Ch. 21Forced to ask for help

"Yes! You can ask directly and take care of the guarantee with the administration at the registration counter. Do you know where it is?" the doctor asked, trying to understand the nervousness of the woman in front of him.

"I know, Doctor! Then I'd like to excuse myself," Sarah said politely.

"Please, ma'am," said the doctor.

Sarah quickly walked away. Just as she passed the exit where Hilman was with his left hand resting on the guardrail, his back to her, she heard the man's voice seducing someone over the phone.

"Yes, my darling ... my angel ... you won't break your promise tomorrow!" coaxed Hilman, trying to persuade Marissa, who could now be heard wailing on the other side. "This time ... give in first, okay?" he pleaded.

"No way! I want it now! I miss Mamah so much!" squealed Marissa, rejecting her father's suggestion.

"Come on, my darlings ... I'll accompany you all day tomorrow. Yes ... yes ... yes!" Hilman persuaded more and more intensively.

Sarah, who heard it, snickered sarcastically. Her admiration for Hilman instantly evaporated. The woman then immediately swung her steps quickly leaving the man. "Already have a lover. But, you still like to seduce other girls! You land crocodile!" she cursed with a sullen face. Her footsteps quickened even more.

Right at the end of the corridor, she immediately stopped her steps when she reached the elevator door.

Shortly after, the doors opened. The woman rushed inside, not forgetting to press the number 1 so that she could immediately go downstairs.

Sarah swung her steps back towards the exit, as the administration counter was located right in the hospital lobby.

"Excuse me, ma'am. I want to take care of the administration on behalf of patient Marni Hayati," Sarah said as she stood in front of the counter opening.

The female officer who was sitting at the computer immediately raised her face. Then smiled kindly at the woman in front of her. "Can you show me your patient card?"

"Just a moment!" said Sarah as she lowered her gaze, focusing on unzipping her bag and reaching inside. "Here, Ma'am," she said as she handed Marni's BPJS card.

The officer accepted it. He then placed his ten fingers on the keyboard. Soon Marni's data was clearly displayed there. "Heart failure patient, huh, Ma'am?" she asked, glancing at Sarah.

"Right, Ma'am," Sarah said in the affirmative, nodding politely.

"Okay. For the BPJS card itself, you can try asking the BPJS administrator directly. On my computer, I can't check the status, Ma'am. Sorry!" said the officer regretfully.

"Where is it, Ma'am?" asked Sarah as she grabbed the card and put it in her bag.

"Ma'am, from here go straight ahead, then turn right, just go straight to the end of the road. There's the BPJS counter," the officer explained kindly as she stood up.

"Oh, okay. Thank you, Ma'am!" said Sarah politely and nodded her head slightly.

The woman then walked following the direction of the officer's instructions. Right at the end of the corridor, she then immediately walked towards the counter. "Excuse me, Ma'am!" she greeted politely.

"Yes, ma'am. Can I help you?" the officer asked kindly while looking at Sarah without getting up from her seat.

"My mother is now in the operating room. Then I would like to take care of her insurance while she is here with the BPJS Kesehatan that the Social Service gave us. Can you use the card?" Sarah asked politely.

"May I see the card?" the officer asked, holding her right hand up.

"Here, Ma'am," Sarah said as she thrust the card into the officer's hand.

The officer immediately accepted it, then typed something on the keyboard. Her face looked serious as she looked at the computer screen, making Sarah a little anxious. But before long, the woman shook her head slowly. "Sorry, ma'am. This card is no longer active. The information is that the card has not been used for more than three months. So you have to take care of the activation first. For now, you have to use the public route. I apologize, Ma'am!" he said regretfully.

Sarah, who heard this, sighed heavily. "How much does it cost, Ma'am?" she asked in a gloomy tone.

"About fifty to one hundred million rupiah, depending on what treatment your mother received," said the officer again.

"Thank you, Ma'am," Sarah said listlessly as she turned around. She staggered back inside.

'Where can I get that much money? The money I took from Mas Adit was only ten million rupiah,' she thought softly. Her face looked haggard. 'Even if I take care of it, I can only do it tomorrow because it's already late. What should I do?" she complained.

Sarah sighed heavily as the trials seemed endless. 'Should I ask Adit for help?" she wondered as she sat on a waiting chair in the hallway of the hospital.

Many minutes passed while Sarah was daydreaming. The woman rose to her feet, then with the biggest steps immediately walked outside. She made her way to the highway, where an angkot appeared to have stopped in front of the hospital, as if waiting for her arrival.

"Are you need a taxi, Ma'am?" A driver asked, poking his head through the front passenger window. "Where are you going?"

"Yes, sir!" Sarah replied firmly. "Ahmad Yani street, sir!" she said, looking back at the driver from behind the front passenger door.

Meanwhile inside, Hilman seemed to have just finished seducing his daughter to be willing to give in this time. The man then went back into the surgery waiting room. How surprised the man was when he didn't find Sarah there. He then turned around the room to look for her. But he never found her.

"Where are you, Sarah?" he muttered to himself while roughly adjusting his hair.

Not long after, a male medical officer appeared to be coming out from beside the waiting room door. He nodded politely and flashed Hilman a faint smile as he passed the man.

Hilman returned the smile with a similar one. The man blinked his eyes briefly, then walked quickly towards the officer. "Sir!" he called politely.

The officer immediately looked back as he stopped his steps. "Yes, sir... how may I help you?" he asked politely.
