After they walked for a while, Alen and Viana came to a place. It was a fertile plateau on the edge of a cliff. There was a deep ravine ahead. The scenery here was good, and the air was cool.
However, now, Viana was not interested in the scenery but was waiting for Alen's answer.
Alen stopped and looked back. "Just ask me what you're thinking. I'll answer them one by one.”
Viana was silent for a moment. She sorted through the many questions in her mind and finally summarized them all in two words. “Who am I?”
Alen smiled and answered calmly. “Viana, of course.”
Viana frowned. “Really?”
Alen. “Why would I lie to you? Your name is really Viana.”
Viana looked at Alen intently. But based on the man's expression, it didn't seem like he was lying.
“Alright, my name is Viana. Then where is my family?”
Alen crossed his arms behind his back and looked into the distance. “Your family is far away in the capital city.”
Viana rounded her eyes. “I'm from the capital? What is my family surname? What is my family like in the capital?”
Alen did not answer immediately. He looked back at Viana. The look in his eyes was deep. “Do you really want to know about your family, Viana? Finding out will only add more problems to your life. I think a simple life like this is better for you.”
Viana's face took on an unwilling look. She insisted. “No, what's going on? Who is my family?”
Seeing the earnest look on Viana's face, Alen sighed and replied, “Your family surname is Harvey, a noble family of the Harveina Kingdom. Your full name is Viana Harvey, their eldest daughter.”
Viana was struck by lightning.
The Harvey family?
Flashes of memory raced through Viana's brain. Images of a palace, a mansion, a middle-aged man she thought was her father, a woman she thought was her mother, a man younger than her, and a middle-aged woman who looked nothing like her.
The memories burst forth like a rushing tide and overwhelmed Viana. Her eyes closed, her forehead wrinkled, and her head hurt. Viana, who was standing, almost faltered, and Alen caught her.
“Accept those memories. Calm your emotions.” Alen said slowly.
Viana's head throbbed, and she unconsciously leaned her forehead against Alen's chest.
That was it for a minute.
After her body had relaxed a little, Viana pulled herself back nervously. “Sorry, I...”
“It's okay.” Alen cut in understanding. “So, you've remembered everything now?”
After that incident, Viana's face was a little pale, and she nodded her head. “I remember my family.”
“Good, Viana Harvey.” Alen said, deliberately calling her by her full name. “Next, do you want to know how you got here?”
Viana's heart felt incredibly mixed. “Whatever happened, it must not have been a good thing.”
“Right.” Alen turned around and pointed towards the ravine not far ahead. “Do you see that ravine over there, Viana? That time, you had a terrible accident and pushed down a ravine with your car.”
Viana's expression is very horrified. The memory of falling into the ravine and its pain invaded her. She could now remember it clearly.
Viana was breathing heavily. “You were the one who helped me that time?”
“Yes. I was passing by to go to the mission site. Unexpectedly, I encountered chaos on the way.” Alen replied, “That was the place of your accident. You injured very badly.”
Alen then took her to the hospital, and things got to this point. Viana already knew that clearly.
Viana took a breath, trying to stabilize her emotions. “You brought me to a remote place like this. There must be a purpose, right? Tell me. Why don't you just return me to the capital? I have my family there.”
Before Alen could answer, Viana quickly thought of another reason. “Or... does this have something to do with my accident?”
Alen smiled. “You think quickly. That's right. According to our investigation, your accident was intentional.”
Viana's eyes widened. Her hands reflexively clenched into fists.
Alen added, “In fact, I saved you. But, a day later, news came out that you were dead in the ravine. In fact, they didn't find your body at all. Isn't that funny?”
Viana immediately understood. Holding back the hatred in her heart, she said, “So, someone faked my death on purpose.”
“And the person who faked my death must have something to do with the accident. The culprit is the same person.” Viana quickly thought of the connection. “But why would they want to kill me so badly?”
Alen looked at her and shook his head lightly. “I can't figure out why yet. I can guess that the culprit is very powerful. We examined the scene of the accident and did not find any evidence pointing to the perpetrator. The driver who died did not leave any identification. They were ready and didn't intend to leave any clues.”
Viana muttered. “Very good. Who around the capital is capable of something like this?”
But two seconds later, they were staring at each other. It wasn't hard to figure out who the most likely culprit in this incident was.
The most powerful family in the capital and in the entire kingdom of Harveina, the Harveys.
Alen looked at Viana. “If our guesses are correct, then you are the one who can best guess who in your family is likely to have a great hatred for you.”
Viana had gotten her memories back perfectly. During her time living in the Harvey family mansion, she could indeed sense someone who disliked her greatly.
That person was her stepmother, Grace.
Her hands clenched into fists.
Although Viana didn't have enough evidence that this accident was Grace's plan, she was sure in her heart that her stepmother was involved.
Her hatred was sometimes too obvious when Viana was the head of the Harvey family. Especially after she stepped down this time. Grace must have gotten rid of her.
An outsider like her, who had even imposed love on her father, wanted to usurp the Harvey family's leadership position this time.
Viana let out a tired sigh. She closed her eyes and touched her forehead.
Alen saw Viana's expression. “Looks like you already have a suspect in your heart.”
Viana nodded. “Yes, it's my stepmother and her son.”
Alen chuckled softly. “So, the rumors weren't wrong—that you beat your stepbrother and became the head of the Harvey family. As a man and not that far removed in age from you, your younger brother would not have been unwilling to make that decision. His mother will also support him.”
Viana knew that. But was it justified?
Her heart felt a little sad.
As the legal and eldest daughter of the Harvey family, she had always tried to be good to both of them. They also did not dare to offend her at all because of her position and her father being alive at the time.
But now...
Viana grated her teeth. She felt so hateful!
You came into the Harvey family and lived under my father's pity, but then you retaliated in this way after he died!
Viana vowed to take everything that was rightfully hers!
