Rara awoke in a weakened state, her face pale from the night. Rafael locked her in the shed.
"I'm thirsty..." Rara said weakly as she tried to get up.
A miracle happened when a maid opened the cellar door and brought a tray of food.
"Miss." The maid put the tray down immediately and helped Rara to sit up.
"Miss is very weak, let's drink." The servant took the tray and helped Rara to drink. What a disaster for her employer. No one dared to disobey Rafael's orders.
Rara smiled weakly. "Thank you for helping me, you don't have to come in, what if the master finds out?"
A feeling of awe and emotion washed over me. How could Miss Rara, even in her weakened state, still think of others?
"Miss, there's no need to worry, we already have permission to take Miss out."
Rara refused when the servant tried to help her up. "You've helped me enough with the glass of water, it's okay. Just go out."
Rara didn't want the same fate to befall anyone who worked in Rafael's house. She knew only too well what it was like to look for work.
Rara massaged her slightly dizzy temples as she slowly walked out. About five servants were waiting outside, but they were not allowed to help.
Rara entered the bridal chamber, decorated with wilted rose petals, without seeing Rafael. She breathed a sigh of relief, at least Rafael was not at home. Rara immediately opened the wardrobe with the nightclothes and took them with reckless abandon.
In a super-luxury apartment in the center of Jakarta, Yuni and Rafael rested after taking care of family business.
"Rafa, the punishment you gave Rara was too cruel. Besides, there's no way she can escape with the tight security at home," Yuni said.
"Did you hear what Mama said, Rafa?" Yuni reprimanded and looked at her silent son. Even though Yuni was angry with Rara for eliminating her future son-in-law, Yuni still felt compassion when Rafael forced Rara and locked her in the warehouse.
"I am tired of you still talking about the murdered woman. I don't want her to live in peace, let it be proven and she can see for herself how it happened. No need to show mercy," Rafael said firmly.
"Rafa, Rara is officially your wife," Yuni said in a soft tone.
"I've had enough." Rafael stood up and left the plate, which still contained half of his food.
"Rafael!" Yuni shouted, but Rafael ignored her. "How long are you going to be like this, son?"
After lunch, Rafael decided to go straight to work, not caring about his body, which needed rest.
"Sir, there's still two hours of break time," Jordan, Rafael's personal secretary, admonished, worried because Rafael seemed busy since yesterday and had even less sleep.
"Am I the boss here or you? Hurry up and start the machine," Rafael said firmly.
Jordan nodded quickly and immediately opened the car door.
"Sorry, sir, I'm being too presumptuous and talkative," Jordan said while keeping his mouth shut, not daring to ask about Rafael's wedding, who was actually his bride-to-be instead of Rara.
During the ride to the headquarters, Rafael was busy fiddling with his cell phone. There was no time to rest, he didn't want to get lost in sadness.
After almost half an hour of driving through the capital's traffic, Rafael's car pulled up in front of the special trunk.
Several employees, who had been busy rummaging around, ran to their desks to see their newly married boss arrive at work.
Jordan opened the door with a bow and took Rafael's bag.
"Good morning, sir, welcome back. How was the wedding?" The manager greeted affectionately, nudging his employee's arm to place the flower arrangement.
"Congratulations, sir."
Rafael's jaw hardened, what the hell? He saw that the whole room was decorated with flowers, even the door to his room had flowers.
Crak!
Rafael forcefully broke the flower arrangement. "Are you guys working here or fooling around?!"
"Tu... Sir," the manager stammered. "We thought that greeting you with flowers would make you happy, sir."
The situation was getting out of control, and some of the employees were afraid of Rafael's angry outburst.
"Get back to work and have the OB clean this up, there's nothing left."
Jordan glared at the manager who didn't know the state of Rafael's marriage.
"You, get out of my way! Jordan, write down all their names."
Rafael left in a very bad mood. The flower arrangement always reminded him of Nara, who was gone. Nara loved flowers and Rafael hated it when he remembered the past.
Jordan came out after Rafael, but the car had already left the parking lot.
"We're sorry, we... really don't know what happened, sorry." The security guard, who was sitting comfortably with a cup of coffee, spit out his coffee at the sound of the car horn.
Rafael threw the car keys without listening to the guard's explanation. He was curious what Rara would do after coming out of the warehouse and thought about Yuni's mom's words.
Rafael's steps stopped when his eyes accidentally caught the figure of a woman in a negligee wiping the window glass, the light reflecting off her wavy, natural yellow hair.
"Why do I care about this woman, it's enough to bring relief." Rafael weighed his words, leniency, just one night locked up in the used warehouse, would be enough.
"Finally got that glass done." Rara wiped the sweat from her brow and after changing, she went straight to cleaning the front yard. She didn't want to be a woman who just stood around.
"Miss, let us do the cleaning," said the maid who followed Rara wherever she went. She couldn't bear to see Mr. Rafael's wife working as a servant in her own husband's house.
"It's okay, it's just a little problem. I'm used to doing the housework. You just go in and do your work."
At first the servant refused to go in, but when her employer continued to insist, she reluctantly went back in.
"I must have been fired from my job for not coming in for a few days. I hope I can earn some money for you with this." Rara clutched the rag in her hand and listened as the butler searched for more workers. Rara volunteered that she was not here as Rafael's wife.
Rara endured the pain in her leg from the impact as Rafael dragged her into the warehouse.
"Hold this for a while, Rara, you need to be strong for Father."
Rara didn't care about her leg, she dragged a bucket of water, the glass front was already clean, only the side window remained.
"He's so stubborn." Rafael closed the curtain and watched from the floor as Rara wiped the glass.
"Sir, I asked her not to clean, but she insisted. She said she was looking for a job." The butler looked down in fear.
"Send her in after cleaning."
