Aaron reached for his phone from his pants pocket. Enthusiastically, he typed a short message to send to Jimmy.

[Jimmy, are you busy?]

It wasn’t long before Jimmy replied.

[No. I was just about to call you. Let’s talk on the phone.]

They then started a phone conversation.

“How are things in Grosszerlang? Why haven’t you been in touch since yesterday?” Jimmy asked on the other end of the line.

“I’ll tell you now. I’m currently working at a bookstore, and my boss is very kind,” Aaron explained.

“Thank goodness, I’m glad to hear that. Where are you staying so I can find you easily when I visit?” Jimmy asked again.

“I’m staying in a free rented room provided by my boss. I’ll send you the online map address tomorrow.”

“Once again, I’m grateful that you’re getting some ease over there,” Jimmy said with relief.

Aaron straightened up.

“But you have to hear even better news,” Aaron said excitedly.

“What is it?” Jimmy asked.

“I met that pretty girl who was drunk the other time.”

Jimmy’s eyebrows knitted together.

“Drunk girl? Who?”

“Natasha. Do you remember?”

“What??” Jimmy seemed shocked.

“Why are you so surprised?” Aaron asked back, confused.

“Did she see your face?”

“No.”

“Good. Don’t let her recognize you, or you’re done for,” Jimmy said.

“What’s the big deal if she sees me? We don’t even know each other.”

“Natasha is Lucas’s girlfriend,” Jimmy replied.

For some reason, Aaron felt sad hearing that.

“If you two get acquainted, sooner or later Lucas will find out about you, and I can’t guarantee your safety this time,” Jimmy explained.

“I’m not afraid,” Aaron said firmly.

“Don’t be foolish. You’re not ready to face Mr. Robert, Lucas, and the others because right now you’re still considered guilty, and they might actually put you in jail,” Jimmy said.

Aaron fell silent. Jimmy was right; he didn’t have any proof about the case. His strength was still zero to face them now.

“Live quietly there for a while until you have the strength to clear your name. Don’t feel alone because I’ll always support you,” Jimmy said.

“Alright. Thank you for reminding me.”

“You’re welcome. Now get some rest; we’ll talk again later.”

The call ended, and Aaron sighed heavily. Part of him wanted to follow Jimmy’s advice, but another part wanted to defy it.

The next day, Ethan resumed his routine of working at the bookstore. He organized the messy books, dusted off the shelves, and checked the new arrivals. A smile suddenly crossed his face as he looked at the store’s name, “Violet,” which had a girly vibe, yet all four employees were men.

“Why are you smiling to yourself?” Tom, who had been observing Aaron’s behavior, asked.

Aaron turned and stepped down from the ladder.

“I find this store strange. It has a girly vibe, but our boss and all the employees are men,” Aaron said.

“It’s a father’s way of expressing his love and longing,” Tom said.

“What do you mean?” Aaron asked.

“But don’t bring this up again; I’ll only tell you once.”

Aaron nodded.

“Twenty years ago, Mr. Sylvester’s only daughter, Violet, was kidnapped. He reported it to the police, but the child was never found. Mr. Sylvester tried everything to find his daughter, even losing his big company, but it was all in vain,” Tom explained.

Aaron fell silent, feeling guilty for misjudging.

“That’s why this store is called Violet and is dominated by purple, her favorite color,” Tom continued.

“I’m sorry to hear about this,” Aaron said.

“So am I. But again, don’t bring it up. Just pretend you don’t know.”

Aaron nodded in understanding.

“Now, please check the list of people who bought books this week. I need to label all the new arrivals,” Tom said.

“Alright.”

Aaron carefully checked each name, and his eyes landed on the name ‘Natasha,’ who had bought five books within a week.

“Tom,” Aaron called out.

“Yes?”

“Does Miss Natasha come to the store almost every day?” Aaron asked.

“Who’s Natasha?”

Aaron smacked his forehead.

“I forgot you don’t know her. The girl who bought me the novel *Truth Cry Lie*. Do you remember?”

“I remember now, but I didn’t notice if that girl comes often. Try asking the other employees,” Tom said.

Aaron asked the other two employees, and one of them mentioned that Natasha had been coming to the bookstore for two weeks.

‘She didn’t leave her phone number. How can I contact her,’ Aaron thought.

Even though Jimmy had forbidden him from getting to know Natasha, Aaron still wanted to make an effort to get to know her. Aaron came up with a crazy idea so that Natasha wouldn’t discover his identity.

Natasha didn’t come to the bookstore that day, leaving Aaron a little disappointed, but on the other hand, he was glad because it gave him time to buy something.

Two days later.

“What is that?” Tom asked, cringing.

Aaron was holding a sticky, stretchy object that looked like rubber and was the color of his skin.

“I’m going to stick this on part of my face,” Aaron replied casually.

“That’s disgusting!” Tom exclaimed.

“Does it look like a real burn? I bought it from an online store.”

“Don’t be weird! What’s it for?”

“I’m doing a disguise like in the movies,” Aaron said.

Tom thought Aaron was joking, but his face looked serious.

“If Miss Natasha comes, call me Rey, not Aaron. Got it?” Aaron said casually.

Tom ruffled Aaron’s hair in frustration.

“Stop acting weird, or I’ll hit you!” Tom yelled.

“I have a reason for this. I’m sure you’ll understand one day. Please,” Aaron said.

“Do whatever you want! I’m done!” Tom snapped and walked away.

Aaron just laughed at Tom’s reaction. Then he headed to the bathroom and applied the fake wound to part of his face. It looked frightening, but to him, it was the only way to get close to Natasha without her knowing his true identity.
