Ch. 41Ken's suspicions

"You seem to have misunderstood, Indra. I-"

"Put down whatever you're hiding and get out of my room," Indra ordered firmly. "I don't want any more misunderstandings with you."

Indra made a face full of anger towards the woman before him, a strange guest he had never expected at all. Even Indra couldn't get over the fact that Sonia kept acting up in his life.

However, instead of obeying Indra's orders... Sonia shot Indra a wry glare, it seemed the woman wasn't scared in the least.

"You've really changed, Indra. How dare you shout at me?" Sonia squeaked.

Indra then exhaled harshly, "I told you I'm not my old self anymore, nor am I yours anymore. So behave yourself before I go any further."

Sonia chuckled, "How can you? Remember, Indra, we still have an agreement, and you can't treat me as you wish, or-"

"Pft!" Indra suddenly grinned at Sonia's ramblings, "Is that the only weapon you have to threaten me?"

Sonia fell silent, astonished at Indra's sudden response. She hadn't expected this because he had always bowed and lost when she brought up the deal they had made.

As Indra grinned at Sonia's slight flinch at his outburst, he was pleased that he could turn the tables so easily.

"Gotcha!" she muttered to herself. "You think we can use the same weapon?"

Indra took another step towards Sonia and grabbed an object that Sonia had hidden when the woman was caught off guard. Sonia gasped as Indra took the object by force.

The man grinned again when he realized that the object that had been hidden and almost destroyed by his ex-girlfriend was a picture frame of his wedding with Dinda.

"What a waste," he said as he put the picture frame back in its place and looked back at Sonia standing in front of him with a glare. "Don't you just say your request without disturbing me?"

Sonia regained her composure and smiled sarcastically, "It won't be that easy, Indra. You know I still want you very much, so why would I waste an opportunity to get close to you?"

Without hesitation, the woman now pressed her body closer, trying to tempt Indra back with touches that began to explore the body of a man she should not touch. But...

SLAP!

With a single move, Indra managed to parry and knock Sonia's hand away from her body, even as she hurried to distance herself from the woman.

"You!" Indra gave Sonia a sharp look. "I told you—"

Knock, knock, knock!

Indra's speech stopped, and he glared at the door along with Sonia.

"Sorry, sir. Can I come in?" There was a baritone voice from behind the door. Indra breathed a sigh of relief because it turned out that what he heard was the voice of his assistant and not someone else, let alone his father-in-law.

Indra didn't answer, instead, he looked back at Sonia sternly.

"I don't want to know anymore, Sonia. Go and meet me at lunchtime. We need to straighten something out," he ordered coldly.

"Straighten something out?" Sonia gave Indra a scornful look, knowing that Indra was not happy with the situation.

"Leave if you still want to live in peace," she ordered again.

Indra's arrogant behavior infuriated Sonia, but she had no choice as his threats sounded serious.

Chuckling in annoyance, Sonia said, "Alright, I'll wait for you at the usual place."

Sonia then walked with rough steps out of the room, opened the door rudely, and squinted at the man who had interrupted her time with Indra.

Finding Sonia's behavior surprising, the man raised his eyebrows as he muttered, "What's wrong with that woman? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Come in..." Indra's voice again broke Ken's silence. He shook his head, trying to get rid of the strange thoughts about the woman who had just passed him, and then began to enter the room and approached his superior, who was already sitting in a chair with a grim face.

Ken certainly felt curious about the woman's figure, in his mind there were also several questions he wanted to ask, but he deliberately canceled them because it would certainly make Indra's mood even more chaotic and even turn angry at him.

"Would you like some coffee? I'll order some for you." The offer finally came out of Ken's mouth.

After working together with his new boss, Ken finally understood Indra's nature little by little. He even knew a bit about how to break the ice when Indra suddenly put on a grim face like the one he was currently wearing.

Yes! As expected, Indra immediately accepted the offer, even though his face still looked upset.

"There seems to be something about that woman that makes her like this, again and again... does Madame Dinda know about it?" Ken wondered to himself.

Ken was silent, he realized that the incident experienced by his superior did not only happen once but repeatedly, making his curiosity arise, but he did not immediately tell Anggoro, the figure who had warned him to always keep an eye on the movements of his son-in-law.

With a long sigh, Ken thought to himself, "I swore to obey the leadership, but just this once... I'll make sure of everything first."

The atmosphere of the workspace was not too bad. Indra continued to carry out some of his work carefully even though his mood had not improved, especially since he kept thinking about what actions he had to take to make Sonia deterrent and no longer bother him.

As daylight came, Indra immediately tidied up his desk, which was a little scattered because of some files, and only then did he leave his room to meet Sonia as previously planned.

Just as he was leaving his room, a message suddenly arrived.

["Don't forget your promise, Indra, I'm waiting for you at the café."]

Indra chuckled as he read the message from his ex-girlfriend and put his mobile phone back in his pocket without replying.

"Are you going out for lunch, sir?" asked Ken, who happened to see his boss coming out of his room.

Indra, who was a little surprised by the appearance of her assistant and secretary, quickly replied, "Ah, yes. I'm having lunch outside."

"Should I accompany you?" offered Ken kindly.

But Indra shook her head and smiled, "No, I won't be long. I also have a lunch appointment with someone."

Ken nodded in understanding, "Alright, be careful on the road."

After finishing his conversation with his assistant, Indra rushed into the lift, at that moment, his cellphone rang again, indicating an incoming call. He was naturally furious because he thought the call was from Sonia.

But the frown on his forehead immediately turned back when he saw the name displayed on his mobile phone screen.

"Dinda?"
