Dinda was still silent in front of the stairs after she descended the last step, her eyes not blinking even when she saw the man who would become her husband in the coming days in the living room with her father, exchanging greetings and talking a little. But the centercenter of her attention now was the middle-aged woman sitting next to Indra.
Dinda looked deeply at the woman and asked herself, "Who is that?"
In the middle of his reverie, Anggoro suddenly turned his head towards the back and saw his son, son, who was just silent, silent, where he stood.
"Ah! Dinda? Why are you silent?" Anggoro frowned.. "Shouldn't you greet your future husband and future in-laws?"
Instantly, Dinda's eyes widened at the statement her father had just uttered.
"Future in-laws?" Dinda guessed again in her heart, heart, as if she couldn't quite believe what she had just heard.
However, instead of being lost in thought,, Dinda quickly blinked her eyes, eyes, trying to wake up from her self-created imagination. The woman shook her head in a quick motion and then replied, "A-ah! Yes, Pa..."
Dinda then walked to the living room and sat next to her father.. At that moment, she realized that Indra's gaze had only been on her, just silent with his deep gaze staring at the woman in front of him.
Yes! Who would have thought that Indra was mesmerized by his future wife's appearance tonight? And unexpectedly, a small grin then appeared on the face of the man, who now looked no less attractive in a long-sleeved shirt, even though he borrowed it from Mrs. Heni's son.
"It's beautiful..." Those were the words that came to Indra's mind. "But do I deserve it?"
"Indra?"
That one call didn't necessarily wake Indra up from his reverie, she just stayed silent with a million thoughts. Until Dinda waved her hand in Indra's face again and called his name a little louder, and Mrs. Heni tried to elbow Indra's arm.
"Indra!" whispered Mrs. Heni, waking Indra to blink.
Indra tried to pull himself together and said, "S-sorry, I was just-" His words were cut short when the man turned his head to the side to look at Mrs. Heni. "A-ah! I-introduce... this is my mom."
Mrs. Heni then smiled warmly at Dinda as she extended her hand. "Nice to meet you. And... sorry for all the mess that happened because of my son."
Dinda, who returned Mrs. Heni's smile, welcomed the hand and greeted her, not forgetting to kiss the back of her hand as a token of respect for her future mother-in-law. But the atmosphere suddenly felt awkward after Mrs. Heni's last words.
Yes! The entire living room was silent, and the owner of the house, Anggoro, was no exception. The man stared intently at Mrs. Heni and then turned to Indra as if to show his discomfort.
Dinda, who had noticed the atmosphere, was about to change the subject but was stopped in her tracks when Anggoro cleared his throat and began to say, "Yes, nice to meet you. Then... let's move to the dining room since the food is ready."
Anggoro immediately turned and walked away after inviting his guests to sample the dishes that had been served, but Dinda and Indra were silent for a moment as they exchanged glances, implying that both of them were feeling a little awkward after the conversation a few moments ago. Even as Mrs. Heni began to walk after Anggoro, Dinda and Indra exhaled a long breath simultaneously.
"Ah... I apologize if she made you uncomfortable. I-"
"It's okay, relax," Dinda responded suddenly. "But, is she your mother?" she asked, raising her eyebrows in curiosity.
But Indra quickly shook his head and looked around the living room area to make sure that no one was eavesdropping on the conversation. Dinda, who noticed it, immediately snapped, "Ah! Let's discuss it another time. Now eat first before Papa waits too long."
Indra nodded his understanding and complied, even though in his heart he was very embarrassed in front of his future wife and future in-laws because Mrs. Heni's behavior was completely beyond his prediction.
Yes! Even now, in the dining room, Mrs. Heni continues to act like a familiar face to everyone in the house, including Anggoro. Daru began to praise the cooking with a bit of exaggeration, Dinda's appearance, and finally Anggoro's appearance, which of course made the atmosphere even more uncontrollable, making Indra want to disappear from the face of the earth.
"Gosh! I thought all this would go smoothly, but it didn't. It looks like I brought the wrong person," he muttered to himself.
However, the situation wasn't all that complicated because it was enough to make Dinda's smile widen as Mrs. Heni's behavior and Indra's attempts to remind her had a funny side. Even so, Indra still felt embarrassed and kept his head down with an occasional smile to cover his embarrassment.
The situation continued until dinner started, and in the middle of it, Anggoro again expressed his intentions for the meeting. While clearing his throat, the middle-aged man began to say, "All right. Thank you for being willing to honor this dinner invitation. I am very happy to finally meet my future in-laws and have a chat."
Dinda knew exactly what Anggoro meant when he heard those last words. But she tried not to pay too much attention to it and just smiled kindly in front of everyone.
"So, Dinda and Indra's wedding will be held in a few days, without a proposal, and before that, they will be busy with some preparations before the akad and reception," Anggoro said slowly. "Does Mrs. Heni have any other suggestions?" he asked, turning to Mrs. Heni, who looked a little surprised.
How could she not be? The woman certainly felt jolted because, of course, she didn't know anything about the wedding because Indra didn't give her anything to say beforehand.
Sensing the situation, Indra quickly racked his brains and said, "Ah! I'm sorry, I haven't had a chance to tell my mom much because it's so sudden. So we decided to leave everything to her and will follow your family's plan."
"Is that so? I thought you might want something else for your wedding," Anggoro said. "But that's good, so we don't have to worry about preparing anything else and focus on our plans."
Anggoro's demeanor was now cold and seemed a little uncomfortable, and he kept staring at Indra as if he wanted to devour him like a wild tiger.
Indra realized this and tried to behave better, even though his heart was beating wildly.
"It's like being in the middle of a tiger cage," he muttered to himself.
