Tinnnn.... Tinnn....
The alarm clock sounded in Aunt Lena's car as Vina opened her eyes slowly. She glanced at her aunt, who was still engrossed in her dreams. A smile crept across her face when she noticed the airport officer preparing for the day. It was still 6 in the morning, and Vina shook her aunt's arm.
“Aunty, are we still going to be here?” she asked.
Aunt Lena woke up and smiled upon seeing Vina. “Come on... let's hurry,” she ordered.
They exited the car, taking in the scene at the airport, filled with cars and buses. Vina dragged her suitcase while her aunt busily checked their plane tickets. After completing various activities at the airport, they finally settled into their respective seats on the plane.
There was no sign of the plane leaving yet when a beautiful flight attendant approached them, asking what breakfast options they would like. Vina and her aunt ordered pasta and mineral water. Vina, who was fortunate to have a window seat, looked out at the view.
“Aunty... why do you work in a faraway country? Why not work and live here?” she asked, breaking the silence.
“Aunt Lena received information from an old school friend who needed someone to help her. At first, Aunt Lena was unsure, but over time, she grew comfortable and started to enjoy living there,” her aunt explained.
“And about the house, Aunt! Is it far from the residential area?” Vina inquired, her curiosity piqued.
“Not really... near our house, there are many girls your age, and you can join them. You won't be lonely, our neighbor is an elderly woman who owns a restaurant and a coffee shop. She often forgets to bring her coffee home, and she always asks her neighbors for help. You could become one of her employees if you want,” Aunt Lena offered.
“No, Aunt. I’ll just help her. As you said, my cat and I will explore the world,” Vina joked, ending the conversation on a lighter note.
Meanwhile, elsewhere...
Cander was dressed in a black suit and looked very handsome, with six men leisurely following behind him. He headed toward a shed located in one of his territories in the forest. A disturbing noise echoed from within, and Cander smiled upon seeing the shed door open, revealing a spy sent by his enemy.
“Well... well... who is this again?” Cander asked one of his men, who was also his friend.
“We caught him attempting to attack while the Alpha and both Betas were out of the pack,” explained Ducan, a man with East Asian features.
“The information we received indicates that this man is a spy sent by the Vampire nation. They are collaborating with the rebel Werewolves,” chimed in Lathan, the blonde-haired man who was tied up.
“They have also begun to quietly incite the Fairies in this forest to destroy us. However, we already know their plan. And we have captured the news anchor,” Rayner said, his deep voice devoid of emotion. He bore a piercing in his right lip.
“Tsk... there are many little rats roaming around my domain without my knowledge. I am sick and angry about intruders entering and exiting my territory at will,” a heavy and cold voice declared, causing the six men to shrink back behind Cander.
“I... I... I was just following orders,” the tied-up man explained, looking pitiful. He tried to justify himself, stating he had been hired by someone. However, it was not in the Black Pack's nature to easily trust others, especially Cander, who was known for his ruthlessness.
“Do you think I and everyone else here are fools?” Cander shouted, his voice resonating with the growl of a giant wolf.
His friends remained silent, keeping their mouths tightly shut. They did not want to risk angering their Alpha further when he was in this state.
“Kill this man,” Cander ordered coldly.
“Understood, Alpha. As you wish,” replied Harry, a man whose demeanor was both sweet and terrifying.
Cander shot away from the scene, joined by the two Betas who were always ready to serve him. Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced his heart, causing him to gasp.
“Ahh...” Cander winced, struggling to manage the sudden discomfort.
“Alpha, what is it?” one of the Betas asked with concern.
“I’m fine. You two should continue your work; I need to gather my thoughts,” Cander replied, dismissing them.
“Why is it so painful?” he muttered to himself after they left, feeling the weight of his solitude.
Back to Vina...
Vina had arrived at the Swedish airport, where snow blanketed the streets. For a moment, she felt like she had stepped into a fairy tale she had often read about, with a princess and a handsome prince. Holding her left hand, Aunt Lena smiled at her. They were among the last to disembark, as her aunt had wanted to avoid the crowd at the plane's exit.
As Vina stepped out of the plane, the cold air greeted her warmly. She rubbed her palms together, observing her aunt as she conversed with an airport officer. Soon, Aunt Lena’s car appeared, driven by one of the officials.
The man exited and handed the car keys to Aunt Lena, and Vina quickly climbed into the vehicle, followed by her aunt. Once inside, Aunt Lena turned on the heater, and warm air enveloped Vina, restoring her comfort. She hadn’t realized that her aunt’s location experienced winter much earlier. Aunt Lena drove cautiously, as the asphalt was covered in snow. The scenery was breathtaking, with tall trees draped in white.
“Your mother loved looking out of the window,” Aunt Lena said, her tone gentle.
“Can you tell me about my mother, Aunty?” Vina asked, turning her gaze to her aunt.
“My sister was a very kind and brave woman. You are the greatest gift she had ever hoped for. Your mother adored animals, which is why she loved exploring the forest where we used to live,” Aunt Lena replied, trying to smile.
“What... my mother died because of me,” Vina said, surprised at the words escaping her lips.
“Darling, you cannot think that way. She loved you dearly,” Aunt Lena comforted.
“If I hadn’t been born, my mom and dad would have lived happily,” Vina exclaimed, feeling guilty once more.
Aunt Lena pulled over to the side of the road. Vina lowered her head, recalling that she was the reason her parents had an accident. She hated herself for it, feeling helpless.
“Listen... you are a wonderful child. Your mother and father would be very proud to have such a kind daughter. Do not blame yourself for anything. Do you understand, sweetheart?” Aunt Lena hugged her tightly.
“I’m sorry, Aunty,” Vina mumbled softly.
“It’s okay, you will always be my favorite,” Aunt Lena said, ruffling Vina’s hair, which soon became tangled. Vina made a jealous face, causing her aunt to laugh. After that, they continued their journey to their new home.
