Ch. 1A Father's Decision.

It was around 7 a.m., in a luxurious residence owned by Razzan Xaquile and now occupied by Mahendra Putra Xaquile.

A white middle-aged man-wearing a suit with great dignity-was holding a mobile phone next to a black luxury car. Unannounced, he came to visit his son with a serious face. After five minutes, the door opened and Razzan was greeted by the maid.

The white-haired, wrinkled-skinned woman apologised for the delay in responding to her employer's father's arrival. “Please forgive me for taking so long to open the door, Sir,” the woman said.

Razzan frowned curiously. “My son having another party, Inem?” guessed Razzan. The servant was nervous and afraid to answer Razzan's question. However, Razzan forced the woman who had been entrusted with looking after his son to speak the truth.

“Inem, don't cover up my son’s behaviour,” Razzan pleaded.

“I'm sorry, Sir, but what you say is true. The young master had a party last night with his friends," the woman admitted. “I was reluctant to tell Tuan. I was afraid you would fight,” she continued.

Razzan clasped the hand he had been holding behind his body. The man looked emotional. Razzan's gaze was red and cynical. “I've asked Inem to report everything that happens here, but she rarely sends me the daily reports I ask for,” Razzan explained.

“I'm sorry, Sir. I admit my mistake.”

The woman continued to follow Razzan to Mahendra's room and told Inem to open the door. Once the door was wide open, Razzan witnessed something he should not have witnessed that morning.

Razzan's eyes widened without flinching when he saw Mahendra and a woman making out in the room. The sound of the door opening distracted both of them including Mahendra who immediately pulled his hand away from the body of the straight-haired woman in front of him.

Without permission, the woman who felt embarrassed to be caught by someone spontaneously left the room quickly.

“Anaya!” screamed Mahendra, as if unwilling to let the woman near him leave. However, Mahendra did not get any response from the woman until she was no longer visible.

“Dad?” greeted Mahendra with a lopsided smile and picked up a shirt from the chair and put it on before approaching his father.

Razzan still had both hands behind his body, reluctant to accept the hand of his son who had come to kiss the back of his hand. “This is what you've been doing all this time. SHAME!” Razzan groaned.

Mahendra pulled his hand back, then looked down with his lips pursed. His saliva was swallowed once and then his breathing sounded half-strong. “Why didn't you say you were coming here?” asked Mahendra.

“This is my house, why did I have to tell you?” Razzan asked back.

“Ops, I forgot that I'm just a lodger here now,” he said quietly and grumbled a little.

“Stop covering up your behaviour. You have to take the punishment for all this insanity!” Razzan's order was no joke.

“What punishment?” Mahendra was shocked to hear this, then whispered to himself, “Usually you tell me your intention of coming-so I'm not surprised. Why are you suddenly hiding like this?” he continued quietly, but his father could still hear his voice.

“I'm also punishing your mum for covering up your crimes, Mahendra,” Razzan replied. Mahendra glared at his father in shock. “You're punishing Mama too?”

“Yes, keep doing bad things and your mum will bear your sins.” Razzan wasn't lying.

Right now his wife was contemplating her wrongdoings in a Quranic hut for a whole month. Razzan asked her to repent for trying to protect his son who was notorious for drinking and womanising.

Razzan's busy business life at home and abroad meant that he was rarely with his family. They did their own things and did not pay attention to each other. His wife also changed her appearance.

When she left, she was still wearing a headscarf, but when she came home, she was dressed in a mini dress. She was influenced by her environment and bad friends.

Razzan was a pious man. He tried to steer his family to the straight path. However, Razzan could not watch over them for 24 hours for 7 days until both of them put on a mask of goodness in front of Razzan and returned to their original nature once he left.

His confidants were silenced by his wife. They were not allowed to report any behaviour of their wife and children to Razzan. Luckily there was one who remained loyal. He was the one who reported it to Razzan.

Moments later Inem packed Mahendra's belongings into a suitcase as per Razzan's orders, then took him to the living room. When Mahendra finished bathing and went to look for his clothes, he was surprised to see that his cupboard was empty.

“Where did my clothes go?” asked Mahendra in confusion. The man came out of the room in his towel kimono and searched for his clothes. Until he saw a suitcase beside his father. “What are you doing?!” he snapped.

“You dare to be angry with me?” Razzan scolded in a big voice.

Mahendra immediately shrank and looked down. He lowered his voice. “I'm looking for my clothes, Daddy,” he said.

“Take them there!” Razzan pointed to the suitcase.

“Why did you put my clothes in the suitcase?” asked Mahendra, crouching down to look for his clothes.

“Your punishment must be carried out. I thought I had left you in a praiseworthy state and capable of taking care of yourselves - but you have strayed far from the teachings of your religion.”

Mahendra hissed at his father's words. “If you were religious, you wouldn't have left us all these years,” he protested.

Razzan snorted in annoyance. “Do you think you left because you wanted to spend money?”

“I don't know-Dad travelled the world and only came back now. I didn't check the contents of your savings account either.” Mahendra fought back and answered everything his father said.

Razzan was furious, pulling the ears of his son who had dared to snatch his parents' words. Mahendra screamed in pain and pleaded with his father to let him go. “Sorry, Dad!” Mahendra said, forced by the pain.

“Daddy's work takes time. Sailing while doing business is not easy. You don't want to continue the family business. You are the only son of the Xaquile family,” Razzan said.

Mahendra took a deep breath. He had no intention of becoming a businessman like his father. There was no freedom and no way to enjoy life. “Just get an adopted son and tell him to take over your job. I'll give it up, as long as you share my wealth.”

That was how Mahendra addressed his own father. Razzan was already furious at his son's ramblings. It was a shame to have such an unreliable son.

“So you want to continue like this? Spending money, playing with women, drinking alcohol and doing things that God forbids?!” Razzan asked.

“That's the path I've chosen, Dad. Don't worry, I can guarantee that you won't go to hell because of me,” he replied risk-taking.

"What are you saying?" Razzan was surprised.
