is certain that the public will talk about it and stay away from her family.
It would also block some of the businesses that Sir James Orva created. See how many people will suffer because of one act of Eleana Russell, one family, as well as dozens of servants who depend on their masters who are threatened. Damn, Katherine couldn't move anymore; she had to protect those near her first before protecting others.
"Fine, tell her that I'll just go home."
"Then I'll take you." Peter was ready with his horse to take Kath to the house she shared with Rowena.
“Peter, do you really not trust me that much? Go home; I'm sure Eleana is waiting for news from you. Say that I go home; I ask for her promise that this is the last time she will risk the fate of her servants—I don't like it.” Katherine had completely turned around.
"Hey, where were you going? Hurry up, show me the way first.” Katherine returns, and she asks Peter to show her a faster way.
"That's why I'm going to accompany you, My Lady." Peter couldn't hold back the smile on his face.
"You're not allowed to tease me. Your life is in my sister's hands." Peter was silent for a moment; he took a step first and was completely out of step, but it was Kath who this time laughed because of Peter's suddenly tense expression.
Peter and Kath took different paths at a fork because Peter had to return to Viscountess Russell's mansion to tell Lady Katherine the decision that had been made, and he also had to calm down the maids because they wouldn't be fired again because of Katherine's help and choice.
Katherine herself went home and instead saw a horse-drawn carriage there. Katherine asked Uncle Joe who owned the carriage because the carriage did not have a symbol as an identity. Uncle Joe said the carriage belonged to Sir. Bertie, who came after about five hours ago because of a call from Rowena.
Katherine could already guess that her stepmother must be having fun in there. Katherine turned around; she didn't need to see her stepmother and a man making love because Katherine knew that it would remind her of the disgusting incident of the past.
Katherine walked towards the stables, where there was also a warm place to at least have some shade. "My Lady," said Uncle Edward, the stablekeeper at their residence. Katherine smiled as she walked over to a new milk-chocolate horse at their stable. "Beautiful," said Kath, while stroking the horse.
“Mrs. Rowena bought the horse. Sge said that this horse would be your new horse, My Lady.” Edward's uncle said so, while Katherine just smiled because she liked her horse.
"Uncle, please let me here until guest mother comes home."
"It would be an honor if you would spend more time here," said Uncle Edward. Uncle Edward is a servant who was taken from Mr. Aldora's mansion before; he is skilled in taking care of horses, and he is loyal. Uncle Edward could also be said to be a senior servant here, so Katherine didn't hold back on him either.
“Does Uncle know who Sir. Bertie is?"
"He's a baron; I hear he's also a business partner of Sir. James Orva," said Uncle Edward. Meaning that Katherine's guess had been right, Rowena was almost impossible to accept a baron to sleep with because all this time it had to be a man with a higher level of nobility; the only baron in Rowena's life was Mr. Aldora—Katherine's father. So the purpose of summoning Sir Bertie wasn't just for her benefit but for the benefit of her daughter Eleana.
"Katherine," Rowena's voice came suddenly. Seeing her walk alone to the stables area convinced Kathrine that Sir Bertie was back.
"Why don't you come in? Come on in, it's really cold, or you'll get sick." Rowena took Katherine's right hand and left Uncle Edward with his work again.
"Tomorrow morning, Dowenger Duchess Rosella will come to the house. She is the mother of the Duke of Edinburgh. We will arrange a match between you and the duke. So you should prepare yourself for tomorrow.”
