Ch. 7Holy Crap!

I walked through the grass of a small tree. So far, I haven't found a single house. Is something wrong? Why is there not a single living creature in sight? Is this an abandoned world? Come on, Key! Can't you think of a single rational reason?

I keep thinking of just one rational reason. Oh! Of course! Maybe I'm stuck in the outskirts? Maybe this is an uninhabited area. Earth alone still has many uninhabited places. With that belief, I continued my journey.

After walking for a long time, the grass that resembled a tiny tree turned into another strange grass. It was now an ivory-yellow color with stiff, jagged blades. The grass now had parallel leaf bones.

I furrowed my brow. Thinking, will I get hurt when I touch that grass? Should I even try? After remembering what I had experienced with the birds earlier, I quickly shook my head. No! I won't jeopardize my life.

I turned around to look at the surrounding plants. Finally, I reached into my pocket trying to find something that could help me. I frowned and pulled a fabric from my pocket. It looked like I had brought a handkerchief. Good!

I let go of the handkerchief just above the stiff grass. The handkerchief floated slowly over the grass before landing. I stared at the handkerchief with my heart pounding. Nothing happened, I thought. The handkerchief looked intact without the slightest flaw. Good! Finally, I found something normal in this world.

Just as I was about to take a step, I suddenly noticed something strange about the handkerchief. At the end of the handkerchief, there was a strange brownish spot. It was a plain handkerchief. Where did that spot come from? I had a bad feeling about this. I stepped back slowly.

Just as I took two steps back, the handkerchief suddenly turned brown. Vaguely, I smelled burning. Not long after, the handkerchief began to melt like melted plastic. I gasped in shock.

I looked down at the handkerchief. This was strange! How could the plant burn the handkerchief without fire? Then another surprising thing happened, the melting handkerchief turned into a huge flame soaring 1.5 meters into the air as if ignited by gas. I gulped and turned around. I didn't want to end up like that handkerchief.

I looked at my surroundings in despair. Apparently, Ursa Major was right. Here, I need him. As soon as I thought about it, I quickly pushed my thoughts away. I shook my head quickly. No! I can't give up that quickly. That furry creature is a villain. He's not my helper! He brought me here! To this strange world!

The wind picked up again. I sighed looking at the strange plants. To be honest, all the plants here are strange. Maybe, it's because I've only seen plants like this here. There were no vine trees that I saw earlier.

In the middle of the grass, a plant similar to a lotus appeared. Only, it didn't live in water like in my world. The plant was quite wide with a stem supporting it. I couldn't see whether the stem was strong or not. Was the stem as soft as a lotus stem?

I looked at the strange plant and jumped onto it. The plant was only 1 foot tall. As soon as my feet landed on it, it catapulted me back up. Just like a trampoline!

I crossed over jumping from one lotus to another. At the last lotus, I jumped back to the ground and then let out a long breath. I did it! I survived! If only Ursa Major had seen it!

I walked back through the forest. Suddenly, right in front of me, I saw a sapphire blue light approaching very quickly. I froze, sharpening the focus of my vision. The beam was getting closer. Seconds later, without me realizing it, it crashed into me. I faltered and fell to the ground. The white grass around me flew around like chicken feathers.

Then the beam came closer again. As it got closer, I saw a furry object right in front of me. Its eyes were big and round with small pink lips. Wait a minute! Eyes and a mouth? Was it one of the strange creatures?

I watched the creature closely. It had short blue-black hands and feet. The large eyes blinked a few times. Another furry creature! And wait, it was flying?

"Ruru?"

My forehead crinkled at the sound of that little voice of hers. Oh my, it also has a sweet little voice. This little creature had semi-long fur about 2-3 cm long and 0.5 cm thick just like a doll.

"I don't understand!" I shouted in annoyance. My hand pushed its face away trying to keep it away.

To be honest, I'm sick of furry creatures. Now, wherever I go, there are always furry creatures! Am I being punished?

It floated back in front of me. I glared in annoyance and waved my hand right in front of me. Forcing the furry creature out of my reach. Just like a kitten, it approached me again.

"Stay away!" I shouted.

I cleaned my pajamas of white grass and walked away from the furry ball. After a few steps, I turned around to make sure the furry ball wasn't following me. But, the glowing ball disappeared. So, it was furry and glowing. Like a decorative lamp? I don't know!

The more I walked into the forest, the more strange the plants around me became. The white leaves mixed with green that I saw earlier disappeared and were replaced with blackberry bushes. Strangely, the bushes' leaves were twilight-colored with fruits that gave off multicolored light. Just like neon lights.

I watched my step to see the bushes. The bushes looked very pretty. I wanted to touch the colorful fruit. But, I didn't want anything to happen considering I almost got burned by the strange grass.

From behind me, I heard big, rough steps. Maybe some kind of elephant? But I quickly dismissed my thoughts. Maybe there are no elephants in this world?

As the sound of the creature's steps grew closer, the plants around me trembled with its steps. My footing shook until I lost my balance. I fell forward. I winced.

I looked at my hand. Shit! My hand was bleeding from the fall. I was about to get up, but I felt my leg hurt. My pants were torn and blood was flowing from my knee.

I forced myself to get up. The ground I was standing on was no longer shaking like before. Was that an earthquake? Do earthquakes happen in this world too? I wasn't sure! But, I was moving to clean my dirty pajamas when I heard a roar of breathing right above my head.

I raised my head and was stunned in an instant. My body was frozen. I wanted so badly not to believe what my eyes saw. But, whatever I saw, I don't think my eyes were lying. Holy Crap!
