"What is she doing here?" thought Dinda with halting steps. "Does she want to ask me for something?"
Then the woman took another step, just as Sonia turned her head and flashed a fake smile at her. Of course, Dinda returned the smile, even with a mind full of enigma and prejudice.
"Well, whatever it is, I'd better take her to my room first, I don't want her to say anything about my marriage to Indra later."
With a face that was forced to be radiant, Dinda then welcomed the arrival of a guest that she had not even invited at all.
"Hi! How are you?" She greeted Dinda in a friendly manner.
Sonia got up from her seat and replied, "I'm fine. Sorry for coming without telling you first. But-"
"Ah! It's okay. I haven't been there long either," Dinda interrupted as if deliberately cutting Sonia off. "Then, let's go to my room. There, we can talk more freely."
"Hmm? Okay." Sonia then followed Dinda, who started walking towards the lift.
Although, as they walked, Sonia felt surprised by Dinda's greeting, she certainly accepted her invitation, even though something was bothering her.
"Oh, I see... so she's scared of me talking about 'it' here?" She asked herself. Sonia then grinned with a sardonic smile. "Interesting too..."
As for Dinda?
With her doubts haunting her, she decided to invite Sonia to her private study. In a rather tense atmosphere, Dinda tried to open the conversation.
"Sit down, Sonia. Do you have something to say?" Dinda said, trying to overcome her confusion.
"Usually guests are treated to something when they arrive, or are the people here not very relaxed?" chirped Sonia in a sarcastic tone.
Dinda, who didn't expect to hear those words, was so shocked that she froze in place, the frown on her forehead indicating that she was starting to feel a bad vibe in the room.
"Shit! You're an uninvited guest!" She cursed to herself, "Tsk! Besides, I didn't mean for you to be like this."
Dinda's mind was certainly occupied with the several swear words she had thrown at Sonia, but behind that, Dinda was forced to suppress her discomfort and try to be nicer in front of Sonia.
"Ah, sorry! I forgot to offer us a drink, understandably... I've had a lot of craziness lately," Dinda said as she placed her palm on her head.
It sounded normal, but Dinda was actually signaling that she was very busy and didn't want to talk to Sonia for too long.
Sonia then sighed with an uncomfortable look on her face. "Anything, as long as it's drinkable and there's no poison."
"Hmm? What is she talking about?" Dinda muttered to herself, really, this morning she had been very annoyed by the presence of the uninvited guest.
Dinda smiled again and pressed the speed dial button on her office phone, "Please bring two cups of hot tea to my room, immediately!"
With a deep sigh, Dinda resumed her seat and faced Sonia, who was now circulating her gaze, busily observing the entire large, luxurious room according to her.
I don't know what was going through the woman's mind when her eyes kept scrutinizing every piece of furniture in there.
Meanwhile, Dinda, who saw the behavior, could only mutter, "Ah, how clumsy."
Dinda ignored the situation until a cleaning service brought a tray with two cups of hot tea. As the cleaning service placed the two cups on the table, she glanced at Sonia out of the corner of her eye. Dinda understood what the man was thinking.
"Thank you; you may leave," Dinda said to the cleaning service, which was followed by a nod and then passed.
Dinda knew very well that the cleaning service was thinking something about the unknown woman in her room.
"They will definitely gossip again," she muttered to herself. Then Dinda shook her head and said, "Never mind, whatever. I'd better listen to what this guy wants first."
Dinda then cleared her throat and managed to make Sonia blink. "Alright, what do you want to talk to me about?" she asked then.
Sonia smiled, but her expression remained mysterious. "Hmm, you don't like small talk, apparently."
Dinda just smiled without answering. Yes! Because she thought those words were enough to explain her current situation.
With a long sigh, Sonua then fixed her sitting position and said again, "I think you already know what I'm here for, don't you?"
Dinda remained silent, although in her mind she had already made some conjectures. She chose to remain silent and hear for herself what the purpose of Sonia's arrival was from her own mouth.
"Well, I'm actually facing a big challenge here. Life in the capital is so stressful and demanding. I need support, and I'm sure you can help."
Dinda listened attentively, but Sonia's pleasantries were unexpectedly convoluted.
"Tsk! Wouldn't it be better if she just said it directly? I am not beating around the bush like this." Dinda grumbled while continuing to control herself.
"What do you mean?" asked Dinda in a slightly sarcastic tone.
Sonia then recounted the burden of her life, expressing her exhaustion and confusion. About how she came from the countryside to the capital—something that absolutely no one expected.
"I actually ran away from home because my father intended to set me up with a man I didn't like," Sonia said, which made Dinda blink.
"What?" Dinda immediately raised both eyebrows. "Matching up?"
Before she could answer, a conjecture suddenly crossed Dinda's mind, "Ah! Did she originally intend to catch up with Indra and ask him for help because of this? No way, right?"
Although it sounded very convincing, there was something nagging at the back of the young pregnant woman's mind.
"So, what can I do for you?" asked Dinda.
Sonia, without further ado, immediately asked Dinda, "Hmm, can you give me a comfortable place to stay while I'm in the capital? I really don't know where else to go; if I stay with Indra, it will definitely mess up your relationship."
Dinda was surprised to hear the request, but she tried to remain calm. Despite feeling that Sonia's request was too big, Dinda tried to think further about how she could help without putting too much of a of a burden on herself.
"Ah, a place to stay, yes." Dinda fell silent, her mind instantly spinning.
Already feeling that sooner or later Sonia would seek her out to collect the promise of their agreement, Dinda pondered for a moment. She realized that the time had come to face the responsibilities they had agreed upon.
Sonia told her story with great sadness, a look on her face that reflected the heavy burden she was facing. She tries to convince Dinda to trust her and grant her request in the hope that Dinda can sense her urgency and need.
Although Sonia was very convincing, Dinda seemed hesitant and was weighing up what decision she would make. She was afraid that Sonia would interfere with her wedding plans with Indra.
In her uncertainty, Dinda tried to maintain a balance between empathy for Sonia's condition and consideration for her own life plans. She felt trapped between two difficult choices, looking for a way out that did not harm either party.
"What do you think? Is my request too much?" asked Sonia with a pitying look on her face.
The woman continued to persuade and spoke words that were pleasing to Dinda's ears. She touched on their agreement, reminding her that Dinda and Indra had agreed to grant her every request. An implicit threat came from Sonia, if it was not fulfilled, she would reveal the fake marriage plan between Dinda and Indra to the public, including Anggoro, Dinda's father.
Dinda, who realized this, immediately felt a little furious!
"Oh! What is this? Is she trying to blackmail me?" she wondered.
