Ch. 8An Unexpected Encounter

"Honey, breakfast is ready," shouted the aunt from outside the door of the room.

The girl emerged from the bathroom and responded to her aunt's call.

"Yes, Aunt. I just wanted to come out... I... I was still taking a shower," she replied, still getting ready.

"Alright, darling," she sighed in relief when her aunt moved away from the door.

Inside the palace...

Cander sat quietly on the throne, smiling to himself, a behavior that felt unusual to both of his Betas. Their Alpha was typically a stern individual who rarely smiled, usually giving only a menacing grin. However, this morning, they were taken aback by their leader's rare demeanor.

"Is something amusing, Alpha?" Felix asked, bending slightly as he addressed him.

"Something enjoyable has happened to me," Cander replied ambiguously.

"What have we missed, Alpha?" Dary chimed in, curious.

"I am engaging in something akin to what you often do," Cander's puzzling statement left them both confused.

"Never mind. You two guard this place while I’m away. I want to see my little girl first!" Cander ordered before striding away, disappearing through the giant doorway of his palace.

The two Betas exchanged glances, realizing that their Alpha's behavior was peculiar. It was all due to Luna, who had transformed him from a sadistic, heartless individual into someone more compassionate. The two Betas could only smile and accept this change.

In the kitchen...

Lena munched on a piece of toast while reading the newspaper. The girl emerged from her room after spending half an hour struggling in front of the mirror. She sat next to her aunt while sipping warm brown milk.

"Honey, are you feeling unwell?" her aunt asked, noticing the long sweater that covered the girl's neck.

"No, just cold," she replied, returning to her breakfast.

Knock, knock...

The sound of knocking on the door startled her from her seat, and she walked towards it, her heart racing. She held her breath, trying to steady herself, and slowly opened the door, revealing a man with a charming smile standing right in front of her.

"Good morning, dear," the man exclaimed, reaching out to ruffle her hair.

Without thinking, she pushed him away and quickly closed the door with a loud thud.

"Who is the guest?" her aunt asked, approaching her.

"N-no... nothing," she answered quietly.

"I thought I heard someone speaking," her aunt said again, now standing directly in front of her.

"A... a... I didn’t see anyone," she lied.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" the man's voice called again, causing her aunt to shake her head.

"Auntie wants to open the door, so step aside," her aunt ordered.

With her head bowed, she reluctantly moved away from the door. Her aunt opened it, and the man immediately stared at her with a broad smile.

"Can I help you?" her aunt asked politely.

"You must be Vina's aunt!" Cander exclaimed, responding to the woman before him.

"Yes, that's right. Are you a friend of Vina's?" her aunt inquired.

"Yes, just a friend," she quickly answered, causing the man to suppress a smile.

"Then please come in," her aunt offered.

"No, I just came here to take Vina out. I asked for your permission, ma'am."

"Of course... as long as you can take her!" her aunt replied eagerly. The girl shook her head, indicating she didn’t want to go.

"Vina, it would be rude to refuse an invitation right in front of the house, and I'm sure you must have asked for permission," her aunt insisted. She paused, feeling defeated, and eventually relented as the man smiled again.

He stepped forward, and she said goodbye to her aunt. She noticed a large green motorcycle leaning against the wall, and the man held out a helmet. He looked cool and incredibly handsome, but still somewhat intimidating.

"Let’s go... what are you waiting for?" he said.

She sighed in annoyance as she walked toward him. He handed her the black helmet, and she attempted to mount the motorcycle but struggled. The man extended his hand, and hesitantly, she took it. A strange electric sensation coursed through her as he helped her onto the bike, pulling her close against his waist.

"Are you ready?" he asked, a proud smile on his face.

"Hmm... yes!" she replied softly.
