Ch. 13Chapter 13

Nicholas was shocked, how could his divorced wife become such a beauty in a few months? He must have seen it wrong. There was no way that Sofia, who was just a florist, could turn into a beauty.

"Sofia? Is that you?" Nicholas grabbed Sofia's hand, stopping her from walking.

"So what? We're not in a relationship anymore, so let me go, the great Mr. Nicholas!" Sofia replied curtly.

Outwardly she looked angry, but her heart was beating fast, she never expected to meet her ex-husband in a place like this.

"I never thought you could be so beautiful. Which men have you deceived?"

"Don't think I'm just like your fiancé! She's a wolf in sheep's clothing!"

Nicholas was not angry, but he laughed at Sofia for blatantly insulting Amanda.

"Then what about you? You are the one who is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Pretending to be an innocent girl when you are really a slut! You're willing to sell your body for dollars! What a cheap woman! Disgusting!"

Sofia wanted to cry at Nicholas' insults, but she held back because it would end the same way. Nicholas would never believe her. She didn't want to look weak in front of this man.

"Watch your mouth, dude! Sofia is not that kind of girl!" someone said, causing Sofia and Nicholas to turn their heads to him.

"Sam?"

"Yeah, it's me. I was wondering why you took so long in the bathroom, apparently a fly was bothering you!"

"Fly? Who the hell are you?" asked Nicholas curiously. From the clothes Sam was wearing, he knew this man was rich.

"It doesn't matter who I am, but aren't you ashamed to insult a woman, even if she is your ex-wife? Come on, Sofia, you're wasting your time talking to him."

Nicholas' jaw clenched, angry at what Sam had said, the unknown man who dared to insult him. He threw his fist at Sam, but Sam easily deflected it.

"Whoa... whoa... easy, man. I don't want to get my shirt dirty because it's my friend's wedding. I have nothing to do with you anyway because I just want to pick up this beautiful girl. Come on, Sofia."

Sam took Sofia's hand casually in front of Nicholas' eyes, making him really flustered.

"Hey! Stop you two!"

Sofia stopped her steps, as did Sam. However, it was not Nicholas who spoke first, but Sam who approached Nicholas and told Sofia to wait outside.

"Looks like you've found a new prey, you cheap bitch!" Nicholas quipped angrily at Sofia. The presence of Sam, who was helping Sofia, hurt her pride.

"Shut your mouth! You have the wrong idea, if you have a brain you better find out what really happened". Sam stood up for her.

"What do you mean? It's obvious that her past is a prostitute."

"Hahaha... you are handsome, rich, but stupid! I'm wasting my time with you!!!"

Sam looked at Nicholas who still didn't understand what Sam had just said. Was it true that there was something behind the photo his mother had sent him? Nicholas started to think and as soon as he realized, he wanted to chase Sofia back.

"Hey, you. Where's that woman coming out of the bathroom?" Nicholas asked the officer walking in front of him.

"What woman do you mean? There are so many women coming out of this bathroom."

Nicholas didn't answer anymore, he left the place immediately. He went to the Hotel Ballroom, hoping to find Sofia and try to get her to explain. Sam was talking about the wedding, so it was certain that the two of them were also guests at this wedding. Unfortunately, Nicholas lost track of both of them, even after circling the room, he did not find them at all. Instead, he saw something that surprised him.

Amanda was talking to a man, and shortly afterward, they came out sneaking. Amanda even looked left and right before leaving the room through the back door.

Nicholas, who was curious about Amanda, finally decided to follow her. He saw Amanda hand something to the unknown man. Nicholas took a picture of the two of them and also recorded it, even though he could not clearly hear what they were talking about, after getting the proof, he decided to get closer.

"What are you doing?"

Amanda was surprised to see Nicholas suddenly standing behind her. She looked nervous but tried to smile.

"Nothing, he's just a fan asking for my autograph, just ignore him," she gestured for the man to leave.

Nicholas rolled his eyes. He knew Amanda had just lied to him, but there was no point in arguing as he had no idea what they were talking about.

"I'm sorry, you've been looking for me everywhere, haven't you? Let's go back there." Amanda approached and tried to kiss Nicholas on the lips as an apology for leaving, but Nicholas refused.

"You go alone. I'm going home!"

"Wait, Nick! I know you're mad, I'm sorry!" Amanda tried to chase after Nicholas, Nicholas' wide stride and the high heels Amanda was wearing made their distance even greater.

A furious Amanda finally decided to stop chasing Nikolas, stomped her feet, and returned to the party. Meanwhile, Nicholas picked up his cell phone and called one of his confidants.

"Halo, it's me. I'm giving you two hours. Find out about the photos of my ex-wife and a man I'm sending you right away."

Nicholas hung up the phone, he had no interest in returning to the party, so he decided to return to his apartment while waiting for news from his subordinates. In the car, Nicholas remembered his earlier conversation with the man close to Sofia. Why was he so angry seeing Sofia holding hands with him? Feeling upset for no apparent reason, Nicholas repeatedly hit the steering wheel to vent his anger.

When he arrived at the apartment, he immediately changed the code on the lock because he didn't want to be disturbed by the chatty Amanda. He tried to figure out why his anger didn't go away, even though he had taken a bath and had a glass of wine, but still, the image of Sofia with the man couldn't get out of his mind.

"Damn it! What's wrong with me? Why can't I get rid of this bitch!" Nicholas threw the wine glass and it shattered. Still breathing heavily, his cell phone rang.

"Hello, sir. I have some good news and some bad news. Which do you want first?"

"Let's not mince words, what's the outcome?"

"Forgive me, sir. The photo is not doctored, but real, and the man with Miss Amanda is a drug dealer.
