Ch. 3Find Out

The next day, Aaron went out wearing all black and was going to travel in a locomotive train.

One chat from Jimmy.

[Sorry, I can't take you. Suddenly there was an important meeting this afternoon. But, I will contact you often, take care of yourself.]

After reading and replying, Aaron put his cellphone back in his trouser pocket.

The sound of the chimney whistling began to be heard from afar, slowly approaching accompanied by the creaking of train tracks.

After stopping in front of him, Aaron took off his black hat and started to enter the door leading to the hallway, walking to one of the sitting booths next to the window and placing his backpack beside him.

The locomotive train started moving and that was the right time to take a can of his favorite black coffee while staring at the view outside the window at the vast expanse of wheat fields.

After traveling for almost four hours, Aaron got off the locomotive train in the late afternoon. Armed with directions from the station officer, he entered the village of Grosszerlang, passing through a calming pine forest.

Several accommodation addresses were passed, but Aaron did not reach an agreement because the price was quite high for him. So when the sky started to get dark, he found a simple accommodation made of wood which was far from residential areas.

Aaron hesitated for a moment, but finally steadied his steps, approaching the worn door and then knocked three times.

Not long after, the door creaked and slowly opened, and a gray-haired old man was standing in front of him.

Aaron took off his hat, revealing his handsome face with clear blue eyes.

"Good afternoon sir, my name is Aaron Reynard." Aaron bowed respectfully.

"I came from out of town and was looking for accommodation. Is there an empty room for one night?" Aaron asked.

The old man was confused for a moment but had seen that the young man before him was harmless. Finally Aaron was allowed to enter.

"Please come in," said the old man.

"Thank You." Aaron came in and started looking around.

The old inn was very small, with only five rooms with simple furnishings and a fireplace.

The old man served hot chocolate and some biscuits.

"This place used to be an inn, but after my wife died it was never used again, it was just an ordinary house full of memories for me," explained the old man.

Aaron was shocked and felt bad.

"I'm sorry I dared to disturb you"After finishing this drink I will go look for another place to stay," said Aaron uncomfortably.

"It's okay, if you really want to stay here, you don't have to pay anything," he continued.

"I'm afraid of causing trouble," said Aaron.

"No problem, I'm happy if anyone wants to come to this simple place."

Aaron was a little relieved, at least for that night he could sleep soundly and would think about plans for the next day.

Apparently, you don't need a soft mattress to sleep soundly, Aaron wakes up comfortably without the nightmares that always appear.

The smell of coffee made him want to leave the room immediately.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" asked the old man who was pouring hot coffee into a cup.

"Good morning. I slept well sir, thank you." Ethan sat in a wooden chair in front of the fireplace.

"Winter is always perfect for drinking hot coffee, please enjoy it." The old man handed Aaron a cup of black coffee.

"That's very kind of you, thank you." Aaron slowly drank it. His eyes were focused on the wide yard full of grass and pine trees around it.

"Sir, actually yesterday I got lost before finally finding this inn. Where do you think the road to the residential area leads?" Aaron asked.

The old man put out his cigarette and pointed towards the path.

"There is another path that is easier. If you walk north, you will pass a beautiful lake and then after that there is a residential area, but you have to walk for quite a long time," explained the old man.

"Thank you very much for the hint." Aaron breathed a sigh of relief.

"If I may ask, what is your need for coming to this village?" asked the old man.

"I want to find any job and also a cheap room to rent," Aaron answered.

"Young people like you definitely have skills, why choose any job?" The old man asked again. Aaron smiled faintly.

"I lost my diploma, so I can only rely on my strength for now." Aaron wasn't lying, the company had taken all his assets including his college diploma.

The old man nodded.

"In that case …." The old man got up and took something. Apparently a piece of paper.

"Come to that address," added the old man.

Aaron read the address which turned out to be a bookstore.

"Bookstore?" Aaron's eyebrows knit together.

"Yes, try applying for a job and say my name, Grandpa Hans," said the man.

"Oh, so master's name is Hans." Aaron smiled again.

"Okay, I will come to this address to apply for a job. I am very grateful, thank you."

Not wasting much time, after cleaning himself and putting on a striped shirt, Aaron secretly put away the envelope containing the money for the man and said goodbye.

Aaron finally found the lake after walking quite a distance and resting for a while. His blue eyes looked at the calm lake water but in fact his heart was very complicated.

"Uncle is reluctant to help me, he doesn't even want to meet for a moment," he muttered softly.

Three days before Aaron left for the village, in the evening he visited Robert's magnificent residence. Maybe talking between nephew and uncle can go well. Aaron hopes that Robert can help him find justice for his problem. But Robert flatly refused and threw him out rudely.

Aaron took a deep breath, when he remembered, his chest felt incredibly tight.

The slander not only made him lose his job and assets, but also his uncle and cousin after his parents died.

After half an hour of sitting there, Aaron continued his journey. Until he didn't realize he had arrived at a residential area which turned out to be full of shops and accommodation.

"Grosszerlang is a tourist destination that has recently become popular with tourists. They walk around enjoying views of the trees, lakes and do outdoor activities such as cycling"That's why we, as souvenir sellers, make good use of it," said the accessories trader when Aaron asked.

Now Aaron knew at least a little about the village and he was sure it would be easy to feel at home there.
