After lunch, Sheryl and James went back to the office. They distributed food to the employees. Then Sheryl and James went to their respective rooms. James is busy with the documents he has to sign. While Sheryl was busy with the ring on her ring finger.
She smiled happily at James' gift. Sheryl hadn't expected her ex-husband to be so romantic. Her heart began to pound. Sheryl immediately clutched her chest.
"Oh my God. Do I still love him? Why is my heart pounding?" Sheryl mumbled as she stared at James through the glass room divider, "I admit, you are indeed handsome and generous. Your attitude has changed as well. Now you care more about me than when we were together."
Sheryl sighed and looked away from James. She leaned back in her chair, then looked up at the ceiling of her room. Sheryl felt a dilemma. On the one hand, she was touched by James' change in attitude. But on the other hand, she found it difficult to accept James back because of Maria's obstruction.
She would be seen by many people, including Mary, as a woman of no standing. If Sheryl chooses to return to James, it is not because she is tempted by James' wealth. She went back because she still loved James.
But sometimes other people won't understand. They will still think negatively about Sheryl.
"Sheryl."
Sheryl snapped out of her reverie. She immediately sat up and saw James sitting in front of her. "When did you get here?" she asked.
"Five minutes ago," James replied. "I've been calling you, but you're still busy with your daydreams."
"Oh, I see. I'm sorry."
"That's okay. But what have you been thinking about?" asked James.
Sheryl sighed and replied, "I've been thinking about our relationship, James. I feel like I don't deserve to be with you again. I love you and I know that now. But if we got back together, there would be a lot of people who would object, including Maria. I'm very, very worried about your mother's feelings. I don't want to be the cause of ruining a child's relationship with its mother. I don't want that to happen."
"It turns out that you really do care about my mother's feelings. But she doesn't care about your feelings. You don't have to think like that. This is our life. We're the ones living it. So don't think about other people's feelings. We deserve to be happy with our own choices, too," James said, trying to calm Sheryl down.
"Why are you so sure about coming back to me, James? Wasn't I the one who made you depressed? I made a mistake without thinking about your feelings first. I didn't know the divorce would be so bad for you," Sheryl said tearfully. "If I had just been a little more patient back then, maybe it wouldn't have turned out this way. You wouldn't have gotten depressed, and I wouldn't have lost my mom.”
James let out a long sigh. He took Sheryl's hand and rubbed it. James tried to calm Sheryl down so she wouldn't get lost in the sadness of what had happened.
James said, "Sheryl, you don't have to remember the past. I never blamed you for what happened to me. You had the right to divorce me because I was guilty of ignoring your wishes. Perhaps this is our destiny. God separated us for a while until we realized each other's mistakes. If it wasn't for God's will, we might not have met again after the divorce. But you see now, right? We were brought together in an unexpected way. That means God is still giving us a chance to be together again.”
Sheryl wiped away her tears. She nodded, agreeing with James' words. If God didn't want it, they might not be reunited. Sheryl should have realized that. Everyone has their own destiny.
"Now don't cry anymore. Let's just go with what God has planned. I'm sure that one day my mother will accept you back as her son-in-law," James said with a smile.
"I hope that really happens, James."
James smiled even more. "Does that mean you accept me back as your husband?"
"Since when did I say that?" asked Sheryl, confused.
"You just said it."
Sheryl frowned. She had the feeling she hadn't said anything. "I didn't say anything, James. I just said I hope that really happens."
"That's the phrase that means you've accepted me back," James said excitedly.
"Oh dear! You're making me angry, huh?"
"No, I'm not. I'm just summarizing. What's wrong with that?"
Sheryl snorted in annoyance. It was pointless to argue with this man. In the end, Sheryl would give in and leave.
"Whatever," Sheryl said irritably.

At 6 p.m., Sheryl arrived at the front of the house. James dropped her off. Sheryl was grateful that James still cared about her.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow. Don't take the bus, okay?" James said from the car.
Sheryl, who had just gotten out, nodded immediately. "Okay. I'll wait for you."
"Alright. I'll go first. Take care of yourself. Bye."
"Okay, bye!"
Sheryl waved goodbye as James' car passed in front of her. Afterwards, she intended to go into the house. As she opened the fence, a car appeared in front of her house.
She canceled her intention to enter the house and waited for the car's owner to come out.
"Hi!”
"Dave?" Sheryl was shocked. She hadn't expected the owner of the car to be Dave, her ex-boyfriend.
"How are you? I've missed you so much, Sheryl," Dave said.
"I'm fine," Sheryl replied, pulling herself together. "Why did you come here?"
Dave smiled and said, "I missed you. So I come to your house."
"You don't have to miss me. Our relationship is over," Sheryl said.
"But I never agreed to that. You're still my lover up until this moment."
Sheryl snorted quietly. She was very tired today. But she still had to get Dave out of her house. Sheryl was still hurt by Dave's words back then. She still couldn't forgive him.
"Go away. I don't want to deal with the past right now," Sheryl said.
"Is it because of James?"
Sheryl, who was about to leave, stopped suddenly and looked back at Dave. "What do you mean?"
"I know, Sheryl. You and James want to get back together. But your problem is with Maria. She doesn't like you, does she?"
Sheryl clenched her fists and said, "Shut up and get out of here!"
"I'm not leaving until you're mine.”
