Dusk turned to night, but that night the streets seemed deserted, and only a few motorists passed by on the main road, including a public transport that was carrying several passengers, one of whom was Indra.
The man stared at his mobile phone, which only showed the home screen without any messages displayed. But somehow, he felt strange at that moment. He then let out a long breath that felt heavy.
"She already has my number, but why didn't she call me and ask about what happened earlier?" he wondered, "Should I have started contacting her?"
Indra was silent for a while, as if thinking about something that suddenly filled his mind. Then he chuckled, "Ah! Is she angry, huh?"
The indecision immediately attacked his brain, although logically, he did not have to think that far, especially if Dinda was only going to be his temporary wife.
Yes! It should be so, but his heart said otherwise because right now Indra really felt guilty towards Dinda. He kept rubbing his face, trying to control himself, but failed. The guilt kept attacking him until he didn't realize that the public transport he was traveling in was already in the vicinity of his residence.
Indra then blinked in an effort to wake up, seeing an area that was very familiar to him, namely a building that was lined up and fenced with black iron that made him gasp and say, "A-ah! Please stop ahead, Sir!" He unconsciously raised his voice too much to make the other passengers look at him with surprised eyes.
Indra, who realized this, smiled in apology and got out of the car.
At first, everything seemed normal after the man paid the fare and then walked into his rented area, but at that moment, his eyes widened at the sight of a woman sitting on a brick barrier located right in front of his rented area.
In that instant, Indra narrowed her eyes and slowed her pace while muttering, "Sonia?"
I don't know what dream he had last night to experience such a heavy thing as having to meet again with the woman who had been his lover in the village. Yes! Indra was really tired of all the things about his past. That was another reason why he had traveled to the capital and rarely returned to his village.
From afar, Sonia seemed to have noticed the arrival of the tenant and waved at him. Of course, with a sweet but cynical smile. Indra just snorted and didn't really care.
"Where have you been? I've been waiting here for a long time," greeted Sonia attentively.
But Indra, who had set foot on the floor of the rented house, was silent and looked at Sonia with a look of indifference. Even the next minute, Indra took out a key from his pocket and immediately unlocked the door of the house without paying the slightest attention to Sonia.
This then made Sonia furious, causing her to get unpleasant treatment from her former lover. Because even though the relationship between the two had ended a long time ago, Sonia's feelings were still the same as before. Yes! The woman also expects the same from the man who is currently right in front of her eyes.
Sonia then chuckled and cursed to herself, "Tsk! I came all the way here and spent all my money, but what did I get? He's still rude to me."
Not wanting to miss the golden opportunity, just as Indra opened the door and entered it, Sonia quickly moved to follow the man who walked into the rented house. Immediately, Indra was shocked at the woman's behavior.
His eyes rounded perfectly and he said, "What are you?"
Indra's words were cut short when the woman suddenly pushed her body slightly and then closed the door and even locked it. It was a reckless but fatal action that made Indra furious, to the point of wanting to slam the woman.
But Sonia, who saw Indra's anger, certainly did not feel afraid, in fact, she did not hesitate to grin as if she did not feel guilty.
"Why you don't like me being here?" said Sonia, who then walked over and sat on a chair.
The woman, without feeling the slightest embarrassment, laid herself down on the small chair, as if the house were hers. As for Indra? Finding his ex-girlfriend's behavior even more upsetting, he couldn't think of anything else.
He was already tired from all the preparations for his wedding with Dinda, and Sonia's sudden presence and return to pester him certainly irritated him to the point of exhaustion.
Indra exhaled roughly and rubbed her face, trying to contain her anger. "Go home, Sonia. You shouldn't be like this. What if people see and get suspicious?"
"Come on, Indra. I've come all the way here, and I'm tired. Don't you feel sorry for me?" Sonia whimpered.
"But we're not husband and wife!" snapped Indra, suddenly raising his tone. But in that instant, she fell silent, realizing that she might have been too harsh, and she snorted in annoyance, "You should know that I'm still a normal man, you should take care of yourself."
Too annoyed and tired, Indra finally gave up and turned her back on him. "Suit yourself!"
The man simply ignored Sonia's presence in his rented house; he didn't want to bother with all the neighbors who might talk badly about him tomorrow or the day after, and so on.
Sonia, on the other hand, ignored Indra's words and remained silent while closing her eyes as if enjoying the comfort she felt. But in the next minute, Sonia's eyes began to open, and she saw Indra, who had walked away from her.
Sonia raised her head slightly with her gaze fixed on Indra's retreating back as she muttered, "Tsk! You're the one who should be careful of me because you left me behind and traveled without coming back."
As for Indra? The man lay down on the bed in his room while staring at the ceiling, his mind in turmoil because today's events were completely beyond his prediction.
The rough breathing he did continuously signaled his deep confusion. He was now confused by the existence of his ex-girlfriend, which would certainly disrupt the wedding plan between Dinda and him.
Not wanting to be dragged further into that thought, Indra decided to close his eyes, trying to forget everything, even if only for a moment, but...
"Tch! What the hell!?" Indra blinked his eyes again and got up. "Why can't I sleep!?"
Yes! Instead of falling asleep due to stubborn fatigue, he was wide awake again. Because his mind, which had been filled with several things about today's events, apparently managed to overcome his sleepiness.
At that moment, the door of the room suddenly opened and succeeded in making Indra surprised again.
