Ch. 13Schemes of Darkness and Unexpected Encounters

Within the grand palace atop a remote mountain...

The man with eagle-like eyes entered the vast palace. As soon as the maids, busy with their cleaning tasks, saw him, they immediately bowed. With a stern face and piercing gaze, he permitted no one to approach him. He walked through the palace with casual indifference, even though some maids called out to him. Despite their attempts, he remained completely expressionless.

A handsome man with curly brown hair sat on his throne, holding a clear crystal glass filled with deep red liquid. He took a sip and smiled to himself. His very pale skin and light brown eyes gave him an ethereal look, but when he was angry, his eyes would turn a bright red. Another equally handsome man walked in, opened the door, and sat beside the throne of the smiling man. When his son arrived, the king openly called for a servant and handed a glass filled with fresh human blood to his son.

"I'm not hungry," the handsome man said, his expression devoid of emotion.

"Animal blood again? You're just like your mother!" exclaimed William, the Vampire King, his frustration apparent.

"What did you call me for?" the handsome man asked casually.

"How's the situation in the human city? Is their blood as enticing as ever?" William inquired, teasing his son.

"I'm not going to drink human blood. Stop with the pleasantries and tell me what you want," the handsome man replied, casting an annoyed glance at his father.

"Okay, it seems you know me well, Marc... I need you to find a girl who is the mate of that filthy beast," William ordered.

"And what should I do with the girl?" Marc asked lazily.

"Kill him before the girl, the mate of that damned Alpha, meets him," William said, his anger evident at the thought of Cander being happy with a girlfriend.

"Do you know the girl's name or have a picture of her?" Marc asked indifferently.

"Unfortunately, I don't have any information about her. The guards I bribed at her palace only mentioned that the damned Alpha had met his mate. Use your wits and charm to lure her in!" William instructed with a smile.

"Will I be working alone or with the bodyguards this time?" Marc inquired, now interested.

Though he disliked human blood, Marc enjoyed killing weak humans.

"I trust you, my son. I'll leave the girl to you," William said, glancing at his son with a smile.

"I'll carry out your orders, Father," Marc replied before disappearing.

"Good... soon the Werewolf empire will be mine... hahaha..." William's laughter echoed through the room.

Inside Cander's palace…

I smiled as Cander introduced me to all of his people. Although I was timid at first, he consistently encouraged me. Now, I found myself in Cander's spacious room. Through the window, I could see the snowy forest outside. I noticed Cander’s men practicing, and then I felt a man hugging me from behind.

"Don’t look at other men... I don’t like it," Cander said, his arms wrapped around me.

Annoyed, I sniffed. "Stop, hug me."

I tried to free myself from his embrace.

"Why? Don’t you like it when I hug you?" he asked, tightening his grip.

"Cander... it’s not like that, but someone might see us," I shouted.

"It’s fine; they won’t bother us," Cander replied, resting his chin on my shoulder.

"Huh... Cander, when will I go home? It’s getting late and I haven’t cooked for my aunt," I asked quietly.

"In a minute. You smell so good," Cander said, starting to kiss my cheek.

"Ca... Ca... Cander, stop!" I protested as he began kissing my neck and tickling me.

"Soon."

Cander called out, his smile evident against my neck.

"Darling," Cander called softly.

"Yes, what is it?" I asked, becoming accustomed to Cander's calming hugs.

"Do you really want to go home now?" Cander asked, turning my body to face him.

"Y... y... yes," I replied nervously, gazing at his close-up face. I saw him smile and move his face closer.

"Terms and conditions apply!" Cander whispered, a calming mint scent emanating from his breath.

"Wh... what are the conditions?" I asked in a hushed voice.

"Kiss me!" Cander demanded, always seizing opportunities.

"Alright, close your eyes," I instructed.

"Not this time... don’t kiss me on the cheek," Cander said, as if he knew what I was thinking.

"Fine," I replied, rolling my eyes in exasperation.

"I'm ready," Cander said, bringing his face closer.

I smiled mischievously as the man in front of me closed his eyes. I held his right cheek and brought my lips close to his, deliberately avoiding a direct kiss. I saw Cander preparing for my kiss, and then...

Puck!

I kissed his forehead. He opened his eyes with an annoyed expression. I smiled at his irritated face, but it didn't take long before Cander held my cheeks and gently kissed my lips. The kiss deepened as time went on, leaving me breathless as he did not give me a chance to breathe.

Understandably, as a beginner, I wasn’t sure how to manage breathing between kisses.

Knock, knock, knock...

The sound of the door knocking forced Cander to break the kiss. The Alpha sniffed, slightly annoyed. I smiled happily, realizing it wasn't only I who could irritate him; even one of his men could.

"Enter!" Cander commanded.

"Sorry to interrupt, Alpha and Luna. I just wanted to inform you that the situation is safe from Vampire attacks," Felix reported with a smile.

"Fine... you can go," Cander said.

"So, can I go home now?" I asked again.

"Alright, darling. Let’s go home," Cander said, finally softening. He took me back to my aunt's house.

When we arrived, Cander walked me to my aunt’s door. I smiled as he still held my hand tightly. I held her left cheek and she smiled, kissing my forehead affectionately.

"Take care, honey. I must go now; I have something to attend to," Cander said, and I nodded slowly.

He returned to his motorbike, and I entered the house to find Scarf sleeping on the couch. I glanced at the clock, it was 4:00 PM. I sat beside Scarf, stroking him, until I remembered I needed to buy food ingredients.

I walked to the town supermarket. As I was about to enter, I heard a loud voice not far from where I stood. I saw a tall man with a handsome face, pale white skin, and blond hair dressed entirely in black. He appeared to be scolding an elderly woman who was bowing her head.

I approached the man and woman, feeling sorry for the old woman being scolded by such a rude man.

"What are you doing?" I asked, holding the old woman’s shoulders.

"What are you doing?" the man turned to me, asking.

"You are being completely impolite to a woman," I replied angrily, noting his behavior.

"You’re pissing me off," he shouted, grabbing my wrist tightly enough to leave a bruise.

"Wh... where are you taking me?" I asked.

"Maybe I’ll punish you," the stranger answered with an evil smile.

He led me into a narrow, poorly lit alley, but I could still make out his pale face, though not very clearly. He pushed me against a wall and held both of my hands, leaving me unable to fight back. Strangely, I felt no fear. The man smiled menacingly.

"Are you scared, sweetie?" he asked in a manner meant to unsettle, but I remained unaffected.

I noticed something odd about him, his fangs were longer and sharper than any normal human’s.

"Vampire, you must be a Vampire," I muttered involuntarily.

"What did you say?" the man asked, clearly having heard me.

"I said you must be a Vampire," I repeated, noticing his brief surprise before he quickly masked his expression.

"How do you know? You’re not a Vampire or a Werewolf, just a human," he said, sniffing me.

"I see your fangs. Are they poisoned?" I asked, unafraid.

"What if I bite you and you find out yourself?" the man said, smiling.

I smiled stiffly. "You’re weird!" I said, noticing his smile in return.

"What’s your name?" he asked.

"You’re not going to bite me?" I asked, probably sounding ridiculous.

"You’re interesting, miss. My name is Marc. What’s yours?" he asked, revealing his name.

"Vina... nice to meet you, Vampire," I said, smiling.

"We will meet again sometime... I have to go now," Marc said, disappearing before my eyes like the wind.
