“What? Why haven’t you paid for three months?” Kavita was wide-eyed with shock. “I regularly send money to your brother ....”
“I don’t know, Deryl said to make capital for the shop first ... Next month, if you transfer, I’ll pay my tuition fees.” Karin explained. “But for the third time he just kept promising me ....”
Kavita went limp. Entrusting Deryl with the house finances turned out to be the biggest mistake she’d ever made!
“You should ask Deryl to take responsibility.” Kavita says, deliberately switching off her mobile phone to avoid further drama.
It was enough that Kavita was the wingless angel who could always solve their financial problems easily, now they had to learn that money doesn’t just fall from the sky.
Before Ezra is seen leaving the room, Kavita has already left the office, so she won’t be late for her contract husband’s return.
Kavita must impress Ezra by not making the slightest mistake in order to get her contract proposal approved.
Whatever it takes, Kavita will do it to reclaim everything she’s given Deryl.
“Welcome, Sir.”
Ezra nods briefly as Kavita greets him at the door. After a few moments of no conversation, Kavita is able to step aside because it means there is nothing for Ezra to criticize about her service.
In the evening after dinner, Kavita went to Ezra’s office and handed him a stack of contract letters to check.
“Please check them first, Sir.” Kavita suggested. “If you want to add any conditions, we can discuss it now.”
Ezra nodded, while Kavita stood waiting with her hands together in front of her.
“Just sit down,” Ezra told her. “There’s no need to be so formal when you’re at home.”
“Yes, Sir.”
As soon as Kavita sat down, Ezra began to read each clause of the latest contract letter.
As she waits, Kavita doesn’t move much for fear of disturbing the concentration of her boss, who is reading the contract very seriously.
Until finally ....
“This is almost no different from the old contract letter,” Ezra commented. “What do you think I can expect from this marriage contract extension?”
Kavita had expected Ezra’s response.
“I think there is a slight difference in the new contract letter, Sir ....”
“What’s that?”
“An additional clause that contains the risk of this contract being legally cancelled, for example when you meet your soul mate and choose to get married—of course all our affairs can be settled more quickly.”
“So your salary obligation can be adjusted, is that it?”
“Of course, Sir. As has been your principle all along, there is no co-operation if it is not mutually beneficial to both parties.”
Ezra looked at Kavita with an impressed expression. “Good, you understand my character very well.”
Kavita breathed a sigh of relief.
“May I add a point here?” asks Ezra with a serious face.
“Of course, Sir.”
“In that case, you can leave first. You can pick up this letter from your room in the morning.”
Although confused and curious about what Ezra would add to the new contract, Kavita didn’t dare press him. She chose to leave Ezra’s office with her mind in chaos.

“This shop can be managed by you, dear?” Deryl said with a gentle smile to Yura. “I started this business from scratch ....”
“With Kavita too?”
“No, Kavita is mostly outside ... as you can see.”
“Oh yes, it’s only fitting that you’re not well taken care of like this.”
“That’s why I need another wife who can take care of me, darling ....”
“I promise to be a good and faithful wife for you,” Yura said with a seductive smile, her head resting on Deryl’s shoulder. “Later we’ll have many children, our future is bright, life is secure with this shop business ... I’m lucky to be your wife, Deryl.”
“Of course, Kavita should think the same as you.” Deryl nodded. “I’m a husband who lets my wife have a career, not many husbands are like me, right?”
“That’s right, most of them forbid their wives to work and limit their activities to the kitchen ....”
“Well, you know better than Kavita!”
Yura slowly changed her facial expression.
“But Kavita doesn’t seem to like our marriage.”
“She needs time, that’s okay. The name of a wife is to be devoted to her husband no matter what, Kavita must be educated like that.”
Yura just nodded, the important thing was that she could establish a marital relationship with Deryl without any significant obstacles.
Meanwhile, at the Danadyaksa residence, Kavita had just finished folding Ezra’s clean clothes and putting them into the wardrobe. As his wife, her contractual obligation is to serve all of Ezra’s personal needs, except for his mental needs. As for Ezra’s grandmother, she had been handled by the nanny who had lived in the house before Kavita.
“Oh yes!”
Having just rested for a while, Kavita remembers that she has to check Ezra’s bed, including changing his sheets and pillowcases.
Everything should be ready when Ezra comes in to rest.
“Would you like something to drink before bed, Sir?” Kavita asked politely.
“No, you can go.”
“Yes, Sir. Excuse me ...” Kavita stepped out of Ezra’s room. “Oh yes, the contract letter, Sir ...?”
“Tomorrow morning, I forgot.”
Kavita nodded and didn’t ask any more questions, trusting that Ezra wouldn’t delay the work too long.
That night, despite the late hour, Kavita decides to return home, chauffeured by the Danadyaksa family as per the terms of the contract.
“Vita, my darling, you’re finally home!” Deryl welcomed Kavita home with a smile on his face. “You’ve worked hard, haven’t you? You must have made a lot of money!”
Kavita only smiled wryly at that, but her expression instantly changed when she saw Yura across the room.
“Oh, I’m tired!” Kavita complained honestly as she sat down on the sofa. “Hungry, thirsty ....”
“Hold on, I’ll tell Yura to prepare some food for you—Yura, go to the kitchen now!”
Yura flinched at Deryl’s sudden order, but Kavita didn’t care.
It was time to show her who was the real queen of this house.
“Are you tired, darling?” says Deryl in a voice as sweet as honey as she caresses Kavita’s delicate face. “Want me to give you a massage?”
Kavita shakes her head. “No, how can a husband massage his wife?”
“It’s okay, I’ll do it for you!”
Kavita smiled faintly, especially when Yura appeared and served her some snacks and a cup of hot tea.
“Eat first,” Yura says, invitingly.
As if on cue, Kavita took a sip of the tea.
“I’m going to go straight to bed ....”
“But the money, Kavita?” Deryl is stunned when Kavita stands up from her seat.
“What money?”
“Karin’s school fees, electricity, water, kitchen needs too.” Deryl reminds.
