Dan contacted Ed, stating that he would head to Joe's office. Of course, Ed was worried and immediately followed Dan.
Dan has now arrived at Joe's office, a luxurious office that was not inferior in size to his family's.
The secretary prevented his entry, then handed him an envelope containing a message from Joe.
“You're late, buddy. I have business to attend to, see you. Find me if you can.”
That was the handwritten message by Joe Bloom, Dan's longtime rival.
“Damn it! Hey, you. Tell me where Joe went.” Dan looked furious, his face flushed as he clenched the message in his hand.
“I don't know, Sir. You surely know Mr. Bloom's nature, don't you?”
“Damn coward! Give me paper and a pen.”
The secretary provided what Dan requested. Dan immediately wrote a message and placed it on Joe's desk.
The message cursed Joe as a coward, challenging him to meet anytime he wanted.
Dan quickly left Joe's office. In the lobby, he met Ed running towards him.
“Oh, God. Thank goodness you're okay. Don't do this alone, Sir. Joe is a cunning and dangerous man.”
“He's just a coward, Ed. Let's go home.”
Dan walked ahead of Ed, then waited for him. Dan hitched a ride in Ed's car, as he was worried that his vehicle might be sabotaged.
True enough, as they reached the exit gate, Dan's car exploded. A woman who had just exited her car was thrown far and fainted.
“Ed, stop. Someone was hit by the explosion of my car. Quickly, save her!”
Ed turned his vehicle and headed to the scene; people started running, and Dan immediately took the woman's body and brought her inside, then the car quickly drove away.
“Oh no. Hang in there, you're full of wounds.”
The girl had beautiful black hair, with a strong rose scent. Her pretty face was now adorned with glass shards and some wounds. Her long eyelashes seemed to move, indicating she was slowly regaining consciousness, but then she fell silent and didn't move.
“Oh, God. Ed, hurry, this girl is dying!”
“Alright, Sir. I'm driving as fast as I can.”
Their bodies shook as Ed sped, trying to reach the hospital before it was too late.
They finally arrived, and Dan ran swiftly while carrying the girl's body.
“Please, attend to her immediately. This girl was hit by the explosion of my car.” Dan shouted.
The medical team arrived and immediately attended to the girl. Dan quickly registered her and paid for the treatment deposit.
Dan was confused when asked for the girl's name; he didn't know her at all, he only saw her being thrown when his car exploded.
“Alright, I'll just put Mrs. Dan. How much is your service deposit, Sir? The minimum here is $1000.”
“Alright, I'll give $10,000, please let me know if it's not enough. Here's my card, I'm rushing.” Dan handed his name card to the administrative staff.
Dan quickly left rushing, the staff widened their eyes as if in shock; they had just spoken to a billionaire!
“Oh God, oh God. He's a handsome and kind-hearted billionaire.”
In the car, Dan asked Ed to place strong guards to watch over the girl he saved.
“Joe might come to harm her, then blame me like what happened three years ago.”
“You're right, I'll immediately send guards to watch over her.”
They had arrived at the mansion; Ed immediately sent four guards to take turns watching over the girl at the hospital.
Dan's phone vibrated, an unknown number called him. It turned out to be Joe, calling from a payphone.
Currently, payphones are scarce. They are usually found at airports, hotels, and some other important facilities.
“You're too much of a coward, Joe. Shameful.”
“Hahaha, it's a pity you're still alive, buddy. I'll make you die next time.”
“I will never die, even my spirit will choke your spirit to death, you bastard.”
The phone call ended after hearing Joe's mocking laughter.
Quietly, Dan listened to the background of the voice.
“Airport, the sound is coming from there. I hear the flight announcement to country X.”
“Sir, please control yourself. Listen to me for a moment. What if he's just baiting you, then setting a trap? Don't be hasty. He might deliberately be there, so you go looking for him again; we have to be smarter than he.”
“You're right, I'll devise a plan. He will likely contact me in a few hours because I wasn't provoked. Before that happens, I'll first crash his stock price.”
Ed contacted his trusted person in Joe's company, he hacked the security system, stole company funds, and compromised security systems and some other important files.
Dan smiled contentedly; in a few hours, shareholders would likely engage in panic selling, and he would happily buy everything.
True to his expectations, within three hours, crucial information had been successfully hacked and transferred to Dan's computer. He quickly made copies and saved them in files.
Bank accounts had started to be drained and were now in a secure location, impossible to trace by anyone.
“Hahaha, finally, I can sleep soundly for a bit. Good night, Ed.”
“Good night, Sir.”
Dan whistled as he entered Rui's room, checked on his brother, then closed the door.
He felt extremely satisfied for getting back at the cunning Joe; at least, he had time to move the girl he saved to a safer place.
The next morning, Dan was dressed neatly, his face glowing. He instructed Ed to buy all the shares sold by shareholders in Joe's company.
“I'll go to the hospital and move the girl to a safe place. Prepare the helicopter.”
“Alright, Sir. Please head to the backyard; the helicopter is waiting.”
As Dan arrived, the helicopter's engine started, the rotor blades began to spin slowly, then it departed from the mansion.
Dan looked down, observing the city's hustle and bustle in the morning; some areas appeared congested, and traffic seemed very busy.
They reached the hospital's rooftop, where the hospital director welcomed them and escorted them to where the girl was.
“Sir, the girl you rescued is named Miss Selena Wood. She is the youngest daughter of Mr. Gordon Wood, a renowned oil and gold mining tycoon.”
“Thank you for the information.”
Dan knocked on the hospital room door, then entered.
Inside, Selena was crying, she turned to Dan and stopped her tears.
“Who are you? Are you the one who saved me?” Selena asked firmly.
It turned out Selena was not the spoiled girl Dan had assumed; she seemed to be a tough woman.
“My name is Dan, yes, I'm the one who saved you yesterday. What were you doing there?”
“Someone contacted me, claiming to be from company J, Dor Corps, wanting to collaborate with my gold mine, even a staff member gave me directions on where to park; I thought it was a special service. The company seemed exceptional, but then the accident happened.”
“Miss Wood, if I may. I suggest we relocate immediately. The company you visited belongs to the cunning Joe if you've heard of him. It's possible he might harm you. I've arranged for a helicopter; let's go.”
Selena hesitated but then followed her instincts to join Dan.
Dan carried her down the stairs to the helicopter. Shortly after, they left the hospital.
They headed to Dan's family hospital, where Selena was given a special treatment room. Dan also requested the doctor to tend to all of Selena's wounds until she recovered.
“I ask you not to tell anyone about your whereabouts. Just say you're fine, so your parents won't worry. You can go home once all your wounds heal. I'll visit you as often as possible.”
“Hey, wait!”
