Alecia sat pensively in her living room, the cell phone in her hand ringing repeatedly with the name "Auntie" appearing on the screen. Reluctantly, she pressed the silent button. Her aunt often asked for financial assistance on the pretext of helping her uncle's family who was always experiencing economic difficulties and her children's studies. Alecia was tired of being the family ATM, especially since her husband Boy's attention was getting less and less.

When Boy came home from work, Alecia greeted him with a sweet smile. "Boy, how was today at the office?" Alecia asked trying to start a conversation.

Boy only nodded briefly, his eyes immediately fixed on the television screen. Alecia felt like air, invisible to her husband. Dejected, she took the initiative to brew Boy's favorite coffee and brought it next to her husband who was sitting on the sofa.

"I made you some coffee, I hope you like it," Alecia said as she placed the coffee cup on the table. Boy lifted his face, looked at the coffee cup and then focused back on the television. "Thank you," he said flatly.

Alecia sat next to Boy, trying to find a topic that would interest him. "Boy, I want us to be a normal husband and wife. Maybe this weekend we could go out to dinner together? Like other couples?" Alecia hoped this could be a bridge for them.

Boy turned his head, his eyes meeting Alecia's expectantly. "We're only getting married because of my papa's request, so you shouldn't expect more from this marriage," Boy replied, as he refocused on watching television.

Tears began to well up in Alecia's eyes. She felt more and more distant from her husband, but she was determined not to give up. Alecia knew she had to keep trying, for the sake of the household they had built together.

That morning, sunlight streamed warmly through the windows of Alecia's house. Boy had left early for his company, leaving Alecia busy with her household routine. As Alecia cleaned the room upstairs, her eyes fell on a stack of documents lying on Boy's desk. They looked important with the company logo clearly printed on them.

A sense of worry mixed with a sense of responsibility made Alecia decide to deliver the document to Boy's office. She quickly changed into a neat blouse and skirt, picked up the document, and rushed out of the house to the nearest taxi stop.

Upon arriving at Boy's company building, Alecia walked through the crowded lobby with a steady stride. She noticed every detail around her, trying to locate Boy's office based on the logo she remembered. However, before Alecia could find Boy's office, an unexpected sight caught her attention.

In one corner of the open space, Alecia saw Boy talking intimately with a stylish brown-haired woman. They were both laughing loudly, and Boy occasionally touched her arm in a familiar way. Alecia felt like her heart was being squeezed. She stood transfixed, unable to believe what she was seeing.

Alecia gathered her courage, walking towards them with heavy steps. Boy was surprised to see Alecia suddenly appear in front of him, and his facial expression did not change but remained flat when looking at Alecia, unlike when looking at the woman beside him. Alecia handed over the documents to Boy without a word, her eyes not leaving the woman standing beside her husband.

With shaky steps, Alecia turned and left the building, tears beginning to fill her eyes, her heart full of disappointment and deep pain.

Alecia walked out of the office frowning, her confusion arising as she recalled Boy's big smile when he was with her, a far cry from when they met. "Why is he so different?" she murmured softly. Her curiosity lingered, but she decided to put it aside and walk home. Arriving home, Alecia lazily moved from one desk to another, preferring to shut herself in her room, contemplating what she had just seen, while occasionally staring at the ceiling that gave no answers.

A cloudy afternoon accompanied Boy's walk home. As soon as he arrived, he called out in a high voice, "Alecia... Alecia...!" Alecia, who was arranging books in the living room, immediately replied in a soft voice, "Hm yes, Boy." "Why did you come to my office, ha?" snapped Boy, his eyes glaring. "I was just delivering a document I thought was important," Alecia replied, her voice trying to remain calm. Boy sighed harshly, a hard look on his face. "Listen, Alecia," he said, pointing firmly at Alecia, "I will never take you as my wife.

I don't want to have a country wife like you, you poor thing!" Every word came out so cruelly, as if cutting the air between them.

Alecia bit her lip, enduring the deep pain. "What did I do wrong, Boy?" she asked in a trembling voice. Boy looked at her with a cold stare. "I just don't want to have a poor wife like you. I want a successful woman like Citra; she's the CEO's secretary, she has a career. You just expect money from me," he taunted in a tone full of contempt. Tears began to well up in the corners of Alecia's eyes, but she tried hard not to cry in front of Boy.

Alecia regretted her decision to marry Boy. She could have refused to marry Boy but just to have the family she dreamed of she accepted her uncle's offer of arranged marriage for the sake of debt repayment. But if she knows boy's attitude like this Alecia should think twice about marrying this arrogant man.

For the time being Alecia is trying to survive. Alecia wanted to see the extent to which the boy was being rude to her. Alecia wants to make sure a little more whether her decision is right to separate from the boy.

It was getting late, and Alecia was brooding in the deserted living room. The lamps gave off only a faint glow, creating a gloomy atmosphere. On the sofa where she sat, the pile of clothes she had brought from home was scattered, showing that she had never really settled in Boy's house. Her heart was heavy, but she knew this decision had to be made.

In slow motion, Alecia began stuffing the clothes into the suitcase she had prepared. Each fold of clothing seemed to bring memories of Boy, of hopes that were now dashed. She sighed, trying to calm herself from the emotional shock that hit her.

Outside, the night breeze blew lightly, bringing a bone-chilling chill. Alecia looked out the window, staring into the infinite darkness of the night. She felt alone, alienated, but also relieved. She had endured the pain of unrequited love for too long.

Suitcase closed, Alecia picked it up and stood up straight. She strode to the door, not looking back, leaving the room she had once hoped would be home. That night, with steady steps, Alecia left the past behind and stepped into her own freedom.
