Ch. 9Chapter 9-Ema

“Wow, there's a little kid in a place like this. What are you looking for?” asked Kety.

“Don't think of me as a child! I am an adult,” she said proudly even though she was still small.

“By the way, sister, my name is Ema, and sister?”

“I'm Kety. Kety Pery.” Kety replied.

“A unique name, yeah. I'm here because I'm working. Is it your sister too?”

“Oh, yeah, that's it.”Such a small child is already working.

What happened to her father and mother?

But if Ema really works, Kety hopes she doesn't do the same thing as eradicating Dark Night.

“Ema, this is a little rude, but what happened to your mom and dad?” Kety decided to ask because of her sense of targeting.

“You're not very curious, yeah. I'll tell you, but this may be a little disgusting, okay?”Kety nodded and smiled.

Ema is 7 years old now, but something happened a year ago.

Ema's family went to the park for a picnic.
It was fine at first, until soon afterward, the man with the pale hair and white skin came in.

“There seems to be someone else. Thank God, if you'd like, would you join us?” Emma's father called him.

The Ema family didn't have any caution at all because, for them, he was just an ordinary person.

“Can I? Thank you,” said the man with the pale face.

As the family came with him to taste the food made by Ema's mother, the pale man suddenly approached her and sniffed something on Ema's mother neck.

***
“He ate Mom, Dad, and my two brothers in front of me,” said Ema, still smiling.

“It'd be better if Emma didn't smile,” said Kety, feeling afraid.
***

Both his sharp eyes, pale skin, and white hair are woven by the red blood of the Ema family.

None of them escaped, but Ema was never touched by the cruel man.

Ema's scared; her two drowned legs couldn't move, and she could only see the shock on her family's bodies.

“Their food is so delicious. Would you like to try it?” Those were the last words that the pale man said before leaving Ema alone.

***

“Disgusting, isn't it? Then the next day, King Edeldan established herself as a criminal,” Ema continued, staring under her feet.

“Eh!? That's impossible! Isn't the king aware of this? But why did he make you a criminal?” Kety says, holding Ema's shoulder tightly.

“I'm sorry, Sister...no, Kety. I'm here to work. But it's okay. Because I'm used to it,” said Ema, smiling.

“Oh, sorry. I've forced you to tell you bad things,” said Kety, until she shed tears little by little.

Ema shook her head as if she didn't mind it and said, “He has pale hair and white skin. Be careful.”

“Ema, where are you? The man you're looking for isn't here,” cried someone who called Ema looking for her.

“Well, Kety, I'm going now.”After that, Emma left.

***

“The man you're looking for, Assassin Romance, is not here. If he comes, I'll tell you again.”

“Then I'll wait here longer.”

Kety, who happened to hear the conversation between them, called Ema back to sit beside her and talk about something related to the Assassin Romance.

Meanwhile, the man we're talking about right now is a florist.

Ash breathed every fragrance of fresh flowers. The sight that he saw was filled with flowers, though a little vague.

“What do I have to buy for the beautiful girl? Yeah, everything looks beautiful, as if I saw herself behind this flower leaf.”

Just like what he sees right now, Ash's heart blossoms as he starts to think of Kety's voice or face.

“Which one does Kety like, huh?”

But he just realized that his rival Acudan was also picking flowers for Kety, and that annoyed him.

“What the hell are you here?” Asked Ash as he wrapped the flower stacks he was holding.

“Hah? Why do I answer you? What are you doing?” asked Acudan calmly.

“I bought flowers. Isn't that obvious! Then, I bought these flowers for Kety, you don't have to get involved.”

“I should have said that! Unlike me, you're nothing, Kety,” said Acudan.

“Not like you? You're just her friend. I should be the one who deserves to give her flowers.”

“Maybe now we're just friends, but maybe after I gave her flowers, it must have been different again,” Acudan said proudly.

“What? Don't be arrogant, boy! Let's see whose flowers Kety will receive,” said the Assassin so furiously that his brow furrowed.

“Oh, that's fine! Who's afraid? You or I will be the one she chooses, and if I win, stop bothering Kety and get off!” Acudan replied, staring at him angrily.

The two argued again, and the flower seller's was astonished and shook her heads. Not only did she, but everyone who passed the street near the florist noticed their behavior and thought it was crazy.

“If you love her, then why let her get involved with this, assassin romance?”

Acudan is a little reluctant to ask him; he knows that asking this is like interfering in his business, but Acudan increasingly suspects what the Assassin Romance is doing because that's why he asks.

“Didn't I tell you before that I wanted to honor her wishes?” replied Ash, who then took a bunch of Lily's flowers in front of him.

“What is Kety's wish? But if she doesn't want me to know...”

“Kety said, she wanted to know what caused the Dark Night and why her parents were killed, but I don't think so.” Ash said.

“So?”

“I think she wanted to take revenge for both her parents being killed at the time,” he thought.

“Hey, next time don't talk about Kety's mom and dad when you're in front of her. Otherwise, he will be traumatized.” Acudan warned.

Inside the Mercenary Guild, Kety sat and talked with Ema. Even though their relationship has just been formed, they seem like sisters.

“Assassin Romance is the one that really attracts the attention of women.” Kety said.

“Eh, it turns out to be true. I thought it was just a little rumor; I didn't think the guy was dating women all over the city,” said Emma, amazed.

Ema's habit is to always scratch her back under the table when she starts talking. For Kety, it was unique.

“Ha ha ha! Isn't that right? So don't be interested in him when you meet him, okay?”

“Kety, understands everything about him. Oh, maybe you're one of his girlfriends,” thought Ema, without any word at all, and Kety was embarrassed, and she told her to stop talking like that.

“You looked really happy when you talked about that man,” said Ema, pursing her lips.

“Eh, but that's... I'm just telling a story,” said Kety with a whimper.

“I envy you who are close to Assassin Romance. I so want to meet him,” Emma muttered, and again she scratched the back of her hand, but this time a little faster.

“Hm...”

The hand of a soldier sitting next to Ema was suddenly cut, and blood began to come out profusely, and the soldier began to scream in pain.

“Ouch, it's getting more trouble, huh?” Ema said with a smile. She raised her hand.

Ema's fingernails are so long, and they're bloody all the way to her arm.

“I can't hold it anymore. I'm sorry, Kety.”

For a moment, Kety was just staring at something sharp approaching a soldier who had just passed behind, and Emma's hands were bleeding.

"Did she do it? But Emma's hurt too, and then who did it?" Kety's mind felt uneasy.

“Kety, do you hear me?”

Kety realized something: Ema was talking at the moment without scratching her back as usual.

“ "Meat is delicious. Eat with me." Do you remember this part of my story?” asked Emma.

Soldiers and criminals are starting to point weapons toward Ema, but Ema still talks loosely with Kety.

“Girl, get out of there! She's dangerous!” cried one of the soldiers.

But Kety couldn't move or speak. Now she remembers something that Ash said to her when she saw the present Emma.
