"Am I disturbing you?" asked Indra as he walked over to his future wife's desk.
Dinda shook her head slowly with a small smile. "Not really, I've already finished some files."
"Thank goodness..." Indra readjusted his sitting position, looking like the man was fretting as if he wanted to say something.
As she narrowed her eyes, Dinda asked again, "Do you have something to say?"
Bathump!
Dinda was really good at reading situations, and Indra's slightly suspicious behavior certainly succeeded in making Dinda's curiosity begin to emerge, especially since she herself also had something to talk about with the man who would become the Imam in her future.
With some hesitation, Indra continued to take a deep breath and then tried to catch it. His mind seemed to be busy stringing together words to sound comfortable to the woman sitting in front of him while focusing his eyes on her, waiting for what he wanted to say.
"What exactly is Indra thinking about? Why isn't he talking?" Dinda wondered.
But the next minute, Indra cleared his throat and began to say, "When I came back from outside, I accidentally met Sonia in the lobby."
Dinda was stunned when Indra said that, previously, Dinda would not have guessed that Indra would cross paths with Sonia, considering Indra's work lately was more outside the office because of his father's orders. But that assumption was immediately dispelled.
Dinda tried to control herself so as not to look panicked. "Ah! I see, yes... Then what did he say? Did he ask you for something?"
Indra squinted, looking a little surprised by Dinda's question.
"Ask for something?" he wondered. "Is it possible that her purpose in coming here was to ask for something?"
Indra's mind was instantly filled with several assumptions. Not wanting to prejudge too much, Indra immediately returned to the question that kept bothering him.
"Let me guess, did she ask you for something?" Indra raised one eyebrow and said, "Ah! That's not it. Did that woman start collecting on our deal? The one that just went through yesterday?" Indra confirmed it with a slightly raised tone of voice.
It made Dinda startle, hearing some of Indra's angry outbursts.
"Why is he like this? Why the angry look on his face?" Dinda continued to ask inwardly without being revealed.
Not wanting to make Indra surmise anything more, Dinda confidently nodded her head. "Yes, he just asked me for something, as a first step to collect the promise of our agreement."
"What did he ask for?" asked Indra hurriedly, impatient with the answer his wife-to-be had to give.
However, instead of answering immediately, Dinda was silent for a while. She didn't want to provoke Indra's anger, which would certainly provoke a big problem that would make them lose money.
Dinda then looked at Indra's face, which was filled with curiosity but mixed with worry. Anxious about Sonia's request that would burden him.
"So, what?" Indra asked the question again, growing impatient as his curiosity continued to peak.
Until, with a long sigh, Dinsa finally opened her mouth. "She asked for a place to stay."
"What!?" Indra was stunned, so much so that the man got up from the back of his chair with his eyes bulging in disbelief.
But in an instant, Dinda nodded her head again and clarified her words, "Yes, he asked for a place to live. Is it a rental, a house, or an apartment? He didn't specify."
For a moment, Indra seemed to go limp, his body weakening and leaning back against the shoulder of the chair. Her long sighs were proof that she was completely unaware of what her former lover had done.
"Haaa ... I knew it wouldn't be easy. He won't leave me and Dinda alone," she muttered to herself, not daring to reveal it to Dinda because she didn't want her to feel burdened.
Indra massaged his head and said again, "Her nature really never changes, always wanting something big. She's still a materialistic woman."
Dinda immediately narrowed her eyes. "You mean... materialistic?" she asked for confirmation.
Indra then nodded his head, confirming Dinda's guess. His long exhale indicated that he was tired of Sonia's behavior, whether she was a lover or not.
"Even though I was traveling to the capital, she would always call me and whine about sending me money to buy what she wanted, even though we were still dating and we didn't have any future plans for our relationship."
Dinda knitted her eyebrows again, surprised by Sonia's behavior, which seemed to want Indra so badly. Before she could comment, Indra continued.
"She also often asks me to propose to her soon, even though I myself don't have anything yet, while her father is a cattle rancher in the village.
With a sad look on his face, Indra continued to tell her all the things that happened to his relationship with Sonia, along with some things related to their relationship that ran aground because of a third person, but Sonia still insisted on staying and would not let Indra go.
Dinda then frowned. "Why won't she? Isn't she the one who cheated on you?"
But Indra shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. "I don't know, I don't really understand... since then, he's still chasing me even though the relationship with her new boyfriend fell apart. My little sister in the village said he often comes to the house, brings food, or helps with the housework. She doesn't know what the risks are if her father finds out about his daughter's behavior."
The more I listened carefully, the more uncomfortable I felt. Yes! Dinda seemed rueful to hear Indra's story about Sonya's behavior towards her. It could even be said that the woman deliberately stalked Indra's life in order to get back hers.
As she sighed, Dinda said, "I understand. If I were in your position, I'd be uncomfortable too, and I'd probably ask the police for help, or not. I'd deter her and stop bothering me."
That was easy to do, but not for Indra. Because if he dared to mess with or hurt Sonia, It was not impossible that the woman's father would do something to her family, who lived in the same village.
Hearing that, Dinda became even more lost in thought and scratched her head, which suddenly felt itchy.
"Sorry... I really didn't expect it to be like this, if I may, I will negotiate with him to change his request," Indra said.
Dinda narrowed her gaze and then asked, "You mean?"
"I'll ask her to change it and not ask anything strange. I-"
"No need," Dinda interrupted, cutting Indra off. "I've found a solution, my employees will take care of everything."
Indra gasped, "M-meaning you?"
Dinda nodded again and replied, "I've already found a place for him to live, so you don't have to bother going to see him. I'm also sure he won't change his request."
Indra then looked down, too embarrassed by what Dinda had prepared. On the other hand, he also felt guilty about the current situation.
"In that case, sorry," he said, followed by his head lowering even further.
"Sorry?" Dinda knitted her eyebrows again, looking surprised by Indra's words, "Sorry for what?"
"I'm sorry that Sonia's behavior has made you uncomfortable," Indra explained.
For a moment, Dinda seemed to let out a long breath. Why did she feel uncomfortable hearing Indra's request?
She then chuckled, "I wonder nowadays why people are so willing to make requests for others when they themselves have done nothing wrong."
