“Oh, Mr. Edmund. I will only take my cousin; he will sign a project with Winston Company,” Julian told Ed.
“Use the guest-exclusive elevator, Mr. Bronx.”
“But, Sir. I saw a man enter the elevator; it seems like he's applying to be a janitor here.” Roger protested to Ed.
“Please use the guest elevator, Sir.”
Ed entered the elevator and left them there. Roger, with an unsatisfied expression, entered the guest-exclusive elevator, accompanied by Julian, his cousin.
They were then escorted to the CEO's room of Winston Company, where a secretary asked them to wait.
Two hours passed, and Roger and Laura became anxious. Laura repeatedly asked what time the CEO would meet them.
“I apologize, Mrs. Stone. The Boss's schedule is busy; I will help you to contact him.”
“Good, I don't have much time,” Laura said arrogantly.
Thirty minutes later, Edmund arrived and headed to the CEO's room. The secretary immediately followed him inside.
“Cyntia, cancel the contract with B' Corps. Furthermore, all cooperation agreements, pay the fines today.” Ed gave the order to Cynthia.
“Okay, Sir.”
Cynthia then conveyed the news to Roger and Laura. The man did not agree with the unilateral decision from Winston Company.
“This is unfair; we have been partners for a long time. Why is it decided abruptly now?”
“Right, we waited for hours and only got rejection? This is ridiculous.” Laura vented her anger by scolding Cynthia.
“Sir and Madam. I am just doing my job, and I am just an employee here. Please leave this place.” Cynthia, annoyed, ushered the two of them out.
“You! You will regret kicking me out. This low-quality and despicable company.” Roger insulted Winston's company with anger.
Dan clenched his fists, his face turning red with anger upon hearing Roger's words from his hiding place.
He devised many plans to retaliate against Roger for his remarks about his company. Eventually, Laura and Roger left the place grumbling and cursing.
“Cyntia, blacklist B' Corp. No one should collaborate with them or step foot here.” Dan said coldly.
“Okay, Sir.”
Cynthia promptly carried out Dan's orders, then Ed escorted Dan to the room to sign the documents. Ed prepared to go to Dan's company.
“Demote Laura, then kick her out of my company if she can't work properly. I'm sure she will leave the company once you're there.” Dan instructed Ed on what to do.
“Understood, Sir. Should I give her another lesson?”
“Of course, do your best. I entrust everything to you because you are the expert.”
Dan and Ed had planned many things to make Laura and her family pay for all the mistreatment Dan had received.
Laura was now in Dan's company, sitting in a chair with a sour expression.
“This is not good, Daddy's company needs fresh funds. The money from here can no longer be used; all of it has been spent on investments in The Stone company.”
A knock was heard on the door; her secretary arrived with Ed, who had a cold expression.
“Hello, Mr. Ed. Please come in. What makes you busy coming here?” Laura greeted him casually.
“Mrs. Laura, I'm here to replace your position. This is the appointment letter as the owner.”
“What? Do you mean I'm being kicked out of my company? Don't be insolent; this doesn't make sense.”
Ed's lips lifted slightly, then he looked coldly, exuding a killer aura.
Ed explained that the company legally belonged to Dan, not Laura, who acted as the manager.
“That damn Dan won't let me be at peace, that scoundrel. Hey, don't think it's easy to kick me out of here; there must be a meeting.”
“What's the meeting for? The owner has made the decision, and besides, the position and voice of all investors are only 40%. The decision remains in the hands of the owner.”
“Mr. Ed, why are you so greedy to get rid of me from here? Isn't it satisfying for you to cut ties with B' Corp? Don't be greedy.”
“What can I do? My boss gave the order. Now, please leave this place, pack up within an hour.”
Ed left the room, then asked the secretary to make an announcement to all employees in each department and investors that the company's leader had changed, and Ed was now the top leader there.
It didn't take long for Ed's request to spread to all employees and investors. Laura packed her things without anyone helping her, not even her secretary.
Laura left the company with a look full of disdain and scorn. Many employees disliked her arrogant leadership style.
“Wait for my revenge, you bastard. You will kneel at my feet, and I will spit on your ugly face, Dan.”
Roger arrived and was surprised to see Laura carrying her belongings. Roger approached Laura and helped carry a box brought by his girlfriend.
“What's wrong? What happened, baby?”
“That damn Dan kicked me out of the company. Useless jerk, ah, forget it, besides, the company is bankrupt; I've taken all the money. Even to pay the employees' wages next week seems insufficient, hahaha, go to hell, Dan.”
“What? You were kicked out of the company? Alright, let me take you home, we'll talk there.”
They left the building and headed to Laura's house, a wedding gift from Dan.
“Honey, what do you think? What should we do for revenge?”
“Do you know his family? Try to visit them and take back the company from Dan.”
“No, Dan only said that his parents had passed away. He never wanted to tell me who and where his family is. He always avoided every time I asked about his family.”
“Baby, don't you suspect something? Dan Winston…his departure coincided with you being kicked out and the unilateral termination of the cooperation with my father's company. What if he is the billionaire Dan?”
Laura fell silent for a moment, then burst into laughter. It couldn't be Dan; there are so many Winston families in this country; they can't all be part of the wealthy and famous Winston's, right?
“Besides, if he's that rich, his company wouldn't go bankrupt, right? He must have a lot of money to cover losses. In fact, we both saw him applying for a job earlier. I don't think Dan is that billionaire.”
Laura's words made sense to Roger. Laura remembered something, then she sat on Roger's lap and started to coax him.
“Honey, do you love me? If I need your help, are you willing to help me?”
“I adore you; of course, I love you, baby. Tell me, what do you need?”
“I…need $2 million to start something, can you do it?”
Roger frowned for a moment, Laura began to look sad. The man couldn't bear to see his woman like that.
“Alright, I'll give you the money. Don't be sad anymore.”
“Got you.” Laura said in her heart, smiling teasingly.
“But there's a condition.”
