Ch. 23MY FAVORITE CHARACTER

When I arrived at Sarah's apartment, Sarah who seemed to not have time to take a shower, greeted me with a smile that looked lethargic. Her face looks pale without makeup, and I'm sure she stayed up all night.

I looked around the room quickly. This is the first time I've seen Sarah's apartment so cluttered. Usually she is never slovenly and sloppy like this. I'm pretty sure Sylvia's problems really messed Sarah up.

Sarah's suitcase was still at the end of her room. I'm pretty sure he didn't even unpack the contents of his suitcase.

"Did you just wake up or did you not sleep?"I asked directly when barging into her apartment without waiting for an invitation.

Sarah smiled as she closed the door. "I just woke up after finally going to bed at about half past ten."

I glanced at the clock on her living room wall. That means Sarah's only slept for about three hours. "Oh my God, Sarah, don't torture yourself like this!"I said as I put the grocery bag containing a variety of fresh fruits and bread that I bought on the way to her apartment. "You haven't eaten yet, have you?"I asked, opening the refrigerator door. I usually treat Sarah's house like my own, and vice versa. Luckily I stopped by and did some shopping before heading to Sarah's apartment.

Sarah shook her head, then pulled a chair at the dining table opposite the refrigerator, as she began to check the contents of my shopping bags. She took an Apple, rubbed it quickly on her pajamas, then took a bite. Luckily, I had made sure the fruits were washed clean at the store before, because I knew Sarah's habit of eating fruit without making sure it was clean.

"Shall I make some special fried rice?"I checked the ingredients in the fridge.

"Hmm, that would be good. I haven't eaten since I landed last night."

"Can't eat on the plane?"I asked while removing the ingredients to make a special fried rice.

"I can, but I didn't have an appetite because of Sylvia. My appetite and mood were completely destroyed."Sarah sighed a long breath, then put the Apple that was out of shape neatly. This time, she grabbed the bread I'd bought—her favorite kind of snack. I know for sure, Sarah tends to think eating isn't important, so I always bring food for her.

"What upsets you?"I asked as I chuckled watching her eat with gusto.

"I wonder why the food you bring me is always so tempting. It's like ... The food you bring is more special, " Sarah continued talking with a chuckle.

"You look like you haven't eaten in forever, how'd you want your fried rice?"

"Oh right, please make the fried rice a little spicy, spicy food would ease my headache a bit."

"Of course. I'll make a special fried rice that no one can beat" I said as I began to mix the ingredients and cut the sausage and meatballs. Sarah's kitchen is open and integrated with the dining room to make all cooking activities clearly visible.

"Have you taken care of your work leave plan?" Sarah asked, making me turn my head for a moment before returning to focus on cooking.

"I did. Thanks to Vivian's help, " I replied with a smile, remembering the incident earlier in Wonderland, if it wasn't for Vivian's help, I might still be busy filing for my annual leave. I suddenly remembered the advice given by Vivian regarding the message sent by Mr. B that since last night confused me. I suddenly smiled unconsciously.

"Why are you smiling, El?" Sarah looked at me surprised. "Don't let the fried rice burn!"

I immediately realized that I was cooking fried rice for Sarah.
"Take it easy. I'm a professional, " I said while stirring fried rice. "You eat that bread first, the fried rice will be finished soon."

A little later, the aroma of fried rice began to fill the kitchen. "El, you should just take a cooking course, be a good chef," Sarah said when she saw me busy plating.

"I went to college because I was bored. You know why I signed up for college, right? Just idle and bored."

Sarah laughed. "You sure you won't be bored after college?"

"Honestly, I'm not a hundred percent sure, but at least trying new things can stimulate creativity. I hope that college will give me new challenges that can hone my way of thinking, so my life won't be boring anymore."

Sarah just chuckled hearing what I just said, then began to enjoy the fried rice that I served. "Your fried rice is top notch!" She said with praise.

After the meal, Sarah lazed around on the sofa. "El, I feel dizzy when I remember about Sylvia. But I'll try to calm down."

"For now, let your underlings take care of that Sylvia problem. Don't stress it," I advise.

"Yeah, let's just forget about it for a while. Then when do you start college?"

"Monday." I replied as I changed the television channel to my favorite show.

"What a player you are... Freshman, huh!" Sarah teased me, but was suddenly surprised when I cheered hysterically to see one of my favorite anime characters appear on the screen. "Oh, my God El, Why Are you still watching cartoons?"

"This is anime! Not cartoon!"I corrected.

"Haha, it's the same, that's why you never find a mate, no wonder, your taste is fictional men!" Sarah continued to tease me, but finally came to sit and watch with me.

"Do not underestimate them, even if they are fiction. At least they never made me disappointed and sad."I'm trying to defend my favorite anime character.

After a while we watched, Sarah seemed to really enjoy the show.

"El, I never thought those anime you watch would actually have a nice story," she commented. I smiled contentedly because at least, this could help her forget about the problem for a moment. As a friend, I don't want Sarah to get sick because of Sylvia's problems.
