"I can't come to meet you, Sir, not this time, my father is going through a critical time," Selina politely declined Secretary Kenzo's request to take her to see Mr. Adam. Selina didn't want to leave her father, who was still in the operating room.
"I can't do that, Miss, as this is a direct order from Mr. Adam. It's better for you to come with me for a moment. There might be something serious to be conveyed," Secretary Kenzo insisted.
Selina's words were abruptly cut off as she saw Adam standing behind Secretary Kenzo. Adam stared at her sharply, causing Selina to feel fearful. She couldn't leave her father in this condition, especially since it was a direct order from Mr. Adam.
"Why did you hang up on me, Selina?" The cold question made Selina fall silent. Tears welled up in her eyes, explaining that she didn't want to be disturbed today and didn't want to comply with Adam's request.
"I'm sorry, Sir, but today I really can't meet you. My father is in critical condition, and I can't bear to leave him alone inside," Selina said, looking at the closed door of the operating room. She couldn't leave her father alone, especially since everything she had done so far was to provide the best for his treatment.
Adam stared sharply at Selina, his hands in his pants pockets. "I understand your main goal, but the contract clearly states that you will comply with whatever I want for a full year. As for your father, don't worry, some of my staff will stay here and provide further information. So, you don't need to sit here quietly, follow me."
Adam turned and left Selina in front of the operating room. Secretary Kenzo glanced at Selina with a look that urged her to follow Mr. Adam.
Adam stood in front of a public chair, waiting for Selina to come. When Selina arrived, Adam started a serious conversation. "I know that you are a hardworking woman who always wants the best for your father's recovery. However, you also need to remember our one-year partnership contract, where you have to comply with all my wishes, including answering my calls."
"Your father will receive treatment from several renowned specialist doctors after this operation. Perhaps he will need treatment abroad for his recovery," Adam continued.
Selina, who had been looking down, so scared by Adam's sharp gaze earlier, suddenly raised her eyes. "Is that true, Sir? What about the cost of the operation? I have borrowed so much money from you, and maybe I can't repay it."
"All the costs of your father's treatment will be covered by me. You don't need to worry, everything is included in our marriage contract," Adam explained.
A sudden smile broke out on Selina's face, making Adam feel strange in his heart. Seeing Selina smile momentarily captivated Adam. He had promised to provide the best treatment.
"Thank you for everything, Sir. I don't know what else to say," Selina said, holding Adam's hand tightly. Their gazes clashed for a few seconds before they realized they were in a public place. Selina then released her grip. "I'm sorry."
Adam leaned his face forward and whispered in Selina's ear, "I'll be waiting tonight, get yourself ready, Darling."
As night fell, Selina decided to move as Adam wished. She packed up all the belongings left in her old home, taking clothes that were almost left behind, thankfully Secretary Kenzo gave her extra time.
Selina securely closed the suitcase containing her belongings. "Everything is done, I only took two suitcases."
"Please get into the car directly, Miss, let me handle these suitcases," Kenzo said as he took the suitcase from Selina's hand. Selina smiled at Kenzo, and they quickly got into the car.
Selina gazed at her old house from the outside. "This house holds many memories. I hope it will be handed over to someone who can take care of it better."
Although the house was just a rental place, Selina felt it held many memories. She would soon move to the new apartment bought by Adam.
Kenzo loaded all of Selina's belongings into the car trunk and instructed Selina to get in quickly as it was almost evening, and Mr. Adam would surely be back from the office.
After a journey of nearly fifteen minutes, they arrived at Selina's new apartment. Kenzo allowed Selina to open the door to the apartment, which was now hers for the first time.
Selina took a deep breath, then exhaled as she opened the door. She was surprised to see Adam standing in front of her. Adam grabbed Selina's hand, causing her balance to be disrupted, and she fell onto Adam's body.
"I've been waiting for you for a long time," Adam said.
Selina moved away from Adam, trying to stand up. Adam's sharp gaze truly mesmerized Selina. The gentler Adam acted, the more Selina doubted her status.
"I'll take the suitcase, Miss Selina, into the room first. Please, Sir, enjoy your time together," Secretary Kenzo said, making them exchange glances.
"Sit down," Adam ordered, patting his thigh, instructing Selina to sit on it.
Selina glanced at Secretary Kenzo, who stood on the stairs ready to lift the suitcase and some of Selina's belongings. "Later, Sir," Selina said softly.
Adam didn't accept rejection or delay; he pulled Selina's hand and sat on his lap. Adam rested his head on Selina's shoulder. "I've missed you. Everything feels better since you've been here."
Trying to shift so Adam's head wouldn't lean on her, Selina felt very uncomfortable, especially embarrassed because Secretary Kenzo was still around.
"Sir, aren't you still tired? I can make coffee first," Selina offered.
"Who told you to make coffee? Stay here with me," Adam said, wrapping his arm around Selina's waist.
"I want to talk a lot, let's stay like this for a few minutes," Adam added.
Closing her eyes, Selina felt a strange feeling. "Oh God, please don't let me get too carried away." For a moment, they fell silent. Adam pondered other matters, while Selina felt all the comfort and desires from her dream man fulfilled with Adam. However, she realized that Adam was Mrs. Kayla's husband, and that status would never change.
