Rara furrowed her brow as she saw the body lying not far ahead. She stopped her car, squinted her eyes, making sure if what she saw was real or not.
Rara was slightly afraid that it might be a robbery tactic like before. The girl pondered for a moment before getting out of the car, especially because the road was very deserted. Rara was worried that something bad might happen. However, her heart was moved to get out and check the condition of the person lying there, especially after Iren saw blood on parts of the person's body.
Finally, Rara decided to get out. She took a deep breath, unbuckled her seatbelt, and stepped out of the car. Rara didn't immediately run towards the person; she observed her surroundings first. With hesitation, Rara began to muster the courage to approach.
Rara just realized that the person lying there was also a woman, which was not clear before. She covered her mouth, shocked by the sight, her pupils dilated in surprise. The woman on the ground was bleeding heavily from her head and mouth.
After a brief silence, Rara gathered the courage to approach the woman. She knelt in front of the woman's body and gently shook her.
"Sister...." Rara's voice trembled slightly. Her eyes glistened with tears; she didn't expect to encounter all of this.
Rara bit her lower lip to suppress any screams. She scanned the area, ensuring no one was around to harm the woman. However, the deserted night street showed no signs of passing cars.
"What should I do? I can't leave her here; she needs help. The police should investigate this," Rara muttered, nervously playing with her lips.
The next moment, Rara stood up from her kneeling position. She paced back and forth, unsure of what to do next as she gazed at the woman drenched in blood. Rara was puzzled about her course of action. Carrying the woman's body into her car seemed impossible; she couldn't lift her alone, yet leaving her there was not an option.
Rara fervently hoped for a passing car to seek help. However, no vehicles had passed by since earlier, likely due to the late hour and the secluded nature of the street. Once again, Rara knelt in front of the woman, this time bravely checking whether she was still alive or deceased.
Filled with fear, Rara cautiously brought her two fingers to the woman's nostrils. She sought a breath but felt nothing. At that moment, Iren felt intense fear; the woman appeared to have passed away.
Rara's hand trembled, fear gripping her. Despite her trembling, she strived to remain composed, knowing panic was not an option. Reasoning that the lack of feeling a breath was due to the woman's weak breathing, Rara decided to check the woman's pulse on her neck. Pressing her two fingers against the woman's skin, she searched for a pulse but once again felt nothing. As she withdrew her fingers, stained with blood, Rara immediately checked the woman's wrist. The result was the same— the woman had passed away.
Rara immediately stood up, wiping the blood on her fingers onto her clothes. The girl became increasingly confused about what to do next. If the woman had passed away, who would uncover the reason for her death? Rara feared that informing the police might lead to suspicion falling on her.
"What should I do? What should I do with this woman?" Rara murmured, nervously biting her nails to calm her fear.
After a few minutes, a beam of light from a car dazzled Iren. Startled, she straightened up from leaning on the car door. Relief washed over Rara as someone finally arrived; she would seek their help in taking the woman to the hospital.
Two people exited the car, a man and a woman. They hurriedly approached the woman lying on the road, leading Rara to conclude that they were her family.
With caution, Iren slowly approached. "Quick, take the woman to the hospital. I can't feel her pulse," Rara whispered very softly, looking deeply shocked by the unfolding events.
The woman who arrived with the man turned to Iren first. Her gaze displayed strong dislike towards Iren. "You must be Nara's murderer, right? How dare you!" the middle-aged woman scolded.
Rara quickly shook her head, denying the middle-aged woman's accusation. "No! I didn't do it. I saw the woman lying on the road as I passed by earlier; I have no idea what happened to her," Rara retorted.
"Oh, don't lie! Thieves don't confess; they end up in prison. What grudge do you hold against my future daughter-in-law that led you to brutally murder her like this! Answer me!" The middle-aged woman pushed Rara, almost causing her to stumble.
"I swear I know nothing. I've been waiting for someone to come and help me take this woman," Rara replied, her breathing unsteady.
"No need for a lot of talk! You're coming to the police station right now." Rafael stood up, then grasped Iren's wrist very tightly and dragged her.
"Let go! I didn't do anything! Release me now!" Rara continued to resist, freeing herself from Rafael's grip.
"If it wasn't you, then who?! Did my fiancée just die on her own? And what's with all the blood on you?" Rafael questioned angrily. "And there's blood on your clothes. That proves you're the killer!"
Rara glanced at her clothes, noting the bloodstains from earlier when she checked the woman's condition. "No. You misunderstand all of this. The blood is from when I chec–"
"I don't want to hear your explanation. Explain everything at the police station!" Rafael interrupted swiftly. He then attempted to drag Rara again.
Suddenly, Rafael's mother grabbed his hand. He immediately stopped his actions, turning to look at Yuni.
"If this girl won't admit her crime, perhaps, in exchange, she can take Naura's place as your future wife," Yuni suggested with an expression that puzzled Rara.
Rafael fell silent, turning to Rara, his gaze icy cold. Then, he displayed an odd smile.
