"Laura!"
Laura turned around, holding the tightness in her chest. She saw William who was approaching her.
"Laura, are you okay?"
Laura closed her eyes for a moment. She tried to suppress her pain. Not long after, Laura stood up straight. She smiled slightly as she endured the pain and nodded slowly. "I'm fine."
Justin frowned in confusion. Didn't Laura look like she was in a lot of pain? But why did she look fine? Even her face was back to normal. "Laura?"
"From?"
"Are you okay?" Justin asked for confirmation.
Laura nodded slowly. "I'm fine Justin, I just..." Laura sighed. "I was just acting. Did it work? Haha, I'm sorry for making you all worry."
Justin made a horrible face. He stared at Laura with his shiny, piercing eyes. That woman really had lost her mind! How could she put on a show like that. Justin had been so worried and it turned out that she was just acting.
Seriously! Justin was very upset with Laura. But he was relieved that she was okay, and so were the others. They all breathed a sigh of relief.
I'm sorry I lied to you Justin, but there was no way I was going to tell the truth. I don't want to make people worry about me. So it's better that I don't tell you guys because it's better. Laura's heart sank.
William didn't seem to believe Laura's answer. William knew that Laura was lying. If Laura was lying, William wouldn't believe her because he was sure she wouldn't be like that, because if she was like that she would make people worry and find out about her. And William was sure that Laura was really in pain. He wanted to check on Laura's condition but the situation prevented him. Not to mention they had to go snorkeling, Laura's condition could worsen if she was down or unstable. But what could he do? They were going snorkeling anyway and he could only hope that Laura was okay.
Justin held Laura's hand tightly so she wouldn't slip away from him. It could be dangerous if she slipped away from him. Laura couldn't swim, so he wouldn't let her get away from him. Then Justin and Laura entered the water after making sure she was okay and getting ready.
They were followed by the others who entered the water. Together they explored the sea, which looked so beautiful. There were coral reefs and fish everywhere. They wanted to touch them but they remembered not to touch them for the beauty of nature.
After exploring the natural beauty of the sea, they all returned to their original places feeling satisfied and happy. It was time for lunch and just like last night, it was the women who would cook but this time the men helped out. It's just that there are pranks done by the men.
Like Sarah and William who were cutting carrots, William was always nagging that it wasn't the right way to cut and they kept arguing.
Ethan and Lidya were cooking like frying, grilling or something. But Ethan always intervened by taking over the spatula when Lidya was frying eggs on the grounds that the hot oil did not touch Lidya's skin.
Justin and Laura, on the other hand, wash the chicken and clean it. Justin's dirty hands poked Laura's face until she smelled like chicken.
"Justin already," Laura whined. He had poked her face almost 10 times with his dirty hands.
Justin laughed softly and washed his hands thoroughly. He grabbed a tissue and pulled Laura's face away and wiped it with the tissue. Justin wiped her very slowly and gently. After wiping, the man threw away the tissue and continued to help Laura.
cleaning the chicken that was almost finished.
"The chickens are done!" said Laura as she finished cleaning the chickens.
"Then our job is done! Bye, Laura and me-"
"You go ahead, I'll stay here. I'll still help." Laura cut in.
Ethan immediately laughed at Justin for Laura's refusal. Justin chuckled.
"Then I'm staying here too."
"Yeah, no one can stop you." Laura snapped and walked over to Lidya with Ethan.
Justin was very annoyed with Laura's changeable behavior. One minute she was friendly, the next she was rude. Then what, friendly again? It's like that woman has multiple personalities. Justin smiled slightly as he shook his head in wonder. He approached Laura and helped her.
After lunch, as arranged, they had free time and that meant everyone was free to go where they wanted as long as they didn't leave the beach area. Justin gave each of them a bracelet to carry with them. They put it on and the women frowned in confusion. When they asked what it was for, Justin didn't tell them, he just forced them to wear it. The only ones who knew what the bracelets were for were William, Ethan, and himself.
Laura walked to the waterfall where she and the others had played when they first got here. She climbed onto a rock and sat on the edge, dangling her legs down. Laura touched her chest and closed her eyes. She breathed in and breathed out.
Is my life going to end quickly? Laura thought sadly.
If indeed her life is coming to an end, Laura has one last wish: she wants everyone she loves to be happy. Laura just wants her loved ones to be happy. She smiled slightly as she prayed silently.
Laura could have cured her weak heart by asking Justin or accepting help from William. But she didn't want to, she didn't want to burden others for the sake of her own personal interests or for the sake of her own recovery, it was the same as using others.
Every day Laura felt an almost painful tightness in her chest. But she could always hide it from Justin. Even more fortunately, sometimes Justin wasn't around when her chest felt tight so she didn't have to bother covering up the pain. As the days went by, the pain in her chest became more and more severe. Almost every day, William asked her to accept his help and seek treatment. But her mind was made up, she would not accept William's help especially since the cost would be too much.
Laura closed her eyes and conjured up images of her family in her mind. "It looks like I'm going to catch up with you guys, and if that does happen, I'm sorry that I haven't been able to keep my promise of a happy life," Laura whispered and smiled sadly.
